Abstract

The implementation of literacy activities, both from government ideas and independent school ideas, is still not running optimally. This research aims to review the problems of implementing literacy activities in elementary schools. The method used in this research is Systematic Literature Review (SLR) where researchers try to collect and integrate various findings from previous research related to barriers to implementing literacy activities in elementary schools. The results of the research found general obstacles to implementing literacy activities in elementary schools, namely: (1) Lack of facilities and infrastructure to support literacy activities; (2) Lack of interest in reading by students; (3) Lack of drive for school literacy activities; (4) Lack of teacher innovation in the use of literacy learning media; and (5) Lack of parental support. Meanwhile, the solutions offered are:(1) Fulfillment of facilities and infrastructure, especially libraries and reading books; (2) Optimization of reading literacy activities 15 minutes before learning; (3) Maximizing the role of teachers as drivers of literacy activities in schools; (4) Innovation in literacy learning such as the use of media and use of technology; and (5 Maximizing the role of parents as a motivator to increase interest in reading. Based on the results and discussion that have been presented, it can be concluded that in implementing literacy activities in elementary schools there are still many problems encountered, but there are also many solutions offered.

Abstract

Abstract

Digital libraries have become an important element in supporting learning in elementary schools along with the rapid development of technology and the digitization of education. This study aims to explore the role of digital libraries in improving the accessibility of learning resources, students' digital literacy, and the effectiveness of teachers' teaching in elementary schools through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach. Data was obtained from 15 reputable journals published in the 2019-2024 time span, with selection using the PRISMA method to ensure the relevance and validity of the studies analyzed. The results showed that digital libraries have a positive impact on the affordability of teaching materials, increase students' interest in reading, and enrich technology-based learning strategies for teachers. In addition, digital libraries play a role in the development of 21st-century skills, such as critical thinking, collaboration, and digital communication. However, the main challenges in the implementation of digital libraries include infrastructure limitations, human resource readiness, and access disparities in certain regions. This study emphasizes the need for strategic policies to optimize digital libraries in primary schools, including improved teacher training and strengthening of technological infrastructure. Thus, digital libraries can function optimally in supporting inclusive and quality learning in the era of digitalization.

This study aims to determine the feasibility and practicality in the process of developing an Interactive PowerPoint learning media in Indonesian language subjects. This research uses the DDD-E model development type consisting of Decide, Design, Develop, and Evaluate. Data collection was obtained using observation sheets, validation instruments, and also student response questionnaires. The research data shows the feasibility level of interactive PowerPoint media according to material experts, which is very valid with a score of 88. The level of feasibility according to media experts is quite valid with a value of 79. The results of the student response questionnaire obtained 96.1% with a very practical category. The conclusion of this study is that the development of Interactive PowerPoint learning media is feasible and practical to use in learning activities in Indonesian language subjects for grade VI elementary school students.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the SMILE model (Sustainable, Multicultural, Inclusive Learning Evaluation) in optimizing ethnopedagogy-based teaching skills among prospective elementary school teachers. The main issue addressed in this research is the limited integration of local values and cultural wisdom in the teaching practices of teacher candidates, which may hinder the development of students' cultural identity. The study was conducted at a public university in Indonesia, involving 180 students from the Elementary Teacher Education Program. A quasi-experimental method with a quantitative approach was employed. Research instruments included an observation sheet for teaching skills and an ethnopedagogical perception questionnaire, both of which had been tested for validity (r > 0.70) and reliability (α = 0.89). Data were analyzed using paired t-tests and ANCOVA to measure the effectiveness of the intervention. The results showed a significant increase in ethnopedagogy-based teaching skill scores (pretest mean = 71.43; posttest mean = 85.62; p < 0.001). The findings conclude that the SMILE model is effective in preparing teacher candidates to integrate local cultural values into the learning process, thereby supporting sustainable education rooted in local identity.
