Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui konsep matematis dalam perhitungan Urang Sunda pada aktivitas pernikahan, pertanian, dan mencari benda hilang di Kampung Lembur Balong, Kecamatan Pataruman, Kelurahan Pataruman, Kota Banjar, Jawa Barat, Indonesia. Tiga aktivitas tersebut dipilih berdasarkan banyaknya penggunaan yang dilakukan oleh masyarakat. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan etnografi. Sumber data penelitian diperoleh dari seorang sesepuh yang disebut dengan istilah canoli (seorang ahli dalam perhitungan sunda). Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan studi kepustakaan, observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diperoleh bahwa terdapat konsep matematis, yaitu konsep aritmetika modulo dan konsep barisan aritmatika pada aktivitas pernikahan, pertanian dan mencari benda hilang.

Abstract

This research focused on the implementation of Cooperative Learning type, Two Stay Two Stray. The aims of study were to determine the better gain of students’ Mathematical Connections and Communications treated by Cooperative Learning Model type Two Stay Two Stray and direct learning model, also at which level of students’ Mathematical ability the model become effective? The populations in this study were all bachelors’ degree of Mathematics Department in academic year 2013-2014, and then two of five classes were taken as the sample of research. The instrument used in this study includes the test of Mathematical Connection and Communication. Analysis of data used two different test averages and One Way Anova with Scheffe test. The result of the study has been found that the improvement of Mathematical Connection and Communication of students who obtained Cooperative Learning Model type Two Stay Two Stray is better than Direct Learning Model. The improvement of Mathematical Communication and Connections in high group of students was better than medium and low group.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyse the achievement of mathematical problem-solving ability through scaffolding application. This study was a quasi-experimental research with the design of pretest-posttest control group involving two classes using purposive sampling. The population in this study was the student of class VIII in one of the public junior high school in Tasikmalaya district involving two classes as a sample. The data collection technique used was test and non-test. The test instrument according to the indicator of mathematical problem-solving ability while the non-test by questionnaire. The data analyse performance quantitative using the different test of two means. The research result showed that mathematical problem-solving ability of the student who gets scaffolding learning is higher than the student who gets direct learning.

Abstract

  This study aims to determine the effect of the application of Multiple Intelligences based Discovery Learning on students mathematical understanding ability and to find out the interest in learning mathematics of students after applying Multiple Intelligences based Discovery Learning. This study uses an experimental method with population of 312 eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 13 Tasikmalaya in the academic year 2018/2019. The sample is determined by cluster random sampling. 32 students from VIII-I class was chosen as the experimental class whose learning applied the Multiple Intelligences based Discovery Learning, while the VIII-H class which numbered 31 students was chosen as the control class whose learning applied the Discovery Learning model. The collection of research data is determined through a single test of mathematical understanding ability in the form of a description (posttest). The instrument of this study consisted of test questions of mathematical comprehension ability and students interest in learning mathematics. The data analysis technique uses the two average difference test. The results showed that there was an effect of the application of Multiple Intelligences based Discovery Learning models to the students 'mathematical understanding ability with students interest in mathematics learning in the high category.

Abstract

This study aims to find out: (1) differences in student motivation between learning using digital video storytelling and learning without using digital video storytelling (2) the effectiveness of using digital video storytelling in trigonometric learning. This research is an experimental study using true experimental design with a pre test-post test control group design model. This research was conducted at SMA Muhammadiyah 4 Surabaya with samples taken of two classes used for the experimental class and the control class. The technique of collecting data uses student learning motivation questionnaires. While the analysis technique used is descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. The results showed there were differences in student learning motivation using digital video storytelling and those not using digital video storytelling. The difference can be seen from the average value of student learning motivation in the experimental class before the use of media by 28.44 and after using media by 47.48. In addition, research results from the results of the Mann-Whitney Test show that the use of digital video storytelling media is effectively used in trigonometric learning. This is evidenced from the average results of student motivation in the experimental class increased by 19.04 while the average student motivation in the control class increased by 11.07. Seen an increase in student motivation in classrooms using digital video storytelling is higher than those who do not use digital video storytelling.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis research was basically conducted to improve students’ understanding of mathematical concepts and mathematical communication skills both verbally and non-verbally using the Rally Coach learning method. In addition, the main purpose of this study is to examine and analyze the relationship between students’ understanding mathematical concepts and mathematical communication. Therefore, the authors first design instruments to measure students’ understanding of mathematical concepts and mathematical communication skills that have been adapted to indicators. This study is based on correlational research method. The instrument was tested to see its validity and reliability using the Cronbach Alpha formula. The results show that the application of the Rally Coach learning model has a positive influence in improving students’ understanding of mathematical concepts and mathematical communication. The results of the analysis by statistical testing with Pearson correlation show that there is a relationship between understanding mathematical conception and mathematical communication skills, but the relationship is not so strong. This can be seen from observations made by authors, some students are able to understand mathematical problems, but are not fully able to communicate verbally.Keywords: mathematical communication; mathematical conceptual understanding; Pearson correlation; rally coach; validity and reliability test.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mendeskripsikan keefektifan pendekatan kontekstual berbasis budaya lokal dan pendekatan konstekstual dalam pembelajaran matematika dan pendekatan pembelajaran yang lebih efektif  diantara pendekatan  kontekstual dan pendekatan kontekstual berbasis budaya lokal ditinjau dari prestasi belajar, minat belajar dan apresiasi siswa terhadap matematika. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian eksperimen semu dengan pretest-posttest control group design. Populasi penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 4 Girimulyo yang memiliki karakteristik yang sama. Sampel penelitian ini adalah 2 kelas yang dipilih secara acak dari seluruh populasi. Data hasil penelitian dianalisis menggunakan Multivariate Analysis of Variance (MANOVA) untuk mengidentifikasi perbedaan keefektifan antara pendekatan kontekstual berbasis budaya lokal dan pendekatan kontekstual. Untuk mengetahui pendekatan yang lebih efektif diantara pendekatan kontekstual berbasis budaya lokal dan pendekatan kontekstual data dianalisis menggunakan univariate independent sample t-test. Untuk mengetahui keefektifan pembelajaran matematika menggunakan pendekatan kontekstual berbasis budaya lokal dan pendekatan kontekstual digunakan uji proporsi. Hasil penelitian ini adalah 1) Pendekatan kontekstual berbasis budaya lokal lebih efektif  ditinjau dari prestasi belajar matematika, minat belajar dan apresiasi siswa terhadap matematika; 2) Pendekatan kontekstual efektif ditinjau dari prestasi belajar dan apresiasi siswa terhadap matematika; 3)  Pendekatan kontekstual berbasis budaya lokal lebih efektif dibandingkan pendekatan kontekstual ditinjau dari apresiasi siswa terhadap matematika.  This study aims to describe the effectiveness of teaching mathematics using contextual based on local culture approach and contextual approach and the more effective teaching between contextual based on local culture approach and contextual approach based on student achievement, learning interest, and students appreciation toward mathematics. This research is a quasi-experimental design with nonequivalent groups pretest-posttest control group design. The research population are all of year VIII students that have same characteristic with students in SMP Negeri 4 Girimulyo. The sample consisted of two classes that were randomly established from SMP Negeri 4 Girimulyo. The data were analyzed by means of Multivariate Analysis of Variance (MANOVA) to determine the differences in the effectiveness between the first experimental class and second experimental class, continued with univariate independent sample t-test to see if the contextual based on local culture approach is more effective than contextual approach. To test the effectiveness of mathematics teaching using contextual based on local culture approach and contextual approach, a proportion test was used. The results of the study shows that: 1) the contextual based on local culture approach are effective in teaching mathematics based on students’ learning achievement, students’ learning interest and appreciation toward mathematics; 2) the contextual approach are effective in teaching mathematics based on students’ learning achievement and appreciation toward mathematics; 3) the contextual based on local culture approach is more effective than contextual approach based on students' appreciation toward mathematics.

Abstract

Salah satu hal penting dalam pembelajaran matematika adalah menekankan pemahaman konsep. Namun, kesalahan konsep dalam menyelesaikan masalah matematika masih umum ditemukan. Salah satu solusi yang dapat dilakukan untuk mengatasi kesalahan konsep adalah mengembangkan model pembelajaran untuk meningkatkan pemahaman konsep. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan model pembelajaran yang dapat meningkatkan pemahaman konsep. Model pembelajaran yang dikembangkan dalam penelitian ini disebut model pembelajaran IDEA (Issue, Discussion, Establish, and Apply). Setelah berhasil dirancang, validitas model pembelajaran IDEA diuji. Tes validitas model pembelajaran IDEA dilakukan oleh 2 ahli dan 1 praktisi. Hasil uji validitas model pembelajaran IDEA menunjukkan bahwa model pembelajaran IDEA valid dan dapat digunakan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman konsep.One of the important things in learning mathematics is to emphasize understanding of concepts. However, concept errors in solving mathematical problems are still commonly found. One solution that can be done to overcome the concept errors is to develop a learning model to improve concept understanding. This research aims to develop a learning model that can improve concept understanding. The learning model developed in this study is called the IDEA learning model (Issue, Discussion, Establish, and Apply). After successfully designed, the validity of the IDEA learning model was tested. The validity test of the IDEA learning model is conducted by 2 experts and 1 practitioner. The validity test results of the IDEA learning model show that the IDEA learning model is valid and can be used to improve understanding of concepts.

Abstract

Matematika merupakan ilmu tentang pola, struktur dan bentuk yang terintegrasi dalam budaya  masyarakat. Konsep-konsep matematika yang diaplikasikan, merujuk pada aktivitas, kebiasaan, ataupun adat kehidupan masyarakat dalam menyelesaikan masalah disebut etnomatematika. Salah satu aplikasi etnomatematika ini terdapat pada Candi Borobudur. Candi Borobudur adalah megastruktur konseptual matematika yang dibangun sejak berabad-abad tahun yang lalu, dimana pada masa itu belum berkembang teknologi modern. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membahas tentang ajaran, filosofi, dan konsep matematika yang terdapat dalam Candi Borobudur, serta hubungan dari ketiganya. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksploratif dengan pendekatan historis dan kultural. Simpulan penelitian ini adalah sebagai berikut: (1) Candi borobudur sebagai produk etnomatematika menyajikan berbagai konsep agama, moral, budaya, dan matematika, (2) Secara keseluruhan, konsep-konsep tersebut memiliki hubungan dan keterkaitan diantara satu sama lain, (3) Konsep-konsep yang disepakati dan diterapkan dalam realita kehidupan, telah membawa matematika sebagai produk budaya yang tertanam sejak zaman dahulu meskipun mereka tidak menyadarinya, dan (4) Candi borobudur merupakan contoh monumen dari orkesta matematika dalam bentuk etnomatematika.Math is the science about the patterns, structures, and shape, integrated into the culture of the life of the community. Mathematical concepts which applicated in the cultural community, refer to activities or customs, habits, life incomplete the problem is called ethnomathematics. One of these ethnomathematics application is present on the Borobudur Temple. Borobudur Temple is a conceptual mathematical megastructure that was built centuries years ago, which at the time was not yet developing modern technology. The purpose of this study is to discuss the form of teaching, philosophy and mathematical patterns of the structure of the building of the temple, as well as the relationship of the third focus of the study. This research method using exploratory with historical and cultural approaches. The conclusions of this research are as follows: (1) Borobudur temple as ethnomatematics product presents various religious, moral, cultural, and mathematical concepts, (2) Overall, these concepts have a relationship and interrelationships with each other, (3) Concepts which are agreed upon and applied in the reality of life, have brought mathematics as a cultural product that has been embedded since ancient times even though they were not aware of it, and (4) Borobudur temple is an example of a monument of a mathematical orchestra in the form of ethnomatatics.
