Abstract

Overseas students are a group of students who are not limited by the scope of distance, both in the real sense and in terms of differences in cultural background. They are individuals who are foreign to the cultural environment around the campus. Many overseas students are shocked by the culture when they arrive at Telkom University, especially for new students. This condition is psychologically influenced by the distance from the place of origin and far from relatives and family. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method using an interpretive paradigm. The research subjects consisted of primary subjects consisting of Telkom University students from Semarang and secondary subjects who were additional subjects in the form of prior research or related literature. The results of the study showed that the adaptation process experienced by new students from Semarang was caused by differences in the sweet taste which was very distinctive and dominated in their area of ??origin, while the culinary trend of Sundanese Bandung leaned towards salty taste. Likewise the results formed from the adaptation process for students from Semarang based on the five stages of cultural adaptation, show that the experience of each student at each stage is different then both language, taste of food, city safety, geographical conditions, social styles, and negative thoughts are some variables that cause culture shock. Many challenges are experienced by new students from Semarang themselves. As a result, they must be able to adapt by maintaining good relations with their families, interacting with the surrounding community, both the campus and the boarding house environment, so they can learn and understand the local language, and be open and accept all the differences that occur.

Abstract

The use of renewable energy for electricity generation in Indonesia and the world continues to increase because it is environmentally friendly and does not depend on fossil fuels. Research on rooftop solar power plants at the Medan State Polytechnic Building, Department of Electrical Engineering with internet of things aims to implement rooftop solar power plants and determine the performance of rooftop solar power plants in serving electrical loads by controlling electrical loads using the Internet of things. The contribution of this research provides an academic reference for the effective design of a rooftop solar power plant electrical system and savings on electricity bills, especially in the Electrical Engineering Department of the Medan State Polytechnic. The method used in this study is an experimental method, namely collecting data from measurement results, then conducting studies and analysis. The equipment used is NodeMCU ESP 8266, 3300wp photovoltaic module, PZEM 004T sensor, Triac BT 136, inverter, RTC DS 3231, contactor, electricity meter, temperature and light intensity meter, battery system, control panel and other supporting equipment. the internet of things as a load controller from a solar power plant can effectively contribute to saving electricity consumption because reluctance to turn off lights that are not used doesn't make sense because they can be controlled remotely or in close proximity practically using a cellphone via the blynk application. Full load is applied to the solar power plant by activating the four lighting load group buttons on the Blynk IoT app. The average battery voltage at loading is 51.6 volts from a normal battery voltage of 48 volts with the lowest battery voltage of 48.5 volts and the highest battery voltage of 54.31 volts. This rooftop solar power plant in Building C of the Medan State Polytechnic is capable of serving a load of 685 watts for a fixed load that is installed for 11 hours of loading.

Abstract

The use of manufactured sand instead of natural sand in concrete can help preserve rivers or beaches where these natural sand is sourced from. The mechanical properties of these manufactured-sand concretes are comparable to those produced using natural sand. To predict and help optimize the mechanical properties of concrete made with manufactured sand, a model of ANN was developed using python 3.8 programming language in Google Colaboratory environtment. It was found that ANN model with LBFGS weight optimization algorithm and 50 hidden layer nodes has the best performance, with RMSE = 0.067081. The accuracy of prediction made with this model is calculated to be 90.58% by means of R-squared value and 95.37% by mean absolute error (MAE) value.

Abstract

The significance of analyzing teacher performance in order to develop future competency, which might lead to rewarding teachers who have been evaluated according to established assessment criteria. Numerous studies have been conducted to aid in the process of evaluating teacher performance, revealing that the problem of evaluating teacher performance involves multi-attribute decision making problems; therefore, this study aims to use the AHP method as a decision support method due to the benefits of AHP in describing the relationship between criteria, attributes, and alternatives via a decision hierarchy structure. The evaluation standards include Discipline (C1), Service Orientation (C2), Integrity (C3), and Cooperation (C4) (C4). The results demonstrated that there are recommendations for decision results, namely determining the priority weight of the criteria so that the value of each alternative can be maximized in each criterion, with assessment techniques tailored to the existing business processes in each school. The determination of objective criteria priority weights can also influence the final ranking results of the evaluation of elementary school teachers' performance.

Abstract

Choosing the appropriate online selling platform as a small or medium-sized firm (SME) can help grow sales and expand customer base. Using decision-making approaches with the Simple Additive Weighting (SAW) method, you can select the greatest option among multiple alternatives while selecting the best sales platform. This research aims to assist MSMEs in evaluating and assessing online sales platforms based on the assessment criteria of Average transactions (C1), Unsuccessful transactions (C2), Transaction time (C3), Ease of use of the application (C4), Application errors (C5), and Satisfaction in usage features (C6). The results indicated that alternative A4, Instagram, was the greatest alternative online sales platform, followed by alternative A2, Go Food, as the second-ranking alternative, alternative A3, Grab Food, as the third-ranking alternative, and alternative A1, WhatsApp, as the fourth-ranking alternative. Analysis of the final results can be explained by the tendency of the most prioritized criteria with high criteria weight values, namely the average transaction criteria (C1), ease of use (C4), and application user feature satisfaction (C6), to influence the final results of alternative ranking; the final results of ranking can certainly serve as an alternative option for MSME decisions regarding the selection of online sales platforms.

Abstract

The function of interactive multimedia in learning facilitates teachers' application of technology to the teaching and learning process and facilitates students' active and interactive learning with the aid of visualization media. Geometry is one of the hardest elementary school courses. There is a need for media that can represent complex material for easier comprehension, so that the research to build interactive multimedia on geometry learning can aid children in comprehending geometry material and boost student enthusiasm in learning geometry. The interactive multimedia development technique employs the ADDIE model because extremely useful for utilizing interactive multimedia to promote the growth of student comprehension and attainment of learning objectives. The results indicated that interactive multimedia learning geometry in elementary school can be an alternative learning medium can aid teachers in the teaching and learning process, particularly in simplifying the explanation of complex learning materials, and students can learn various forms of geometry visually and interactively, making it easier to comprehend and remember the material. Recommendations for additional study based on the questionnaire that can add to the sort of shape of the building space's geometry and can add personality and sound as a narrative of the provided material.

Abstract

Asia Sakti Foods Wahid Manufacturing is a company engaged in food production. For the sake of smooth production activities, the company needs suppliers, but in selecting suppliers, PT. Asia Sakti Foods Wahid Manufacturing still always gets suppliers who are less professional in their work, for example, delivery is not on time, prices are more expensive than market prices and so on, so things like this will have a negative impact on production continuity. The solution to the above problems is PT. Asia Sakti Foods Wahid Manufacturing requires a decision support system that can assist in making decisions on selecting new suppliers using the Weight Sum Model (WSM) method. It is hoped that this system can help overcome problems that exist in the company. The result of this system is a report supporting the decision of a new supplier who is eligible to become a permanent supplier at PT. Asia Sakti Foods Wahid Manufacturing. This report is expected to help reduce the error rate in selecting new suppliers.
