The Rohingya refugee crisis has garnered global attention, eliciting both pros and cons to the dispersion of Rohingya refugees across different nations. This research analyzes the pros and cons of the Rohingya refugee situation and its implications for religion, humanity, society, and the economy. The research method uses qualitative descriptive analysis included in the literature review, which takes secondary data from sources such as the Immigration Detention Center, UNHCR, and IOM. The research result show four main backgrounds to the Rohingya crisis: religious, humanitarian, social, and economic. The study identifies numerous hoaxes and hate speech targeting the Rohingya, causing societal polarization and the disruption of social harmony. The same of religion and human values becomes the primary reason to assist Rohingya refugees. However, societal rejection also occurs due to the presence of certain Rohingya individuals who violate local norms and religious principles. From a social and economic perspective, helping the Rohingya ethnic group is an effort to prevent human trafficking transactions. However, it has the potential to cause social jealousy. Rohingya refugees negatively impact the economy, but in Malaysia, they contribute positively to the informal sector. Resolving this crisis demands international cooperation, humanitarian aid, diplomatic efforts, and a commitment to human rights for concrete solutions.

Abstract

The existence of patriotism is an important pillar for the continuity of the state and nation. Historically, patriotism has played a crucial role in achieving Indonesian sovereignty. In this context, patriotism faces challenges, making its actualization necessary. Thisis particularly significant as globalization leads to cross-culturalism, which can potentially result in soft imperialism. This study employs a qualitative approach with aliterature study design, presented in a narrative-descriptive manner. It focuses on the idea of patriotism in the Indonesian context, patriotism in Islamic literature (the Qur’an and Hadith), and the relevance of patriotism in the modern context. The discourse of patriotism emerges as a blend of local aspects and global hegemony. Regarding patriotism in Islamic literature, it can be found in several verses of the Qur’an, such as QS. al-Qasas: 85, QS. al-Baqarah: 126, and QS. Maryam: 31, as well as in the Hadiths of the Prophet Muhammad by Imam Ibn Hibban, Imam Bukhari, and Imam Muslim. For actualization, the concept of public ethics offers an alternative for fostering a new sense of patriotism, especially since the existence of patriotism in Indonesia is closely tied to religious discourse.

Abstract

The low quality and deviant attitudes of educators have led to a decline in the quality of education in Indonesia. Educators, in fact, play a crucial role in building an advanced and high-quality nation. Therefore, educators are expected to develop traits that align with the teachings of the Qur'an, which serves as the primary source of Islamic education. This study aims to identify the traits of ideal educators as outlined in Surah Al-Muddaththir, verses 2-7, according to Nasir al-Din Abu al-Khair Abdullah in his tafsir Anwār At-Tanzīl wa Asrār At-Ta'wīl. Additionally, it seeks to determine how these traits can be implemented by educators in Indonesia to improve the quality of education. The results of this research are expected to contribute significantly to the field of education, especially Islamic education. Moreover, the findings are anticipated to serve as guidelines in the development of educational curricula and policies. This discussion is based on library research, where data is gathered from sources relevant to the topic, including written sources and other literary references. Abstract

Organizational conflicts are intrinsically linked to leadership and political dynamics. This study aims to describe an empirical experience and develop a model of the efficacy of political policy practices in resolving organizational conflicts within pesantren (Islamic boarding schools). The study adopts a qualitative approach, utilizing the diary method based on empirical data gathered from fourteen years (2010-2024) of active and consultative management of a pesantren. The research informants include the most senior leader of the pesantren and several teachers involved in the conflict. Informants were identified using the snowball sampling technique. The findings of this study reveal that the political practices of leadership in managing conflicts within pesantren consist of three strategic steps: the central role of leadership and political acumen, the reinforcement of cultural values within the pesantren through collective commitment, and the effectiveness of the employed conflict resolution strategies. Resolving individual conflicts, particularly those involving teachers and leadership, is essential to prevent the escalation of disputes into open conflicts. Conversely, individual conflicts between teachers and staff often lead to collaboration and compromise. Moreover, institutional conflicts between the pesantren and external parties create a competitive environment in which the pesantren's position must be fortified to ensure legitimacy while minimizing external interference. This research carries significant social implications. If pesantren successfully navigate conflicts, they are likely to benefit the broader community. As religious institutions, pesantren require support, protection, and advocacy.

Abstract

This research aims to develop an Islamic education model for preventing sexual bullying using a sociolinguistic approach. This approach analyzes language use and social interactions within Islamic education to understand and mitigate sexual bullying behavior. The main issue highlighted is the lack of understanding regarding the integration of sociolinguistic principles into these models. A qualitative research method was employed, involving 5 respondents from Islamic educational settings, 2 sociolinguistic experts, and 3 Islamic religious teachers. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and document analysis, with social integration theory applied in the data analysis. The findings indicate that educational models such as communication etiquette training, social skills development, the teaching of law and ethics, Islamic religious education, and shared responsibility learning play crucial roles in preventing sexual bullying. They support the formation of a positive social identity and strengthen interpersonal relationships. The uniqueness of this research lies in integrating sociolinguistic and Islamic approaches to address sensitive issues like sexual bullying. In conclusion, Islamic education models based on sociolinguistic principles have significant potential to reduce incidents of sexual violence in educational environments.

Abstract

This article examines the understanding of Asbāb Wurūd al-Ḥadīth through a socio-cultural approach and its application within the Indonesian cultural context. The reinterpretation of hadiths with asbāb al-wurūd must always consider historical, social, and cultural factors to reveal the underlying contexts, whether they involve questions posed to the Prophet Muhammad or other circumstances. This study emphasizes the importance of investigating hadiths through a socio-cultural lens for a more comprehensive and contextual analysis. The research aims to uncover various implicit meanings embedded within the social, cultural, and traditional dimensions of the hadith, providing broader insights into their relevance and applicability in different cultural settings, particularly within Indonesia. Conceptually, this research is a literature review employing qualitative methods. The analysis utilizes descriptive techniques alongside a contextual approach developed by John Dewey, which focuses on situational and environmental factors influencing hadith transmission. The key findings of the study include the identification of several hadiths analyzed through socio-cultural dimensions that can be applied within the Indonesian cultural framework. These examples include: (1) the hadith about wearing sandals during prayer (social aspect), (2) the hadith about wearing a turban (cultural aspect), (3) the hadith about women’s leadership (political aspect), and (4) the hadith regarding the command to bathe on Fridays (economic aspect). In conclusion, the socio-cultural approach offers a significant contribution to contextualizing hadiths and adapting them to the unique cultural conditions in Indonesia, enhancing their relevance and applicability in modern society.
