The Indonesian Journal of Social Studies was founded in 2018 in order to offer the disciplines in the field of social science education a representative scholarly publication. The journal represents a sophisticated image that is characterised by its theory and research orientation, interdisciplinary approach, internationalism and originality as well as by a rigorous anonymous peer review. The Indonesian Journal of Social Studies is a journal published every 6 months, namely July and December, published by the Department of Social Studies, Universitas Negeri Surabaya. Abstract

The purpose of students is to learn and complete their studies in preparing for a sustainable future. The quality of friendship can be found in the lecture environment while students undergo a learning process in completing their studies. The purpose of this study was to analyze the circle of peer association in UPI PIPS students class of 2020 on student learning outcomes during the lecture process. The method in this study uses qualitative methods. Data collection was carried out using purposive sampling techniques and then continued with snow ball sampling with the interview method, followed by 12 UPI PIPS student informants class of 2020. The results showed that positive friendship circles were important to support students, especially in deepening and execution of material, discussing , sharing important information, reminding each other's duties, and being an encouragement as difficult as any situation in the world of lectures. However, a circle of friendship can also have a negative impact, for example, carried away by hedonism, forgetting the purpose of studying, lazy to do the task, and feel alienated when in the middle of a friend who is not from the circle of their friendship. Thus, it can be concluded that a circle of friendship can be a factor that determines attitudes towards oneself and others, in adapting, seeking self -recognition, self -development, and enthusiasm for lectures. Abstract

This study examined the Nigeria police force and the challenge of combating internal insecurity in Nigeria. The Broken Windows Theory (BWT) was employed as the theoretical framework to guide the study. This theoretical paper draws its arguments primarily from secondary sources of data, such as existing legal frameworks and other associated policies, journal publications and textbooks. The study concluded that peace, security and safety are necessary and indispensable requirement for development and attainment of quality livelihood in society. Nigeria has recently experienced uncommon crises and feeling unsafe, each of which has resulted in the loss of lives and the destruction of property. This study recommended that State governments should be allowed by law to establish local police authority and recruits from within their communities, as opposed to posting officers and men from diverse geographical and cultural backgrounds across the country. This will go a long way toward addressing the state's unique security challenges.

Abstract

Abstrak Penelitian  ini  bertujuan  untuk  menganalisis  kelayakan  dan  keefektifan  hasil pengembangan model integrasi pembelajaran IPS berbasis pendidikan agama, menggunakan Four-D Model  Thiagarajan. Penelitian ini sampai tahap disseminate yaitu tahap penyebaran  kepada  MGMP  guru  mata  pelajaran  IPS  kabupaten  Sidoarjo. Penelitian dilakukan di MTs Fadllillah. Model pembelajaran  IPS  berbasis  pendidikan  agama  merupakan  representasi  untuk pembelajaran berbasis agama yang menggambarkan karakteristik keterpaduan IPS dari awal hinga akhir. Dilakukan pengembangan pada : 1) kajian manusia tempat dan lingkungannya   sebagai   materi   berbasis   agama;   2)   pengorganisasian   kegiatan pembelajaran merujuk pada pembelajaran konstektual; dan 3) evaluasi pencapaian kompetensi siswa secara otentik. Berdasarkan penilaian ahli, model pembelajaran dinyatakan  layak  digunakan  dengan  skor  tertinggi  89,5%.  Berdasarkan  hasil perhitungan  rata-rata  ketuntasan  individu  pada  pretest  sebesar  30,4%  siswa dinyatakan tuntas dan posttest sebesar 78,2% siswa dinyatakan tuntas. Berdasarkan perhitungan  tersebut  terjadi  kenaikan  signifikan  yaitu  sebesar  47,8%.  Oleh sebab itu model pembelajaran dinyatakan efektif untuk meningkatkan kompetensi pengetahuan dan kompetensi sikap siswa. Kata Kunci: Model Pembelajaran, IPS, Pendidikan Agama.   Abstract This study aims to analyze the feasibility and effectiveness of the results of integrating a social studies learning model based on religious education, using the Four-D Thiagarajan Model. This research reached the disseminate stage, namely the dissemination stage to the MGMP for social studies teachers in Sidoarjo district. The research was conducted at MTs Fadllillah Tambak Sumur. The social studies learning model based on religious education is a representation for religion-based learning that describes the characteristics of the integration of social studies from the beginning to the end. Development is carried out on 1) Study of the human being, place and environment as religious-based material; 2) organizing learning activities refers to contextual learning; and 3) evaluation of student competency achievement authentically. Based on expert judgment, the learning model was declared suitable for use with the highest score of 89.5%. Based on the results of the calculation of the average individual completeness in the pretest of 30.4% of students declared complete and posttest of 78.2% of students declared complete. Based on these calculations there was a significant increase of 47.8%. The learning model is declared effective for developing knowledge and attitudes about caring for the surrounding environment through writing activities. Writing activities support the concept of humanistic psychology, namely the teacher's efforts to accept and develop students' potential. Abstract

Project-based learning is learning with long-term activities that involve students in designing, creating, and displaying products to solve real-world problems. Project-based learning is based on previous theories and then referred to as a form of project-based learning construct. This research was conducted to improve students' social skills through project-based learning. This research, based on interviews and observations of class 5 at SD Muhammadiyah 24 Surabaya, found that students' social skills were still low. This research aimed to improve children's social skills by using models of project-based learning. The research method used is Kurt Lewin's Class Action Research (PTK) model. The research subjects were 24 fifth-grade students at SD Muhammadiyah 24 Surabaya. This research was carried out through pre-intervention stages, cycle I and cycle II. Data analysis techniques are qualitative and quantitative data analysis. The results of the research show that there is an increase in students' social skills, namely the ability to take turns or share, the ability to appreciate or respect, the ability to help or assist, the ability to follow instructions, the ability to control emotions, the ability to convey opinions, the ability to accept opinions obtained from data up to cycle II and obtain the increase in the average value was 45. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the modelproject based learning can improve students' social skills.

Abstract

Karakter mahasiswa anti-plagiarisme menjadi fokus utama dalam artikel ini, menggali esensi integritas dan etika dalam dunia pendidikan tinggi. Pembahasan dimulai dengan mengidentifikasi plagiat sebagai permasalahan serius yang dapat merusak moralitas mahasiswa dan kredibilitas akademik. Artikel merinci bagaimana tindakan plagiat, dari copy-paste hingga penggantian bahasa, dapat membentuk kebiasaan buruk yang akhirnya mencirikan karakter seseorang. Kasus plagiat di berbagai negara, termasuk Indonesia, Australia, dan Amerika Serikat, menjadi ilustrasi perluasan dampak plagiat di tingkat global. Selanjutnya, artikel membahas upaya pencegahan plagiat oleh pemerintah dan lembaga pendidikan, termasuk penggunaan software anti-plagiarisme seperti Turnitin. Meskipun langkah-langkah ini penting, penulis menyoroti kebutuhan akan sikap kejujuran dan integritas dari mahasiswa itu sendiri. Dekatnya hubungan antara plagiat dan degradasi moral mahasiswa, terutama di lingkungan akademis yang kurang teliti dalam memeriksa tugas, menjadi poin penekanan dalam pembahasan. Artikel ini menyajikan solusi alternatif dengan mengusulkan implementasi nilai-nilai filosofis Pancasila sebagai dasar karakter anti-plagiat. Penerapan nilai-nilai seperti ketuhanan, kemanusiaan, persatuan, kerakyatan, dan keadilan sosial diharapkan dapat membentuk mahasiswa yang tidak hanya kompeten secara akademis tetapi juga memiliki moralitas tinggi. Dengan demikian, karakter mahasiswa anti-plagiat bukan hanya menjadi tujuan pendidikan tinggi, tetapi juga langkah menuju kemajuan bangsa dan integritas global.intelektual muda ternyata melalukan “pencurian” karya intelektual orang lain. Contoh kasus plagiarisme yang terjadi di tanah air yaitu pada 2 mahasiswa Jurusan Ilmu Komunikasi Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) yang ketahuan plagiat pada skripsinya pada November 2012 lalu. Bahkan kasus ini terjadi pada mahasiswa S3 Institut Teknologi Bandung pada 2010 lalu bernama Mochammad Zuliansyah yang melakukan plagiat pada disertasinya. Kasus plagiarisme yang dilakakukan mahasiswa sebenarnya bukan hanya terjadi di Indonesia saja, bahkan di Australia sendiri pada menurut laporan The West Australian hari Jumat (19/4/2013), angka yang didapat dari empat universitas di Australia Barat menunjukkan bahwa dalam dua tahun terakhir, 4.000 mahasiswa mendapatkan peringatan ataupun tindakan indisipliner karena plagiarissme dalam tulisan mereka. Bahkan kasus ini terjadi di Amerika Serikat yaitu di Universitas Harvard dimana pada Agustus 2012 lalu skandal plagiarisme massal mahasiswa terungkap yang melibatkan 125 orang mahasiswa universitas Harvard. Ini tentunya menjadi polemik di negara –negara tersebut termasuk Indonesia. Namun perbedaan plagiarisme di kedua negara itu dengan Indonesia yaitu negara maju itu sudah mengecek dengan teliti dan detail setiap tugas mahasiswa dan dibantu oleh lembaga- lembaga anti-plagiarisme. Selain itu pula plagiarisme dianggap kriminal di negara- negara tersebut dan diberikan sanksi yang tegas terhadap pelakunya hingga dapat dilakukan penahanan berupa penjara. Sedangkan kasus di Indonesia, kasus plagiat baru diketahui pada penulisan tugas akhir saja seperti skripsi hingga disertasi, padahal pada tugas akademik sehari-hari tindakan plagiat banyak terjadi namun tidak diketahui. Tindakan copy-paste tugas sehari-hari hingga skripsi tanpa mencantumkan sumber memang menjadi kebiasaan mahasiswa pada umumnya terutama di Indonesia. Kata kunci : 1. Anti plagiarisme, 2. Mahasiswa, 3. Etika abstract The anti-plagiarism character of students is the main focus in this article, exploring the essence of integrity and ethics in the world of higher education. The discussion begins by identifying plagiarism as a serious problem that can damage student morality and academic credibility. The article details how acts of plagiarism, from copy-pasting to language substitution, can form bad habits that ultimately characterize a person's character. Plagiarism cases in various countries, including Indonesia, Australia and the United States, illustrate the expanding impact of plagiarism at the global level. Next, the article discusses efforts to prevent plagiarism by the government and educational institutions, including the use of anti-plagiarism software such as Turnitin. Although these steps are important, the authors highlight the need for an attitude of honesty and integrity on the part of students themselves. The close relationship between plagiarism and the moral degradation of students, especially in academic environments that are less thorough in checking assignments, is a point of emphasis in the discussion. Abstract

Abstrak Artikel ini membahas tentang implementasi nilai-nilai Pancasila dalam konteks kehidupan globalisasi pada era saat ini. Globalisasi telah membawa dampak signifikan terhadap berbagai aspek kehidupan, termasuk nilai-nilai budaya dan moral. Dalam konteks ini, Pancasila sebagai dasar negara Indonesia menjadi landasan utama untuk menjaga identitas dan integritas bangsa di tengah arus globalisasi. Artikel ini menguraikan bagaimana nilai-nilai Pancasila, seperti gotong royong, keadilan sosial, demokrasi, dan kemanusiaan, dapat diimplementasikan secara praktis dalam kehidupan globalisasi. Perubahan teknologi dan komunikasi telah mempercepat interaksi antarbangsa, sehingga penting untuk memastikan bahwa nilai-nilai lokal tetap terjaga dan menjadi panduan bagi masyarakat. Melalui analisis kasus dan pendekatan praktis, artikel ini memberikan wawasan tentang bagaimana individu, masyarakat, dan pemerintah dapat berperan aktif dalam memastikan bahwa kehidupan globalisasi tidak mengorbankan nilai-nilai kultural dan moral yang telah ditanamkan oleh Pancasila. Abstract

Pancasila dalam wajah globalisasi dan pembentukan Pembangunan Berkelanjutan (SDGs) adalah tiga elemen yang sangat penting dalam pembentukan pandangan dunia dan kebijakan di era kontemporer. Pancasila, sebagai dasar negara Indonesia, mengandung prinsip-prinsip seperti persatuan, keadilan sosial, dan demokrasi yang mencerminkan nilai-nilai inti yang dipegang oleh masyarakat Indonesia.Globalisasi telah membawa perubahan luar biasa dalam cara dunia berinteraksi, menghubungkan negara-negara dan budaya-budaya dengan cara yang belum pernah terjadi sebelumnya. Meskipun menghadirkan peluang untuk pertumbuhan ekonomi dan inovasi, globalisasi juga memunculkan tantangan seperti ketidaksetaraan ekonomi dan kerentanan lingkungan.SDGs, sebagai panduan global untuk pembangunan berkelanjutan, bertujuan untuk mengatasi masalah global seperti kemiskinan, ketidaksetaraan, dan perubahan iklim. Implementasi SDGs membutuhkan kerja sama internasional yang kuat dan komitmen dari negara-negara di seluruh dunia.Pancasila, dalam konteks globalisasi, dapat menjadi kerangka kerja moral yang relevan. Abstract

This article discusses the crucial role of the Pancasila ideology in the life of the Indonesian state amid the rapidly evolving tide of globalization. Globalization has brought complex impacts on Indonesian society and politics, and the Pancasila ideology serves as a crucial guide in maintaining the stability and integrity of the nation. The article explains how Pancasila functions as a framework of values, a guide in international relations, and a foundation for just public policies in the context of globalization. The implications of Pancasila in government decision-making and the formation of national identity are also analyzed in this article, highlighting the relevance and significance of the Pancasila ideology in shaping life in the present era. In the current era of globalization, the values embedded in Pancasila are increasingly fading. This situation can be observed through the emergence of numerous problems due to the failure to practice the values inherent in Pancasila. Abstract

Article focuses on the social history of the Chinese community in Surakarta in 20th century. Therefore, the discussion will emphasize various activities of daily life as a reflection of the social life of the Balong community. In this way we will be able to understand the history of social life and the changes that have occurred in that community. Chinese history in Surakarta has become a meaningful reality for students in Surakarta, but has not been summarized in the national curriculum, so much of the history learning carried out has not touched on this theme. This research will measure whether this sun can be summarized in the narrative of history learning at high school in Surakarta. The method used is the historical method. The results obtained from this research are that history learning can be applied by strengthening learning resources and textbooks, so that based on the existing material it develops into local themes which are summarized in history learning.
