Abstract

The main issues of this research are how to improve the visual abilities of Elementary School (ES) students on Natural Resources (NR) and Environment (EN) subjects through the method of discovery. The objectives of the research are as follows: (1). Improving visual abilities of elementary students through discovery methods; (2). Provides learning through fun discovery methods and can inspire elementary students. The methods / approaches used in achieving the following objectives: (a). Collect students and elementary teachers involved in research; (B). Provide an overview of the research activities to be undertaken; (C). Reflecting on, discussion of learning by method of discovery; (D). Collaborate with elementary teachers in the determination of experimental class and control class; (E). Implementation of learning method of discovery; (F). Evaluation of learning by method of discovery. The results showed that there was an increase in visual ability of elementary school students through learning with the method of discovery of 24%; (2). Elementary students are enthusiastic about learning by the method of discovery given by the teacher; (3). Abstract

This research is motivated by the concern of the author towards students of Public Elementary School 038 Kiaracondong Bandung who lack awareness in doing greening resulting in an arid and poorly maintained school environment. The purpose of this research is to improve the ecoliteracy of students so that they are more sensitive to the importance of the green environment so that they want to do a greening movement even though they have limited space. This research was conducted with the Classroom Action Research (PTK) method using the design of Kemmis and Taggart (2001) on grade IV students of SDN 038 Kiaracondong Bandung. The results of research conducted in 3 cycles with 12 meetings showed an increase in ecoliteracy in students towards greening the space indicated by behavior, one of which was; 1) students grow awareness to reforest on school land despite limited space; 2) students plant ornamental plants and vegetables with pots that come from processed waste; 3) students are responsible for caring for the plants well; 4) students take care of flowers and give fertilizer regularly; 5) students grow creativity in processing plastic waste into flower pots; 6) students are able to distinguish between types of waste. Through urban farming activities students experience a process of improving ecoliteracy which is not only applied in the school environment but also in the home environment. Keywords:         Project Based Learning, Ecoliteracy, Urban Farming

Abstract

The main problem of this study is the lack of ability to think kriis Elementary School fifth grade students in the learning of Social Sciences. This study uses a quantitative approach with quasi-experimental methods. The study population was the fifth-grade elementary school students in District Ciparay Bandung regency. The sample consisted of 51 students divided into 25 students in the class IV-A as an experimental group and 26 students in the class IV-B as the control group. Instruments used comprises a written test regarding social issues. Quantitative analysis is performed against the average pretest and post test critical thinking skills by using the t-test and Mann Whitney test. The results showed that the differences are critical thinking skills in students using problem-based learning model at initial measurement (pre-test) and the final measurement (post-test). encourage the student can solve his problems with critical thinking, there are no differences in the ability of critical thinking in students who use conventional learning model at initial measurement (pre-test) and the final measurement (post-test), there is an increased critical thinking skill in students whose learning using model-based the problem is higher than students whose learning using conventional learning.

Abstract

The skills and development of children's language are unique to observe, the researchers found several cases of varying language abilities in the age range of 6-12 years old who are still in primary school. From the perspective of child development psychology, the findings are influenced by several factors that are directly or indirectly related to the child's life. On the basis of this background, the researchers made an analysis of the results of observation of primary school children in the age range of 6-12 years with the object of research made randomly. The result of the data obtained by the researcher is that the elementary school age children have significant differences in the ability to speak in the school environment and outside the school environment.

Abstract

This research aimed to investigate the implementation of physical education, sport and health learning through sports game in building primary students’ characters. The method employed in this research is qualitative descriptive. The subjects of this research were five graders and physical education teachers at SDN 1 Awirarangan, SDN 2 Awirarangan, SDN 1 Karangtawang, and SDN 2 Karangtawang, Kuningan, West Java. The data was taken interactively and continuously. The main instruments of this research were observation, interview and documentations. The data were analyzed in accordance with the frameworks proposed by Miles and Huberman which were data collection, data reduction, data presentation, drawing conclusion and verification. The result showed that learning physical education through sports game is a media that can be used to build students’ characters. Through sports game, someone could gain self-control and work together very well. Values like responsible, honest, brave, cooperative, confident, tolerant, mutual respect, religious, polite, wisely accept victory and defeat could be gained through the implementation of sports game. To sum up, the implementation of physical education through sports game is an alternative media to build primary students’ characters.Key words: Physical education, Sports game, Character education

Abstract

The objectives of the research are as follows: (1). Improving the ability of elementary students in recognizing the sun through picture and picture method; (2). Provide learning through picture and picture method that improves students' ability. The methods / approaches used in achieving the following objectives: (a). Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the learning media and the ability to think creative of to the ability to science literacy student of elementary school. The study was conducted at the grade V SDN Manangga and SDN Tenjonagara Kabupaten Sumedang. Research design using experiment method with treatment by level 2 x 2. Data analysis is the two way anava. The results of this study indicate that (1) There were differences in the ability to science literacy of student of study by using ICT media with education aids. (2) There was an interactional of the learning media and the ability to think creative of the ability to science literacy student of elementary school. (3) The ability to science literacy student who have high the ability to high think creative by using ICT media  more high compare who have the ability to high think creative by using education aids.(4) The ability to science literacy student who have low the ability to low think creative by using ICT media  more low compare who have the ability to low think creative by using education aids

Abstract

This study was to determine the effect of the use of internet-based learning media in improving the scientific literacy skills of PGSD students. The method used in this study was pre-experimental with the research design of one group pretest-posttest. The population in this study were all IKIP Siliwangi PGSD students in the fourth semester of regular classes and non-regular classes with a total of 300 students. The sample in the study was regular class students with 38 students. The instruments used included tests, validation sheets and observation sheets. Research results show that the sig value. (2-tailed) 0,000 <0,05, it can be concluded that H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. Thus there is a difference in the average scientific literacy ability between pretest and posttest and it can be concluded that the use of internet-based learning media can improve students' scientific literacy skills. Student observation data shows that learning using internet-based learning media can increase student activity with the percentage of 53.75% of active students and 46.25% of fasive students in learning.

Abstract

The use of digital technology is an inevitable necessity in the era of the Industrial Revolution. Internet access has supported a new digital lifestyle. Digital Native easily accesses the internet and uses digital technology. Navigating the internet is a daily necessity for digital native. They seemed addicted to the internet. Unfortunately, digital natives are not aware of digital traces left behind which can deduce dangerous risks. Progressive education in the era of the industrial revolution is important to develop the concept of character education in accordance with the era. This study aims to find elementary school strategies in forming digital etiquette. The method used in this research is qualitative method. Data collection is done through observation, interviews and documentation. The study involved the principal, and the teacher as research subjects at the Surabaya City Elementary School. The results show that there are three frame approaches developed by schools to embed digital etiquette in elementary schools. Student learning academic performance, School environment and School behavior and Student life outside the school environment. The three frames are used to provide the norms and responsibilities for using digital devices.

Abstract

The research aims to develop students' reading comprehension skills through the use of online magazines. The choice of online magazines as a source of student reading is because now students prefer to use electronic devices such as cellphones or laptops. The use of online magazines in primary school students can be an effort to instill digital literacy. This study uses a pre-experimental method with Post-test only with Nonequivalent Groups. The study population was grade IV students in the city of Cimahi while the selected sample of 28 students used the convenience technique. Meanwhile, the data collection technique uses a reading comprehension skills test and a digital literacy level questionnaire. Researchers conducted data analysis with inference statistics through the SPSS 20.0 program. The results indicated that the reading skills of group A students' understanding were better than those of group B. The researchers concluded that the online magazine had an effect on reading comprehension skills of grade IV students.
