Abstract

The cooperative learning model is a learning model that can make students discover and develop ideas, find solutions, and build their knowledge. Talking Chips is one of the cooperative learning model types. The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of cooperative learning with the Talking Chips type toward learning outcomes in the human physiology anatomy course. This research was quasi-experimental and designed with a One Group Pre-test. The sample of this study was 25 students of the VI semester of UMMA biology education study program in the human physiology anatomy course. The results showed that the average learning outcomes of students after taught with the learning model was 80, higher than students before taught with the model namely 65.8. The hypothesis testing with the independent sample t-test obtained tcount 3.149 higher than t table 1.67. It indicates that the student learning outcomes after applying the cooperative learning model are significantly better than before the learning model applicated.

Abstract

Mycorrhizae are typical structures found in a plant's root system found symbiotic mutualism between fungi (myces) and roots (rhiza). Mycorrhizae have an essential role for plants because they can increase water and nutrient uptake, especially phosphorus absorption. The purpose of this study was to determine the mycorrhizal genera on the roots of parring bamboo plants (Gigantochloa atter) in Sabantang Hamlet, Toddopulia Village, Tanralili District, Maros Regency because there is no scientific information regarding this issue. This research was conducted with the wet filter method or sieving. The isolation of spores from the rhizosphere of Gigantochloa atter samples was carried out by referring to the pouring method and wet sieving using a stratified filter set. Staining techniques were used to observe the colonization of arbuscular mycorrhizal structures in the roots of the sample plants. The results showed that 27 spores were found, consisting of 15 spores of the Glomus genera, three spores of the Gigaspora genera, and nine Acaulospora genera. Observation of the root structure has not shown the presence of vesicular and arbuscular. However, only hyphae and spore structures were found because the mycorrhizal hyphae in Gigantochloa atter have not yet reached the infection stage to form arbuscular or vesicular structures

Abstract

This study is a qualitative descriptive study that aims to identify the student misconceptions on genetic material. The research was conducted at Sembilanbelas November University Kolaka. The research subjects were 23 students of the biology education study program who programmed the genetics course. Research data were collected using the Certainty of Response Index(CRI) diagnostic test technique to determine the location of misconception and interviews to determine the causes of misconception. The results showed the percentage of students understanding the genetic material of those who did not know the concept, knew the concept and experienced misconception was 17%, 39%, and 44%, respectively. There were misconceptions on five genetic submissions where the highest occurred in the sub material structure of gene organization with a percentage of 54%. The causes of students experiencing misconceptions are a passive attitude to seek information (43,5%), abstract genetic material (26,1%), learning methods that prioritize memorization techniques (17,4%), the use of high school books as the main reading reference (8,7%), and inability to translate the contents of reading material appropriately (4,3%). The conclusion is students experience misconceptions in all genetic sub materials tested with the highest percentage occurring in the sub-material of the gene organization structure. The most cause of the misconception is the passive attitude of students. There might be a need for the students to be more actively involved in building understanding, including independence in searching for information.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the implementation of online assessment in assessing the concept and self-efficacy of high school biology material. The research method used was descriptive qualitative research. The study population was high school students in Sukabumi Regency. The samples used were 76 students of class X and XI in Sukabumi Regency and 2 Biology teachers. Data collection instruments in the form of interviews and questionnaires. The results showed that the student's questionnaire had a percentage of 68.11 (fair enough category), meaning that the implementation of the assessment for mastering the concepts and self-efficacy of students was quite good. The results of teacher interviews stated that the Assessments carried out were not varied due to challenges in daring learning. The bloom taxonomy used by Biology teachers at SMAN 1 Jampang Tengah in measuring concept mastery was C1, C2, C3, and C4 and not used C5, and C6.  In addition, the teacher assessed peer-to-peer that made students understand the material being taught and affect student self-efficacy.  It appears that the implementation of online assessment at the Sukabumi Regency Senior High School is already in the good category. It might need innovation and improvement in the future to control students' concepts and self-efficacy.

Abstract

This research discusses the exploration of bird species diversity in the mangrove ecotourism area of Lakawali Village, Malili District, East Luwu Regency. The aim of this research is to explore the diversity of bird species and their distribution in several mangrove and pond ecosystems in Malili District, East Luwu Regency. The research was conducted at four observation stations in the mangrove ecosystem, namely the mangrove ecosystem in Lakawali Pantai Village, Usu Village, Pinrang Malili Village, and PasiPasi Village. The object of this research was the bird species (avifauna) which found at four observation stations in the mangrove ecosystem and aquaculture ponds in Malili District. Data were collected using the IPA method (Index Puncuald'Abondence), observation, and documentation. Data analysis was done by counting the number of bird species from each order found, while the conservation status was determined based on Permen LHK No. P.106/MENLHK/SETJEN/KUM.1/12/2018 and the IUCN’s red list. The results of the research showed that the number of bird species found in mangrove ecosystems and aquaculture ponds around mangroves in the Malili district consisted of 48 species of 13 orders, dominated by Passeriformes and Ciconiiformes. The distribution of the highest number of bird species was found in the KampungPinrangMalili area, followed by Ussu Village, LakawaliPantai Village, and the lowest was in PasiPasi Village. There are two types of birds with NT conservation status (Near Threatened = almost threatened), namely the white belly albatross or Spizaetuscirrhatus (Gmelin, 1788) and the Sulawesi snake eagle or Spilornisrufipectus (Gould, 1858), most of which have the least concern (low risk) LC conservation status and are not protected.
