Abstract

Abstract: This paper is part of research that aims to examine a significant historical area in Singapore, namely the Boat-Quay area, through the theory of permeability. Permeability theory is a theory introduced by Kevin Lynch as part of urban planning theory. This study also aims to understand how the legibility of a historic area, especially Boat-Quay, Singapore through its permeability, namely the ability to be easily accessible for its users. Several principles in this permeability will be used as material to analyze the data obtained, so that in this study a qualitative method with a descriptive narrative approach was used. The Boat-Quay area, Singapore was chosen as a case study because this area has been designated as a conservation area by the Singapore government and is an important area to study because of its success in implementing the concept of conservation. The research was carried out for four months with the result achieved by showing how the Boat-Quay Area has its permeability capabilities for users, so that the area can be said to have legitimacy or clarity. Abstract

Abstract

The road median is a supporting feature in the road environment, where it can be used as a landscape design medium to construct an image of the city and express a certain aesthetic experience in addition to serving as a traffic barrier. To have a value and message transmitted in a design, the road median requires a mature concept. Sultan Agung Street is a major thoroughfare in the city of Bandar Lampung, with a large volume of traffic. The government has not completely regulated the two-lane roadways with a median road on Sultan Agung Street. The road median of Sultan Agung Street, which is positioned in a prominent location Bandar Lampung's city, should be able to convey local culture. However, based on the existing state of the road median, no median layout or design that depicts Lampung culture has been discovered. The goal of this research was to examine and determine the Lampung culture notion that may be used to Sultan Agung Street's median. The descriptive qualitative research approach was utilized to identify the size of the site and the cultural themes that will be converted into design concepts by collecting field data. The study's findings are presented in the form of thoughts and sketches for the physical architecture of Sultan Agung Street's median, which incorporates local cultural philosophy. The tapis motif, the construction of the siger, as well as the idea of sailing ships and Lampung ethnic dances are all incorporated into the design.

Abstract

Pedestrian movement in the city center can improve the tourist experience of a city with cultural and historical values, such as Singkawang City in West Kalimantan Province. Pedestrian facility planning requires adequate facilities in a good land use and network system. Assessment of walkability using the Urbano analysis tool can provide an assessment of the area's potential regarding connectivity and the quality of pedestrian paths in the economic center area of Singkawang City. The research results show that the study area has a relatively low walk score of 31 out of 100. This figure shows that the Hong Kong Market Area does not generate pedestrian movement. Several variables in Urbano's analysis that can explained are mainly the low intensity and capacity of buildings and distribution patterns of urban facilities that do not support pedestrians. However, it also shows that the daily necessities trading function dominates in generating walking activity in this area, mainly if it includes a banking function.

Abstract

Local wisdom enhances building aesthetics and imparts philosophical values. Bioclimatic architecture has become popular among architects and designers because it reduces energy consumption without harming the environment. A study at the Universitas Diponegoro Campus Mosque applied bioclimatic design using a traditional joglo roof model simulated with Autodesk Ecotect. Measurements showed the maximum suhue on the second floor reached 28°C. Simulations indicated that bioclimatic design could reduce indoor suhues by 4.3°C - 5.2°C to 24.5°C. This result shows a lower suhue difference compared to the existing design by 7.5°C. This design can be a prospective solution for improving thermal comfort and providing an environmentally friendly design.

discrimination, including people with disabilities. In regulations in Indonesia has also regulated if every public building must provide an accesibility factor in its planning. This convenience is in the form of ease in accessing and using all public facilities. A special disabled parking area is one of the requirements in the application of aspects of building convenience. The availability of special parking areas for people with disabilities in public facilities is one of the starting points in identifying how accessible a building is. In this study, we will discuss the analysis of the level of accessibility of the application of special disabled parking areas in modern shopping centers in the Special Region of Yogyakarta. Modern shopping centers are public facilities that are often accessed by people with various age differences and conditions. Special Region of Yogyakarta also has one of the missions to become an inclusive province. Therefore, this study aims to determine the availability and level of accessibility of standard disabled parking areas in modern shopping centers in the Special Region of Yogyakarta. The method used is a quantitative method with direct observation through measurements and observations which are then compared with the standard for disabled parking areas according to Indonesian regulations. The results of this study are known that 80% of shopping centers in Yogyakarta have disabled parking areas with a high level of accessibility, namely by implementing 4 elements that comply with standards and the dominant problem that exists for the implementation of disabled parking in Yogyakarta shopping centers is the presence of barriers in front of the parking area so that the parking area cannot be used optimally.

Abstract

Territory is a form of occupation and behavior is related to social and cultural context. Understanding children's play territorial, through identifying 1) What children explore during playing in their neighborhood?. This question aims to find out how their their play area settings. 2) What are the element preferences when they play? Elements form the boundaries of children's play space. Territorial play is formed when children find elements around them. Elements automatically mark their ownership of the play space. Related to the setting, children are greatly influenced by the pattern and structure of space in their living environment. The relationship between children's play activities and the setting is clearly visible. This suggested that different play zones afford different experiences with nature, promoting ecological literacy amongst children in the kampung’s transitional space. Play territoriality is closely related to their movement in their environment.
