Abstract

Indonesia, as a multicultural nation, has diversity that includes religious, ethnic, cultural, racial, and gender diversity, as well as socio-political dynamics. This plurality is a social asset, but it also has the potential to cause conflict if it is not managed through an inclusive and tolerant attitude. This article aims to analyze the transformation of the attitudes of a diverse society through Christian Religious Education in the context of Indonesian education. This study uses a qualitative approach with a literature review method through a critical analysis of literature on multicultural education, recognition politics, inclusive religious education, and national education regulations. The results of the study show that Christian Religious Education plays a strategic role in shaping the character of students so that they are able to live peacefully side by side in a pluralistic society. However, diversity education still tends to be limited to religious and ethnic aspects, while other dimensions such as cultural recognition, gender equality, democracy, and social justice have not been comprehensively integrated. Therefore, Christian Religious Education needs to be developed through a broader and more dialogical multicultural approach.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to formulate a pastoral liturgy model that functions as a space for spiritual healing and social reconciliation for the Kariu congregation of the Maluku Protestant Church (GPM) after communal conflict on Haruku Island. The method used is a qualitative approach with Richard Osmer's practical theology paradigm, through four theological tasks, namely descriptive-empirical, interpretive, normative, and pragmatic. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, Focus Group Discussions (FGD), and documentation studies. The results of the study show that routine worship practices do not fully address the social, psychological, and spiritual recovery needs of the congregation after the conflict. The congregation needs a liturgy that provides space for lamentation, prayers for healing, strengthening of faith, and integration of post-conflict life experiences and local culture. The conclusion of this study is that pastoral liturgy needs to be understood and designed as a means of contextual and transformative pastoral care. Liturgy does not only function as a formal ritual, but as a medium for spiritual healing and social reconciliation of post-conflict congregations.

Abstract

This study explores the potential of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) as a framework for transforming Islamic education by promoting inclusivity and equity. Using a qualitative research approach with a multiple case study design, data were collected through semi-structured interviews, classroom observations, and document analysis in selected Islamic educational institutions. The findings indicate that the implementation of UDL principles significantly enhances student engagement, accessibility to learning materials, motivation, and participation. Moreover, UDL aligns with core Islamic educational values such as justice (‘adl), compassion (rahmah), and respect for learners’ dignity. This study concludes that integrating UDL into Islamic education curricula is a strategic approach to fostering inclusive and equitable learning environments and contributes to ongoing discussions on inclusive educational reform within religious education contexts.

Abstract

The issue of interreligious tolerance is a significant challenge in multicultural societies, where differences in beliefs can potentially lead to social friction if not managed wisely. In this context, this study aims to analyse the role of the local traditions of the Batu Nindan village community in shaping and maintaining interreligious tolerance through the perspectives of tolerance theory and conflict theory. The research used a descriptive qualitative approach with participant observation, in-depth interviews, and document study techniques, which were analysed thematically with source and method triangulation. The findings show that local traditions function as a social adhesive that encourages everyday interfaith interaction through communal practices such as customary deliberation, cultural celebrations, and cross-faith mutual aid. These traditions also facilitate intergenerational transmission of tolerance by cultivating empathy, mutual respect, and religious moderation through social customs and community-based learning. In addition, they provide a culturally legitimate mechanism for preventing and resolving social tensions through peaceful deliberation led by traditional and religious figures, grounded in principles of fairness and social justice. Local rituals and shared symbols further reinforce collective identity and social legitimacy, renewing residents’ commitment to harmony and cohesion. Theoretically, these results demonstrate that Batu Nindan traditions operate as a practical platform for enacting tolerance values and managing potential conflict, contributing to an inclusive and harmonious social order.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the application of psychological approaches by teachers in inclusive learning at Gamaliel Christian Kindergarten in Palu. The study uses a qualitative method with a focus on teachers' strategies in assisting children, especially children with special needs. The results of the study show that teachers have made efforts to understand the emotional and social conditions and developmental characteristics of children through a personal approach, play-based learning methods, the use of simple learning media, and the provision of positive reinforcement. These strategies help to create a safe, comfortable, and inclusive learning environment for all students. However, the implementation of psychological approaches has not been optimal due to limitations in teachers' competencies in inclusive education, a lack of specialized training, the unavailability of professional assistants, and limitations in supporting facilities and infrastructure. These conditions have resulted in individual assistance for children with special needs not being carried out to the fullest extent possible.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the functions of religion in the religious experiences of elderly members involved in a religious WhatsApp group at GKI Tegalrejo, Salatiga. This study employs a qualitative descriptive–interpretative approach supported by descriptive quantitative data. The participants consisted of 12 elderly individuals aged 60–75 who had been actively involved in the religious WhatsApp group for at least six months. Data were collected through a 1–4 scale questionnaire to map the intensity of digital religious experiences, as well as semi-structured interviews to explore the meanings of those experiences. The findings indicate that the WhatsApp media group functions as a digital religious space that primarily strengthens the social and emotional functions of religion, such as a sense of togetherness, emotional support, and the presence of a faith community. These findings suggest that digital media function not only as communication tools but also as a medium of religious experience that is relevant to the lives of the elderly today.

Abstract

This study aims to understand how Generation Z in Bengkulu City interprets tourism activities as part of constructing their existence and identity in the digital space. This study uses a qualitative approach with a phenomenological design to explore the subjective experiences of informants in depth. The results show that Generation Z's tourism experience is not interpreted solely as a recreational activity, but as a multidimensional experience encompassing emotional needs for healing, strengthening social relations through togetherness, and the need for self-expression and recognition in the digital space. Exposure to visual content on social media acts as an initial stimulus that shapes destination interests and preferences, which are then subjectively processed based on the individual's emotional state and social needs before resulting in a travel decision. Documentation and content upload activities are an integral part of the tourism experience, as through this process informants receive social responses and validation.
