Abstract

Intensive reading instruction plays a crucial role in developing elementary students’ basic literacy. However, its effectiveness is often inadequately evaluated due to limited instruments that capture both learning processes and outcomes. This study aims t o analyze the quality of intensive reading instruction through the integration of classroom observation and standardized tests as a holistic evaluation strategy. A mixed - methods approach with a convergent parallel design was employed, where qualitative and quantitative data were collected simultaneously, analyzed separately, and then integrated. Participants included 12 fifth - grade students and one teacher, selected through purposive sampling for the teacher and total sampling for students. Qualitative data were gathered via structured observations and semi - structured interviews, while quantitative data were obtained through standardized reading tests. Thematic analysis was used to identify patterns of interaction, reading strategies, and student engagement, while quantitative data were analyzed descriptively using averages and score distributions. The findings indicate that learning effectiveness is influenced by consistent reading strategies, clear objectives, and varied literacy activities. The integration of both data types provides a comprehensive and accurate evaluation of instructional quality, offering valuable insights for improving literacy practices in elementary education.

Abstract

Teachers play a crucial role in the development of students' personalities. This role is not easy because, in addition to mastering the concepts taught to students, teachers must also be able to understand student characteristics. Teachers must be able to be role models, motivators, and evaluators for students. This study aims to comprehensively examine the role of teachers in fostering and developing emotional intelligence in second-grade students at Muhammadiyah 01 Mantingan Elementary School, Ngawi. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach, with data analysis techniques that include observation, interviews, documentation, and field notes. The subjects of the study were one second-grade teacher and 24 second-grade students. The results of this study indicate that teachers play an important role as role models in shaping students' emotional intelligence and have implemented it optimally. The teacher's role as a motivator in shaping the emotional intelligence of second-grade students has also been running optimally, as seen from the students' active participation during the learning process. In addition, the role of an educator as an evaluator during the process of developing students' emotional intelligence has also been carried out independently by second-grade students and has also been implemented quite well. The forms of students' emotional intelligence are as follows: 1) self-awareness, namely being able to understand oneself, 2) emotional management where students are able to control emotions in every situation, 3) motivation including high enthusiasm in learning, 4) empathy towards others and 5) social skills, being able to interact with teachers and friends.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the use of E-LKPD based on an investigation approach on the critical thinking skills of 5th grade students at MI Pembangunan UIN Jakarta in mathematics. The research method used is Pre Experimental Design. The research design used is One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The research instrument used is 10 essay questions that have been tested for validity and reliability. The data collection technique used is a test in the form of descriptive questions and documentation. The data analysis technique used in this study uses the normality test with the Shapiro Wilk technique. Furthermore, the homogeneity test uses One Way ANOVA. Then the hypothesis test uses the Paired  Sample T-test with a significance level of 5%. The average pretest score is 33.24 and the posttest is 41.52. The average N-Gain Score is 49% and is included in the "Medium" category. The results of this study indicate that there is an effect of the use of E-LKPD based on an investigation approach on the critical thinking skills of 5th grade students of MI Pembangunan UIN Jakarta in mathematics. This can be proven by the results of the t-test on the average post-test score, which obtained a p < 0.05, meaning that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted.

Abstract

Learning IPAS (Integrated Science and Social Studies) in elementary schools is often hampered by the lack of interactive media which results in low student learning interest. This study aims to develop crossword puzzle learning media and determine the level of media feasibility and student responses to its use in increasing student learning interest. The research method used is Research and Development (R&D) with the ADDIE. The research subjects were students of class third A MI Ma'arif 18 Trimurjo. Data collection techniques were carried out through documentation, interviews with class teachers and principals, validation questionnaires from material experts and media experts, and student response questionnaires. The results of the study showed that the developed crossword puzzle media obtained a feasibility percentage of (100%) from material experts and media experts with a very feasible category. Student responses to the use of crossword puzzle media also obtained a percentage (100%) with a very good category, which indicates that this media is very valid and feasible to increase student learning interest in science learning. The study results show that crossword puzzle are a viable alternative solution for science learning. The use of this creative medium has a positive impact on increasing student learning interest, making it a strategic choice for creating a more dynamic and enjoyable learning environment.

Abstract

This study aims to develop and evaluate Morph-based interactive PowerPoint learning media to enhance elementary students’ engagement in learning the solar system. Despite the growing use of digital learning media, limited studies have specifically examined Morph-based PowerPoint focusing on students’ multidimensional engagement, including behavioral, emotional, and cognitive aspects. This study employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach by integrating the ADDIE model with Sukmadinata’s development stages, including preliminary study, product development, and product testing. The participants consisted of 26 sixth-grade students. Data were collected using expert validation sheets, teacher observation sheets, and student response questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive percentage techniques. The findings indicate that the developed media achieved a feasibility score of 100% from both media and subject matter experts. Furthermore, student engagement reached 94% based on teacher observations and 96% based on student responses. These results demonstrate that Morph-based interactive PowerPoint media is effective in enhancing students’ engagement in learning the solar system and contributes to the integration of interactive visualization in elementary science learning.
