Abstract

Accessibility of the Qur'an for visually impaired individuals remains a serious challenge, as evidenced by the low number of blind Indonesian Muslims who can read the Braille Qur'an. This study aims to examine the form, meaning, and function of the tanwīn waṣl symbol in the Braille Qur'an through the semiotic framework of Charles Sanders Peirce. The subject of this research is the tanwīn waṣl symbol in the Standard Braille Qur'an published by the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia through the Lajnah Pentashihan Mushaf Al-Qur'an. This qualitative library research employs descriptive qualitative analysis based on Peirce's triadic framework, encompassing representamen, object, and interpretant. The findings indicate that as representamen, the tanwīn waṣl symbol takes the form of a raised-dot pattern 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, perceivable tactilely. As object, it refers to a phonological phenomenon wherein tanwīn meets hamzah waṣl, requiring the pronunciation of the letter nun with vowel i. As interpretant, the symbol produces layered understanding: a tactile warning signal for novice readers, a specific articulation guide for intermediate readers, and a representation of the broader tajwīd rule system for advanced readers.

Abstract

This study examines comparison culture in the digital age and proposes a Qur’anic ethical framework through a reinterpretation of Q. An-Nisa’: 32 using Muḥammad Syahrur’s naẓariyyat al-ḥudūd (theory of limits). Social media has intensified social comparison practices, often leading to insecurity, anxiety, and low self-esteem. Although Social Comparison Theory explains how comparison functions, it provides limited normative guidance for regulating such behavior. This qualitative library research integrates Qur’anic exegesis with contemporary social theory. The study analyzes Q. An-Nisa’: 32 through contemporary tafsir, particularly socio-ethical (adab ijtimā‘ī) and spiritual (tasawuf) perspectives found in the works of al-Ālūsī, al-Marāghī, and M. Quraish Shihab, and reinterprets them through Syahrur’s theory. The findings show that the Qur’an does not prohibit comparison altogether but regulates it within ethical boundaries: ḥadd adnā, which limits destructive envy, and ḥadd a‘lā, which permits constructive comparison that encourages self-improvement.

Abstract

The decline of students' morality is one of the educational challenges that requires serious attention, especially in character formation through Christian Religious Education. This study aims to analyze the influence of learning the content of Christian Religious Education, especially material on the Holy Spirit, on the morality of Christian students at SMAN 3 Palangka Raya. The research uses a quantitative approach with a correlational descriptive method. The results showed that the learning of PAK content was in the category of quite good, while the morality of students was in the category of very good. PAK learning has been proven to have a significant effect on student morality with a contribution of 17.5%. Among the indicators studied, the Holy Spirit material made the most dominant contribution to improving students' morality. In addition, there was no difference in perception of PAK learning based on gender, but the morality of female students was significantly higher than that of male students. This study concludes that learning about the Holy Spirit in PAK plays a positive role in the formation of students' morality.
