Abstract

Al-‘urf, as one of the sources of Islamic law, plays a strategic role in shaping Islamic economic law, particularly in addressing contemporary socio-economic dynamics. This study examines the application of al-‘urf in the wage system for irrigation services in Gayam Lor Village, Botolinggo District, Bondowoso Regency, where no fixed wage standard is predetermined. The compensation mechanism between irrigation workers (lobenyu) and farmers is based on widely recognized local customary practices. This research employs a qualitative method with normative and descriptive-analytical approaches. The findings indicate that the practice constitutes an ijarah (service-based contract) characterized as ujrah al-mithl, since the wage amount is determined flexibly based on field conditions and is not stated during the contract session. Therefore, this ‘urf al-amali practice possesses Sharia legitimacy as long as mutual consent and fairness between both parties are ensured.

Abstract

This research explores how digital media affects the use of the Malay language among youths in Bengkalis, Riau. Using qualitative methodology with interviews, observation, and digital content analysis, the research involved 23–30 active social media users aged 13–45 years. Findings reveal significant linguistic changes at lexical and syntactic levels, with extensive English borrowing and Indonesian slang becoming normative in digital communication among youth, while standard Malay use erodes. The study identifies negative impacts—including language attrition and cultural identity lossand positive opportunities for creative preservation through digital platforms. Digital media is not merely a threat but also presents avenues for innovative preservation when leveraged by youth. The study suggests community-based programs that empower young people to participate in language preservation, actively support government policies, and integrate digital literacy programs into educational institutions. This study advances understanding of language change in the digital age and offers useful guidance to communities seeking to strike a balance between modern communication and cultural heritage.

Abstract

Professional zakat is a contemporary issue in Islamic law that has emerged alongside changes in the modern economic structure, particularly the dominance of the service sector and bureaucracy. In Indonesia, professional zakat is not only developed through fiqh discourse. Still, it is also institutionalized through public policies, such as the Governor of West Nusa Tenggara Number 15 of 2016 concerning the management of professional zakat for the State Civil Apparatus (ASN). This article aims to analyze these policies from the perspective of fiqh and fiqh proposals, with an emphasis on the validity of the Qiyās method and the application of the structure of ḥukm waḍ'ī zakat. This study employs a juridical-normative approach, analyzing classical and contemporary fiqh literature. The results of the survey show that professional zakat is a matter of ijtihadiyyah, disputed among scholars, and its determination as an administrative obligation through regional regulations may raise methodological concerns, particularly regarding qiyās Ma'a Al-Fāriq and the neglect of zakat conditions and barriers. Therefore, it is necessary to reformulate the professional zakat policy to align more closely with the principles of Islamic law.

Abstract

This study explored the integration of classical Islamic scholars’ (ulama) moral educational thought into the development of contemporary Islamic education curricula. The research was motivated by the concern that current Islamic Religious Education often emphasized cognitive aspects while overlooking the ethical and character-building dimensions deeply rooted in Islamic tradition. Using a qualitative-descriptive approach, the study analyzed selected classical texts by prominent ulama such as Al-Ghazali, Ibn Miskawayh, and Ibn Khaldun, focusing on their concepts of moral education, character formation, and the philosophical foundations of ethics in learning. The findings showed that their thoughts provided valuable insights for constructing a holistic curriculum that balanced knowledge, spirituality, and character. The study revealed that integrating classical moral philosophy enriched curriculum content, pedagogical approaches, and evaluation models in contemporary Islamic education. The discussion emphasized the significance of reconnecting with Islamic intellectual heritage to establish a value-based education that responded to modern educational challenges. This research contributed theoretically to curriculum development and advocated for a culturally rooted and morally grounded educational paradigm.

Abstract

The problem of extremism and terrorism is one of the most serious and pressing issues facing contemporary society. It has become an urgent concern for those interested in the state of religion. This study will address the role of faith in confronting extremism and terrorism, based on the ideas of Sheikh Afif al-Din Mahajir in his booklet, which remains unpublished. The research aims to analyze the concepts of faith and security in this ideology, reveal the mechanisms that link them in confronting extremism, and evaluate the effectiveness of this vision in addressing this problem. To our knowledge, this topic has not been addressed in previous studies. The research relied on an inductive and analytical approach to analyze Sheikh Afif al-Din Mahjar's thought. The research concludes that Sheikh Afif al-Din Mahjar's thought presents an integrated vision of the concepts of faith and security, and that this vision contributes effectively to countering extremism and terrorism by strengthening the relationship between the three sisterhoods (brotherhood of faith, Islamic brotherhood, and human brotherhood), strengthening social ties, and developing proper religious awareness and good deeds. Sheikh Afif al-Din Mahajir's thought is characterized by moderation and balance, rejecting extremism in all its forms and manifestations.

Abstract

In Islamic law, the distribution of inheritance must be determined fairly based on the Faraidh principle, which regulates the share of each heir according to Islamic Sharia. However, in practice, manual calculations in inheritance distribution often lead to conflicts and errors, especially in more complex cases such as the distribution of inheritance for adopted children. This study aims to analyze the role of Faraidh mathematics in determining the inheritance of adopted children and evaluate the effectiveness of the use of the I-waris application. The research method used is a qualitative descriptive approach with a literature study of Sharia sources and an analysis of the effectiveness of the I-waris application. Data were obtained from document reviews and application feature trials. The results of the study indicate that the integration of mathematics through digital applications such as I-Waris is an innovative solution in dealing with the complexity of determining inheritance rights, especially when involving adopted children. Based on the research that has been conducted, it can be concluded that the application of faraidh mathematics through the I-waris application has proven effective in solving the problem of calculating the inheritance of adopted children.

Abstract

Zakat Mal, as one of the pillars of Islam, plays a strategic role in maintaining the social and economic balance of the community. However, public understanding of calculating the nishob of Zakat Mal is often still limited, so a more systematic and applicable approach is needed. This study aims to analyze the calculation of nishob of Zakat Mal using mathematical modeling as a bridge between fiqh studies and numerical methods. The research method used is a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) with thematic analysis, identifying recurring patterns from various studies, and utilizing sources such as journals and the Book of Fathul Qorib Mujib. The results of this study successfully present a systematic mathematical modeling for calculating the nishob of Zakat Mal, including Zakat on livestock (camels, cows, goats), gold, silver, and agricultural products. This modeling uses basic concepts of numbers, arithmetic operations, multiplication, and linear functions. In conclusion, mathematical modeling in calculating the nishob of Zakat Mal is very appropriate, providing great benefits in facilitating Muzaki and amil Zakat and increasing students' understanding and interest in integrating mathematics and Fiqh in education. Moreover, mathematical modeling not only provides practical solutions in the distribution of Zakat obligations but also contributes to strengthening numerical literacy in the religious field and opens up opportunities for developing a digital Zakat system in the modern era.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of public service management at Banyuputih Community Health Center (Puskesmas). The main focus of the research includes planning, organizing, implementation, and supervision processes in the delivery of healthcare services. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed to obtain an in-depth understanding through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results indicate that public service management has been carried out in a relatively systematic manner, although several obstacles remain, such as limited medical personnel, inadequate facilities, and suboptimal evaluation systems. Improvement efforts are continuously being made through enhanced internal coordination and the refinement of service information systems. These findings highlight the importance of strengthening managerial functions in public services, particularly in the health sector, to improve community satisfaction and institutional performance.

Abstract

Educational transformation in the contemporary digital era, marked by globalization and rapid technological advancement, demands an adaptive, integrative, and contextual curriculum. In the context of madrasahs, the Islamic Religious Education (PAI) curriculum is required not only to preserve Islamic values but also to address challenges in digital literacy and social dynamics. This study aims to examine the alignment of the PAI curriculum structure in madrasahs with the demands of the contemporary digital era. This research employs a literature review, analyzing relevant scientific journals, academic books, and research articles. The findings indicate that the existing PAI curriculum structure in madrasahs remains fragmented, with limited integration among PAI subjects and insufficient alignment with the competencies required in the 21st Century. The reconstruction of the curriculum structure based on integrative principles, contextual learning, and the utilization of educational technology is considered capable of enhancing the effectiveness of PAI learning. This study concludes that reconstructing the PAI curriculum structure is a strategic necessity to strengthen religious character while simultaneously developing students’ competencies in the contemporary digital era.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to outline how the Script-Type Cooperative Learning Model is used at Asembagus 1 State Junior High School to help students in Islamic Religious Education, grade VIII A, enhance their critical thinking abilities. The significance of critical thinking abilities as a 21st-century talent that must be acquired via active, group, and purposeful learning serves as the foundation for this study.Descriptive qualitative research methodology was employed, and data was gathered by documentation, interviews, and observation. The Miles and Huberman model, which comprises data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing, was used to examine the data. Triangulation of sources, methods, and time was used to assess the validity of the data.According to the findings, the Script-Type Cooperative Model was implemented in several steps, including pairing up, allocating resources, assigning speaker and listener roles, exchanging viewpoints, and coming to consensus. It has been demonstrated that using this technique enhances students' critical thinking abilities, as seen by signs like explaining, analyzing, forming conclusions, and posing and responding to questions. Additionally, education promotes social skills, the ability to voice one's thoughts, a sense of accountability, and the incorporation of Islamic principles into the educational process. The study's findings indicate that the cooperative script-type model works well for developing students' religious character and critical thinking abilities. This methodology merits further development in Islamic religious education as well as other subject areas, provided that teachers serve as facilitators and that the necessary infrastructure is in place.
