Abstract

The aim of this study is to develop a valid, practical, and effective practicum guide of Plant Physiology for students of Biology Education Department at Universitas Muslim Maros. This is a research and development  (R&D) with Plomp development model. The research has  5 stages, namely: (1) the initial investigation phase; (2) design phase; (3) realization / construction phase; (4) test, evaluation and revision phases; (5) and implementation phase. The results show a valid, practical, and effective criteria of the product for students in practicum use. Based on the results, this product can be carried out in  practicum activities as it can improve student skills. The product  was tested on Biology Education students at the Muslim University of Maros of Academic Year of 2018/2019. The results indicate that the practicum guides fulfilled the valid criteria with an average content validity of 0,93, with the implementation category of 3 which was mostly implemented, and effective with 80.95% where the students learning achievements above 70.

Abstract

AbstractThis research is a correlational expost facto research that aims to know the relationship between the use of IPAor science learning resources and the science learning outcomes of students at SMP Negeri 4 Barebbo. The data were collected with questionnaire instruments  and documents to 48 people consist of 1 IPA teacher and 47 students. The data then analyzed descriptively with  statistical analysis and inferential statistics. The result of the study show tcount score > ttable score (0,576 > 0,294 and 0,546 > 0,294).It indicate that there is a positive relationship between the use of learning resources with students’ learning outcomes of IPA at SMP Negeri 4 Barebbo, Bone regency.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to identify the influence of guided inquiry learning model on students' critical thinking skills. The study is conducted by  using quasi-experimental methods with Posttest only control group design. Sample is taken to determine experimental group and control group with purposive technique. A valid and reliable essay instruments were developed based on critical thinking indicators (defining, arguing, withdrawing the conclusions) given to each sample after learning process takes place. Data were analyzed with t-test of significant level α = 0.05. The results show that there is no influence of guided inquiry learning models on students' critical thinking skills. T-test results give counts score is smaller than t test score (0.44 < 2.06).  Based on the observation, there are other factors that also influence on students' critical thinking skills including mental readiness and the effectiveness of students as well as the teacher's skill in facilitating the learning model.

Abstract

Teacher is highly considered influence on the education process. In the future the teacher must be able to compile learning tools and carry out learning strategies that can improve the skills of 21st century of the students. This research is a development research (research & development) which consists of 4 stages, namely defining, designing, developing and distributing. The aim is to find out the validity, practicality and effectiveness of biology LKS based on 21st century learning that integrated with local wisdom of mbojo in high school students. The research subjects were students of class XI  of SMAN 2 Kota Bima, 2018/2019. The Instruments used to collect data were validation sheets, observation sheets, and cognitive tests. The results of this study indicate that 21st century biology LKS integrated with local wisdom of mbojo meet valid criteria with a value of 3.31, practical with a value of 3.45 and effective with the percentage of student learning achievement of 83.33%.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine the effect of laundry industry residues on the level of toxicity, hemoglobin concentration and platelet count. The waste from the laundry industry is explained in Tilapia's pisciculture facilities. This is a completely randomized design (CRD) with six treatments and three repetitions. The treatments P0 (0%) as control, P1 (1%), P2 (2%), P3 (3%), P4 (4%) and P5 (5%). The observations showed the appearance of tilapia mortality at different treatment concentrations. The highest mortality occurred in the P4 treatment (4%) of 7 animals. In addition, there is also a decrease in hemoglobin concentration. The lowest hemoglobin concentration was found in the P2 treatment of 7.05 gr%. In contrast, the waste from laundry industry did not have a significant effect (P> 0.05) on platelet counts. Based on this study, it indicate that the wastage of the laundry industry affects the survival rate and oxygen supply as seen from the reduced level of tilapia hemoglobin.

Abstract

Students difficulties in understanding topics during learning process has an impact on student learning outcomes. The virtual practicum allows students to explore and visualize the concept of learning in more detail and clearly than just a theoretical explanation especially in biology topics. The aim of this research is to develop learning media based on virtual practicum, and improve students' science process skills. The research is a R&D (Research and Development) using nontest in the form of a valid questionnaire. The results of virtual practicum media feasibility were 79% with good criteria, 76% content with good criteria, 78% linguistic with good criteria, and 95% practicality with very good criteria. An advance trial of the media was carried out in the academic year 2019/2020 in class X Senior High School 1 Sindangwangi, Majelengka districts. The results indicate that learning media tools based on virtual practicum has increase the science process skills of students.  The pretest value is 9.1% and increase to 88% in posttest. The value of t count 12.89> t table 2.24. Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that the media of virtual practicum-based learning tools is feasible to use and can improve the ability of students' science processes in the concept of invertebrates.

Abstract

Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK) is knowledge of the material and how to teach it. The teacher uses the textbook as a reference when implementing the learning process. Therefore, the teacher's book must conform to the PCK component. The purpose of this study was to study the percentage of PCK components in the teacher's book. The research method used in this research is descriptive method with the subject of research by selecting chapters that enter the organ system, namely the human digestive system, human blood circulation system, human respiratory system and human excretion system. Based on the results of research that has been analyzed shows the emergence of PCK components in the teacher's book related to the 24.8% Natural Science meeting, the knowledge of the Natural Sciences curriculum 46.3%, the knowledge of 53.6% student understanding and the knowledge of the 54% Natural Science learning strategies.

Abstract

Naturalist intelligence is a person's ability to use, understand and classify flora, fauna and nature, along with their interactions, which are then used in solving environmental problems. Naturalist intelligence is one of the predictors relating to responsibility environmental behavior which is one of the efforts to solve environmental problems. This study aims to analyze the relationship between naturalist intelligence and the responsibility environmental behavior of students of SMP Negeri 51 Bandung. The number of respondents consisted of 220 students. The method used in this study is quantitative research with a correlational method. Naturalist intelligence data collection and responsibility environmental behavior using non-test instruments. Analysis of research data using a regression model test (α = 0.05) and correlation coefficient test with Pearson Product Moment test (α = 0.05). The results of the analysis show that there was a positive relationship between naturalist intelligence and responsibility environmental behavior students'.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to produce a valid, practical and effective module that can facilitate students to integrate the biological learning material with related verses in Al Quran. This was a development research (R&D) which referred to 4 D development model with four stages, namely; define, design, develop, and disseminate. The research instruments used were validation sheets, student response questionnaires and learning outcomes tests in the form of 20 multiple choice questions. The data analysis technique used was validity data analysis, practicality data analysis, and effective data analysis. Based on the results of the assessment of validator, the module was met with valid category with an average validity of 3.48. This indicates that the module can be applied in learning. Practical level of the module was in positive category with average practicality was 3.65. This indicates that the module can be used by the students easily. The effectiveness of the module was very effective with a percentage of completeness was 100%.

Abstract

This research was a quantitative descriptive study that aimed to find out the quality of questions made by teachers of SMA Negeri 10 Gowa in terms of the level of difficulty, discrimination item, and to determine the ability of these questions to measure the high-level thinking students in SMA Negeri 10 Gowa. The sample in this study was 36 students. Data collection technique was documentation, by collecting all daily questions, answer keys, and the marks of student answers of Biology class XI of SMA Negeri 10 Gowa. The instrument used in this study was a review of the Higher Order Thinking (HOTS) adapted from a module of Making HOTS Questions published by the Education and Culture Office. The data of this study were analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. Based on the results of the quantitative analysis, the level of difficulty of the question description used in daily tests was quite good, while questions for multiple-choice categorized as good. The quality of discrimination items for both essays and multiple-choice questions categorized as poor. The results of a qualitative analysis found that there were no questions categorized as HOTS, but all of these questions had very good in use and construction of language.
