Abstract

Introduction:  Out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) is a critical emergency condition that necessitates immediate intervention to prevent fatal outcomes. In rural areas, where access to quality educational resources is limited, Documentary Short Films (DSF) can provide essential training that enhances individuals' confidence and willingness to act decisively in emergency situations involving OHCA through CPR. Objectives:  To analyze the effect of DSF on enhancing student's confidence and willingness to perform CPR in rural areas. Methods:  This study employed a quasi-experimental design utilizing a one-group pretest-posttest framework, conducted at a junior high school in Jember Regency, involving 72 students selected through proportionate stratified random sampling. The educational media utilized was a Documentary Short Film (DSF). Following the administration of a pretest questionnaire and the viewing of the DSF, a post-test was administered one week later to assess changes in self-confidence and willingness to perform CPR. Results The results indicate a significant difference in students' confidence and willingness to perform CPR before and after the educational intervention using the DSF (p < 0.05). The average self-confidence score among respondents rose from 5.78 (2 – 3 questions responding with 'confidence') to 9.43 (4 – 5 questions responding with 'confidence'). Additionally, the average willingness score showed an improvement from 9.13 (3 – 5 questions responding with 'willing') to 15.68 (7 – 8 questions responding with 'willing'). Conclusions:  DSF for CPR training effectively enhances rural middle school students' confidence and willingness, improving community emergency response and safety .

Abstract

Introduction: Preparedness among vulnerable populations living on volcanic slopes faces serious challenges, given the high potential for disasters such as volcanic eruptions. Vulnerable groups, such as the elderly and pregnant women, often have limited mobility and access to information, which makes it more difficult for them to respond quickly in the event of a disaster. The impact on pregnant women and the elderly is more severe compared to other age groups. This is due to the limitations of both the elderly and pregnant women. This requires the preparedness of pregnant women and the elderly in dealing with disasters. Objectives:   research to determine the relationship of family support to the preparedness of pregnant women and the elderly. Methods: The research is quantitative correlation. The population is all pregnant women and the elderly who live in Balerante village, totaling 35 people. The sampling technique is total sampling with Kendall Tau analysis. Results:   The majority of mothers aged 20-35 years were 95%, high school education as many as 10 respondents (67%), multigravida as many as 8 respondents (54%) and had no complications as many as 14 respondents (93%).  The results showed that the family support of pregnant women was mostly good as many as 8 respondents (53%), and the majority in the elderly family support was good as many as 12 respondents (60%). The majority of pregnant women's good preparedness is in the moderately prepared category, namely 9 respondents (60%) and the majority in the elderly with the Ready category, namely a total of 12 respondents (40%). The results of the p value = 0.001 for pregnant women and for the elderly the p value = 0.009. Conclusions: Family support plays an important role in the preparedness of vulnerable groups, as families can provide emotional support, information, and resources needed to prepare for volcanic eruptions.

Objectives: This study aims to analyze the factors affecting the quality of life of post-stroke patients at the Neurology Clinic of RSUD Tabanan. Methods: This research uses a descriptive correlational design with a quantitative approach. The sample consists of 36 post-stroke patients at the Neurology Clinic of RSUD Tabanan. Data were collected using the SS-QOL questionnaire with a non-probability sampling technique, specifically purposive sampling. Data analysis was performed using the Chi-Square test. Results: The results show that the quality of life of most post-stroke patients at the Neurology Clinic of RSUD Tabanan falls within the good category, accounting for 77.8% (28 patients). Among the 12 characteristic factors analyzed, only age shows a significant relationship with the quality of life of post-stroke patients at the Neurology Clinic of RSUD Tabanan (p = 0.001). Conclusions: Age is significantly related to the quality of life of post-stroke patients compared to other factors. Age influences the quality of life of post-stroke patients due to its association with physiological factors, such as the body's recovery ability and susceptibility to complications, as well as social aspects, such as individual roles and responsibilities
