Abstract

In women of childbearing age, the rate of bone formation will decrease gradually. If a bone formation is reduced continuously then it can cause osteoporosis. Insufficient calcium intake and abnormal body mass index can also cause reduced bone density. The purpose of this study was to analyze the correlation between calcium intake and body mass index with bone density in women of childbearing age in the Medical Faculty Universitas Lampung in 2021. This cross-sectional study of 80 respondents consisting of lecturers, employees, and students aged 20-45 years who were selected by purposive sampling was carried out in November-December 2021. Demographic data, Semi Qualitative-Food Frequency Questionnaire (SQ-FFQ), Kris digital scales 9360A, microtoise GEA, and Quantitative Ultrasound (QUS) were used to measure all variables. Spearmen Correlation Test with a significant level of p-value<0.05 was used to see the relationship between variables. The results of the univariate analysis showed that the majority of respondents were aged 20-25 years (76.2%) and college students (78.8%). The average intake of calcium and body mass index was 709.2 and 21.2 and 31 respondents (38.8%) had osteoporosis. The results of the bivariate analysis showed a positive and significant correlation between calcium intake and bone density (p-value=0.000, r=0.687) and bone body mass index with bone density (p-value=0.000, r=0.596). The conclusion, there was a positive and significant correlation between calcium intake and body mass index with bone density in women of childbearing age in the Medical Faculty of Universitas Lampung in 2021.

Abstract

The perineal wound is a difficult area to keep clean and dry. Postpartum mothers with perineal wounds complain of pain in their sutures and difficulty in doing activities. Perineal wound care is important to accelerate wound healing, avoid infection, and repair tissue. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of decoction water of young areca nut and Kandis acid on pain intensity and perineal wound healing in postpartum mothers. This study used a quasi-experiment with a pre-post test with a control group design approach with a sample of 22 postpartum mothers consisting of 11 people intervention group and 11 people control group which are selected by accidental sampling. The measuring instruments were using the NRS pain scale and the Southampton scale and the Bates-Jensen Wound Continuity Scoring. The statistical analysis of the study using the Kruskal-Wallis test on the pain variable obtained p-value=0.000 (p-value

Abstract

Breastfeeding can prevent annual deaths in children, including having a positive impact on the country's economy and even at the family level. Men are often forced to be involved in breastfeeding and caregiving, but the approach of the Maternal and Child Health (MCH) program is too girly, which often makes men feel alienated. Breastfeeding education for men is not impossible. This paper tries to describe several models that have been shown to have a positive impact on breastfeeding success using the literature review method. The results show that some face-to-face models for 2-3 hours can be done with several sessions for 2-3 weeks. Other models without face-to-face can also be done, for example by providing flyers, booklets, and disseminating information through mass media including education through Facebook and WhatsApp groups and smartphone applications. The government and health services should start seeing men as subjects in the MCH program and start developing breastfeeding education activities for fathers, even if breastfeeding education activities are combined with mothers, they should use a gender-free approach.

Abstract

Nurses are at the forefront in fighting against Covid-19 and are most likely in face-to-face interactions with patients in clinics or hospitals. Their jobs put them at risk of being infected by a coronavirus, forced them to wear protective equipment which made them uncomfortable, demanded them to deal with uncertainties, and handled patients who mostly fear of being infected by the virus when they visited a hospital. Having a belief that one can master certain situations and overcome obstacles is so-called self-efficacy. It is hard for nurses to carry out their roles during the Covid-19 pandemic, but social support may help to reduce stress and psychological burden. The study aims to examine the effect of family support on nurses' self-efficacy during the Covid-19 pandemic. Participants consisted of 98 nurses who worked in a private hospital in the Central Java province. We used the following scales to collect data: the Family Support Scale and the Self-efficacy Scale distributed to the participants using online and offline modes. The results of simple regression analysis showed an effect of family support on nurses' self-efficacy during the Covid-19 pandemic (p-value<0.001). Family support contributed 50.6% to nurse efficacy. Further studies may investigate other factors influencing nurses' efficacy during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Abstract

Nutritional problems during the Covid-19 pandemic are one of the problems that need attention among adolescents.  Nutrition education which is carried out regularly in the form of nutrition classes is expected to influence nutritional knowledge, nutritional status, and hemoglobin levels in adolescents. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of providing nutrition education in the form of nutrition classes on knowledge, nutritional status, and hemoglobin levels of adolescents during the Covid-19 pandemic. This study was an experimental study with a quasi-experimental one-group design with pre-test – post-test. The sample in this study were students of Al-Istiqomah Wanasari Islamic Boarding School in Bandung. The intervention was carried out for 3 months with 6 meetings online.  Nutritional knowledge was measured using an online form, nutritional status was measured by BMI for Age indicators, and hemoglobin levels were measured through peripheral blood vessels. Analysis of the data was used dependent sample t-test for normally distributed data.  Data that are not normally distributed are performed by the Wilcoxon test. The average nutritional knowledge, nutritional status, and hemoglobin levels of the samples before intervention were 14.75, 0.19, and 14.36 mg/dl, after the intervention increased to 18.06, 0.24, and 15.45mg/dl. Nutrition education in the form of online nutrition classes affected increasing nutritional knowledge (p-value=0.000) and hemoglobin levels (p-value=0.001) after an intervention. Online nutrition classes can be conducted during the Covid-19 pandemic to increase adolescent nutrition knowledge in achieving optimal health status.

Abstract

The government has been able to improve the degree of public health, which can be seen in the decrease in maternal and infant mortality, and the increase in life expectancy which is influenced by lifestyle. A healthy lifestyle can be done by eating a nutritionally balanced diet, doing physical activity/sports correctly and regularly, and not smoking. The active participation of the elderly themselves and their families is important in carrying out a healthy lifestyle. The type of research is analytically observational with a cross-sectional design. The number of samples was as many as 96 respondents. The analysis was performed bivariate and multivariate. Statistical tests were carried out by cross-sectional followed by linear regression to determine the effect of lifestyle variables on the health status of the elderly with a 95% confidence level or the value of=0.05. The study showed that the health status of the elderly in the working area of the West Ring Health Center in Bengkulu City was 58.3% classified as not good. There is a relationship between lifestyle (diet, physical activity, rest habits, and smoking history) with the health status of the elderly in the work area of the West Ring Health Center in Bengkulu City. All lifestyle variables (diet, physical activity, rest habits, and smoking history) simultaneously affect the health status of the elderly in the work area of the West Circle Health Center, Bengkulu City.

Abstract

Posbindu Non-Communicable Diseases (PTM) is a form of community participation in activities for early detection, monitoring, and early follow-up of risk factors for Non-Communicable Diseases independently, routinely, integrated, and continuously. So that the role of cadres is needed to carry out tasks in health services related to non-communicable diseases. The purpose of this study was to analyze the determinants of factor proxies consisting of training, awards, infrastructure, knowledge, and job design related to the performance of Posbindu PTM cadres in the working area of Wundulako Health Center. This study uses a descriptive-analytic design with a cross-sectional approach, sampling using a total sampling so that the number of samples is 55 people. The results of the chi-square test show that there is a significant relationship between training and the performance of Posbindu PTM cadres (p-value=0.003), there is no relationship between rewards and the performance of Posbindu PTM cadres (p-value=0.352), facilities and performance of  Posbindu PTM cadres (p-value=0.874), there knowledge and performance of posbindu PTM cadres (p-value=0.424). But, there is a significant relationship between job design and performance of Posbindu PTM cadres (p-value=0.009). This study concludes that there are only 2 factors that affect the performance of PTM posbindu cadres, i.e training and job design, so it is hoped that the Wundulako Health Center as the organizer can provide training to cadres, it must be carried out at least every month to maintain and improve cadre knowledge and socialization related to the duties and roles of cadres.
