Abstract

Elderly healthcare services have become a national priority in response to the increasing aging population in Indonesia. Posyandu Lansia (Integrated Health Services for the Elderly) is a community-based health initiative aimed at improving the quality of life of elderly individuals through promotive, preventive, and routine health monitoring activities. This study aims to evaluate the implementation of Posyandu Lansia in the working area of Petumbukan Health Center, Deli Serdang Regency, focusing on elderly participation rates, service availability, the role of health cadres, and existing challenges. This research uses a descriptive method with both qualitative and quantitative approaches. Data collection techniques include field observation, in-depth interviews, and document review. The evaluation findings indicate that while the Posyandu Lansia activities are conducted regularly, the participation rate remains relatively low, at around 35–40%. Available services are limited to basic health checks such as blood pressure and blood glucose monitoring, as well as elderly exercise sessions. Key challenges include limited medical equipment, lack of cadre training, low family involvement, and insufficient operational funding.Improving cadre capacity, ensuring adequate facilities and equipment, and fostering stronger collaboration between the health center, village government, and the community are essential to enhance the sustainability and quality of elderly health services.

Abstract

Health workers at primary health care facilities, such as community health centers (puskesmas), play a crucial role in all phases of disaster management. However, their preparedness often remains suboptimal due to limited training, experience, and coordination capacity. This study aimed to analyze factors associated with disaster preparedness among health workers at Harian Community Health Center, Samosir Regency. A quantitative research with a cross-sectional design was applied. The total population of 51 health workers was included using a total sampling technique. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire validated for reliability and accuracy, and analyzed using chi-square and multiple logistic regression tests. The results showed significant relationships between disaster management training (p=0.043), involvement in disaster response (p=0.008), participation in the Rapid Response Team (TGC) (p=0.012), knowledge (p=0.035), and attitude (p=0.049) with disaster preparedness. In contrast, age (p=0.471), gender (p=1.000), education level (p=0.323), and work experience (p=0.750) were not significantly related. Multivariate analysis identified participation in the TGC as the most dominant factor influencing preparedness, with Exp(B) = 21.635. These findings highlight the need to strengthen disaster preparedness at the primary care level through regular training, simulation exercises, and empowerment of TGC teams as key components of the health emergency response system

Abstract

The The implementation of the Casemix system through INA-CBG’s as part of the National Health Insurance (JKN) program requires hospitals to improve efficiency while maintaining service quality. The performance of the Casemix team plays a crucial role in ensuring coding accuracy, claim timeliness, and cost control. This study aimed to analyze the factors influencing the performance of the Casemix team and its relationship with service quality in the Outpatient Unit of RS Grandmed Lubuk Pakam in 2025.This research used a mixed methods approach with a sequential explanatory design. Quantitative data were collected from 93 JKN outpatient respondents selected using the Slovin formula and accidental sampling technique. Data were analyzed using univariate, bivariate (Chi-Square test), and multivariate (multiple logistic regression) analyses. Qualitative data were obtained through in-depth interviews with five key informants selected purposively and analyzed using thematic analysis. The results showed that most respondents rated human resources (62.4%), SIMRS-based Casemix system (65.6%), facilities and infrastructure (59.1%), financing (67.7%), service quality (64.5%), and Casemix team performance (63.4%) in the good category. Bivariate analysis indicated that all independent variables had a significant effect on Casemix team performance (p < 0.05). Multivariate analysis revealed that service quality was the most dominant factor influencing Casemix team performance (OR = 6.46; p = 0.000), followed by human resources (OR = 4.10; p = 0.002) and financing (OR = 3.44; p = 0.006). In conclusion, the success of Casemix implementation in the outpatient unit is influenced by a combination of human resources, information systems, financing mechanisms, and service quality. Strengthening human resource competence and improving service quality are key strategies to optimize Casemix team performance and enhance hospital service efficiency

Abstract

Adolescence is a period of rapid growth that increases nutritional requirements, making adolescents more susceptible to nutritional problems when their dietary patterns are not balanced. One contributing factor is the frequent consumption of fast food, which is typically high in energy, fat, and sugar. This study aims to examine the relationship between knowledge and attitudes regarding fast food and the nutritional status of adolescents at SMA IT Nur Hidayah Sukoharjo. This observational research employed a cross-sectional design and involved 77 students selected through cluster random sampling. Data on knowledge and attitudes were collected using structured questionnaires, while nutritional status was assessed through anthropometric measurements. The data were analyzed using the Chi-Square test. The results indicate that most respondents were within the normal nutritional status category, although several were classified as overweight. While the majority of students demonstrated adequate to good knowledge of fast food, their attitudes toward fast food consumption were generally less favorable. Statistical analysis showed no significant association between knowledge and nutritional status (p=0.353), nor between attitudes and nutritional status (p=0.350). The study concludes that adequate knowledge does not necessarily correspond to optimal nutritional status, as attitudes toward fast food consumption are influenced by multiple factors. Therefore, efforts to improve adolescents' nutritional status should not only focus on providing nutritional information but also on fostering healthier attitudes and eating behaviors.

Abstract

Traditional medicine in Indonesia, rooted in local wisdom, is recognized nationally and internationally to support public health preventively, promotively, and curatively, backed by government commitments through regulations such as jamu certification and the Germas program, as well as the abundant biodiversity of thousands of medicinal plant species serving as raw materials for the significant national traditional medicine industry, with ongoing scientification efforts to ensure safety and efficacy. This study aimed to identify trends in the utilization and expenditure of phytopharmaceutical drugs and to provide alternative strategies for enhancing the competitiveness of phytopharmaceuticals as traditional medicine. A cross-sectional study with a quantitative descriptive approach utilized secondary data on domestic phytopharmaceutical drug expenditures from 2023–2024 sourced from the Ministry of Health's LKPP e-purchasing system, which was processed using Microsoft Excel and analyzed descriptively for frequency distribution, percentages, patterns, and trends. Total phytopharmaceutical expenditure reaches Rp25.94 billion, with an increase from Rp11.08 billion in 2023 to Rp14.86 billion in 2024; provinces with the highest spending include Central Java (Rp3.88 billion), followed by West Java (Rp3.02 billion) and East Java (Rp2.38 billion), which contribute more than one-third of the national total, while immunomodulator products like Stimuno dominate with Rp15.01 billion, but utilization for chronic diseases remains low, such as hypertension (Tensigard: Rp1.08 billion) and diabetes (Diabadex: Rp0.295 billion). This study concludes that although phytopharmaceutical expenditure and utilization show positive trends, their utilization is not yet optimal due to limitations in integration into the National Health Insurance, regional distribution disparities, high research costs, as well as low promotion and acceptance among healthcare professionals and the public.

Abstract

Household waste management is a crucial component of environmental health, particulary in rural riverside areas where limited facilities and poor community practices contribute to environmental degraduation. This study aims to identify the conditions and factors contributing to suboptimal household waste management in Sungai Tonang Village. A qualitative descriptive method was uses, involving field observations and semi- structured interviews with village officials, health workers, and residents. Data were analyzed thematically and verified through triangulation of interviews, observations, and supporting documents. The findings indicate that household waste management in the village remains inadequate, as residents commonly dispose of waste into the river, burn it, or bury it due to the lack of waste sorting facilities, temporary storage, and transportation systems. Community knowledge of proper waste management and the 3R concept is low, and the village lacks regulations or institutional structures to support waste management. This situation creaters environmental pollution and increases the potential for vector-borne diseases. The study concludes that ineffective waste management practices in Sungai Tonang Village pose a significant environmental health risk, highlighting the need for regulatory development, facility provision, and ongoing community education to support sustainable waste management practices.

Abstract

The increasing involvement of women in the workforce often places them in two roles at once, namely as workers and housewives. This condition has the potential to cause role conflict and increase mental workload which ultimately triggers work stress. This study is to analyze the relationship between role conflict and mental workload with stress in female teachers at Junior High School in Banjarsari District, Surakarta. This study applied a quantitative approach and a cross-sectional approach from February to March 2025. A total of 160 female teachers were respondents obtained using a proportional random technique from a total population of 273 people. Data collection through the WFCS, NASA-TL, OSI-R questionnaires were analyzed using the Chi-square test. The findings of this study indicate that the majority of respondents are in the moderate category for role conflict, mental workload, and work stress. Statistical analysis revealed a relationship between dual role conflict and job stress (p = 0.000) and between mental workload and job stress (p = 0.001). These findings indicate that increasing levels of dual role conflict and mental workload are associated with increasing levels of job stress in female teachers. Therefore, dual role conflict and mental workload are important factors influencing job stress in female teachers, necessitating better workload management and support for work-family role balance to reduce stress and improve teacher well-being.

Abstract

Special school (SLB) teachers not only have the responsibility to teach skills and knowledge according to the characteristics and potential of their students, but they are also required to take on roles as paramedics, social workers, counselors, administrators, and therapists. The demands faced by teachers who work in special schools are far greater than those faced by teachers in regular schools. A high mental workload can reduce performance and has a significant positive effect on worker burnout. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between mental workload and the occurrence oof burnout among special school (SLB) teachers in Surakarta City. This study used a quantitative method with a cross-sectional research design. The study population was 176 teachers, and the sample size was calculated using the Lemeshow formula with a 95% confidence level, resulting in 121 respondents selected through proportional random sampling. Based on the results of the study, most teacher respondents have a moderate level of mental workload (47,9%) and experience moderate burnout (49,6%). The Chi-Square test shows that there is a relationship between mental workload and burnout among SLB teachers, with a p-value 0,000 (p<0.05). burnout among teachers is an issue that requires attention because they have a responsibility to create a classroom environment that supports learning. Therefore, providing support, recognition, and adequate resource is necessary to reduce the mental workload of SLB teachers and prevent burnout in order to improve occupational health

Abstract

Diarrhea was a serious health problem for all age groups, especially among school-aged children. The Ministry of Health reported in 2025 that diarrhea ranked second among diseases with the highest potential for outbreaks in Indonesia, with 2,046,806 cases recorded as of mid-2025. The number of diarrhea cases in Surakarta increased from 7,209 cases in 2023 to 11,434 cases in 2024. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between student knowledge and personal hygiene behavior, as well as the incidence of diarrhea, among students of SMP Negeri Surakarta. This study employed a quantitative method with a cross-sectional approach and a proportional sampling technique, involving 184 respondents from grades VII, VIII, and IX. Data analysis was conducted using both univariate and bivariate analyses, including the Chi-Square test. The results indicated a significant relationship between student knowledge (p-value = 0.000) and personal hygiene behavior (p-value = 0.000) with the incidence of diarrhea among students of SMP Negeri Surakarta. This study concluded that personal hygiene knowledge and behavior had a significant impact on the incidence of diarrheal diseases. However, other factors also contributed to the spread of diarrheal diseases, including environmental sanitation, water hygiene, and disease transmission through canteen handlers. From this matter, it is expected that the school also plays an active role in continuous disease prevention efforts, both through theoretical education and practical implementation, as well as by improving supporting facilities to provide a safe, healthy, and comfortable environment for students.
