Abstract

A few theoretical perspectives have been taken under consideration the meaning of an object as the result of a process in mathematical thinking. Building on their work, I shall investigate the meaning of ‘object’ in a dynamic geometry environment. Using the recently introduced notions of dynamic-hybrid objects, diagrams and sections which complement our understanding of geometric processes and concepts as we perform actions in the dynamic software, I shall explain what could be considered to be a ‘procept-in-action’. Finally, a few examples will be analyzed through the lenses of hybrid and dynamic objects in terms of how I designed them. A few snapshots of the research process will be presented to reinforce the theoretical considerations. My aim is to contribute to the field of the Didactics of Mathematics using ICT in relation to students’ cognitive development

Abstract

This research is aimed to know: (1) Whether the increasing student’s critical thinking ability through guided discovery learning methods assisted by geogebra higher than the students who were given guided discovery methods without geogebra, (2) How the interaction between learning and early math  ability of student mathematical learning result. This study was a quasi-experimental study. The population of this study was the entire class of six semester mathematics education which approximately 184 people. Randomly, two classes were selected from six classes.  The first experimental class was given a geogebra assisted discovery method and the second experimental class was given a guided discovery method without  geogebra . The instrument used was a description test. The data analysis has been done by analysis of two-way variance (ANOVA). The results showed (1) the increasing student’s critical thinking ability through guided discovery learning methods assisted by geogebra were better than the students who were given guided discovery learning methods without geogebra. (2) There was no Interaction between learning and early math ability of student mathematical learning results.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effects of smart egg puzzle games on understanding the concepts of early childhood geometry. This study uses a type of quasi-experimental research with nonequivalent control group design, where a group of experiments and control groups was not randomly selected. The population in this study were all TK Aisyiyah branches in Ngagel Surabaya, totaling 237 children with a sample of 88 children. Data collection is done by participant observation to determine the understanding of the concept of child geometry. The data analysis technique used is parametric statistics by using one-way ANOVA for samples that correlate with each other. From the results of the analysis obtained Fcount ≥ Ftable (21.4 ≥ 3.10), this egg puzzle game has a good effect on understanding geometric concepts.

Abstract

The era of the industrial revolution 4.0 requires working effectively and efficiently, all the activities is quick and easy. Skills use of technology is one of learning skills that must be mastered to achieve success in life in the era of industrial revolution 4.0, especially in the academic field for students undertaking study or the study completion. Skills good use of technology will make the students quickly and easily complete the study. This study aims to analyze the importance of skills enhancement technology use in higher education in order to meet the industrial revolution 4.0. The research sample student counseling. Research data analysis using percentage. The research found that the importance of improving the skills of the use of technology in higher education and in general skills of student technology use is not optimal.

Abstract

The advancement of Information Technology alters various aspects of human life, including learning. In the present era, on-line learning facilities are provided by institutions, ranging from formal higher education to open course-ware providers. On-line learning or e-learning is mostly achieved through stored media that widely available. These media take forms in various formats such as text and images, slide that equipped with narration from the lecturer, or a video where the lecturer appears inside the frames. We conducted a research about how students would response to the available learning media. The research was conducted with repetitive measures. Each measurement was a module that divided into three parts, where each part was presented to the student as one out of three media listed above. Hence we had three media types for each module. Each module took one week, and at the next week we gather their responses through evaluation forms. All modules were completed in six consecutive weeks. After all modules were completed, we analyze their responses and found that our samples responded best to the video with the appearance of the instructor/lecturer, then the slide with audio, and finally text and images.

Abstract

Technology integration in mathematics instruction is demanded throughout the educational system as it offers to support students achievement, teachers productivity, and effectiveness in classroom management. However, its implementation has presented some complex problems including lack of specific knowledge and skills of technological tools, diversity of points of view and beliefs, and the factor of time. This indicates that integrating technology to improve mathematics education is a challenging task. To ensure technology is used effectively to enhance students’ learning and teachers’ practice of mathematics, many facets need to be considered. Australian curriculum clearly mandated educational stakeholders to use technology to support daily mathematics instruction, but a direction of how to apply it in the classroom still unclear. It is suggested that more emphasis on rich mathematical tasks, productive pedagogies and developing teacher professional development that fosters both technological competence and pedagogy flexibility as proposed by many educational researchers is needed.

Abstract

In the context of implementing decentralization in the education sector, there are many problems that arise, because the implementation of decentralization of education is different from the decentralization of other areas of government which is basically concentrated at the district and city level. Decentralization of education has not only stalled at the district and city level but even more so that it reaches the school level. The existence of autonomy in the management of education is a potential for schools to improve the performance of personnel, offer direct participation from relevant parties, and increase public understanding of the implementation of education in schools. Decentralization of education has encouraged the improvement of services in the field of education to the community, which leads to efforts to improve the quality of education management at the lowest level, namely schools through the implementation of School-Based Management. The implementation of School-Based Management in general is to empower or empower schools through giving authority to schools, giving schools greater flexibility to manage school resources, and encouraging the participation of school members and communities to improve the quality of education.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of playing bridge beams on the coordination and balance of the body of children aged 5 - 6 years. The research subjects were children aged 5 - 6 years in Raudhatul Athfal (Kindergarten School) Munawwarus Sholeh of Situbondo district. The research approach used is a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design. Research data was obtained through tests given to children and documentation taken at the time of the study. Data analysis techniques in this study using independent sample t-test. The results of the data analysis show the number sig. 0,000 > 0,050, it shows that the null hypothesis is rejected so that it can be concluded that there is the influence of playing the bridge beams on the coordination and balance of the body of children aged 5-6 years.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the quality of service of the head of the Islamic elementary school in terms of the level of management knowledge and work environment. This research is a quantitative study carried out in the East Lombok Madrasah in East Nusa Tenggara Province with the number of respondents being 65 heads of Islamic schools. Data were obtained through interviews, review of documents and literal scale questionnaires that had been standardized using Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) with the Lisrel 8.80 full version program. For data analysis using path analysis techniques (path analysis). The findings of this study reveal that the knowledge of school principals influences the quality of service. Thus the high and low quality of service of the head of the Islamic school can be influenced by the level of knowledge of management. The results of this study contribute to schools that have low-quality leadership services to serve as a basis for improvement.

Abstract

The aims of this study are to describe the learning process in animal structure courses and learning outcomes obtained by students of Biology Education Study Program, Teachers Training and Education Faculty, Siliwangi University Tasikmalaya after attending lectures. The research method used is survey data collection using a questionnaire. As many as 60 students who have attended and graduated in animal structure lectures in the 4th semester of the 2014/2015 academic year were used as research samples. Samples were taken using simple random sampling technique from a population of 90 students. Then the data obtained is processed using descriptive statistics. The results of the study show that students have an interest in animal structure courses, especially in practical activities. The implementation of learning in animal structure courses has not been carried out optimally. The indication is from the non-socialization of the learning model used by lecturers which has an impact on various generic skills that are not maximally trained and developed.
