Abstract

The involvement of women in various aspects of life, both socially and economically, has exposed the potential for criminal behaviour among women. This situation has led to the phenomenon of women's involvement in criminal acts commonly associated with men, such as robbery, murder, organized crime, and human trafficking. Poor social and economic conditions tend to be triggering factors and solid reasons for women to engage in criminal activities. This background has become the basis for the increasing number of women in prison in Indonesia, opening the possibility of various forms of violence within women's prisons. This presents a significant challenge for the management of women's prisons in optimizing the reintegration system due to the escalation of significant demotivation resulting from the violence experienced by female inmates, both among themselves and with prison staff. This research employs an exploratory qualitative approach, focusing on women involved in criminal cases and sentenced to prison. Primary data from interview results are descriptively analysed, producing a comprehensive, authentic, and representative narrative. The findings of this study indicate that the concept of punishment in Indonesia still emphasizes punitive functions over corrective functions, where both physical and mental violence are considered effective forms of punishment, especially for women. Violence occurring within women's prisons is then negatively responded to and becomes a driving factor for the decreased interest of female inmates in succeeding in the reintegration program. This reluctance then triggers a negative response from the staff in the form of violence against female inmates. A solution to mitigate violence in women's prisons is the placement in open prisons, with the involvement of independent external parties in both the supervision process and the implementation of reintegration programs to achieve an inclusive and constructive effect for all parties involved.

Abstract

Research about facial recognition-based attendance system implementing artificial intelligence is usually us-ing laptops or personal computers, as a result, the device is not practical because they have large dimensions and heavy, it is not like Fingerprint attendance’s which is widely used nowadays. Therefore, a portable facial recognition-based attendance that applies artificial intelligence are built by means of Raspberry pi 3 B+. The device’s dimensions are 97, 28, and 66 cm for length, width and height respectively. It is work through three stages, the first one is the face detection. At this stage the device captures the user's face, then image preprocessing is carried out by means of Haar cascade. The second stage is the data training by employing local bi-nary pattern (LBP) algorithm, the last stage is the face recognition. The success rate in recognizing face is 60%, 80% and 100% for 1, 3 and 5 training data respectively. The results show that accuracy of the device is getting higher along with the increasing amount of training data.

Abstract

Stunted toddlers experience chronic malnutrition, which causes a decrease in their immune system, resulting in a higher risk of developing acute and chronic infectious diseases as well as recurrent infections and suffering death. Giving VCO to stunted toddlers aims to improve metabolic function to increase immunity, optimize growth and development, and improve the quality of health status of little toddlers. This research aims to determine the effectiveness of VCO in increasing the immunity of stunted toddlers. This research used a Quasi-Experimental method with 32 stunted toddlers as respondents. The instrument used was a questionnaire given pre-and post-intervention. Data analysis used the Paired t-test. The research results showed that most respondents' immunity level was poor before administering VCO (62.5%). In contrast, after administering VCO, the immunity level of most of the respondents was sufficient (46.9%), with a p-value = 0.01, which means that the administration of VCO has proven effective in increasing immunity in toddlers. It is recommended that the public include VCO as a functional nutrition in therapy for stunting toddlers.

Abstract

Improving the quality of the implementation of the basic education system in the future requires various policies, views, and ideas, which include ideas about primary education in the future that can answer the challenges of the times in a competitive era so that students have noble personalities and are prepared to face globalization and digitalization. The background in preparing this paper is because the authors are concerned about the low quality of primary education in general, especially in the West Nusa Tenggara region. Basic Education Policy in Indonesia has long been a concern of the government, namely since the VOC, Dutch Colonial and Japanese eras. At that time, schools were established to facilitate access to education for specific groups only. Only after Indonesia became independent did the government make serious efforts to establish schools for students and educators to accelerate access to primary education as widely as possible. Various policies were issued by the governments of the Old Order, New Order and Reformation eras until the launch of education report cards as part of the independent learning episode. The results can inspire and reflect the enthusiasm to immediately make improvements in various aspects of education. This research is descriptive qualitative in nature by collecting historical data on primary education policies from the pre-independence period to the present. Data was collected from a number of relevant library materials and then arranged and described in such a way as to answer the problems posed in this paper.

Abstract

Entrepreneurship contributes to economic growth, making it an important factor in advancing society and the economy in the present time. The significance of innovation and entrepreneurship in the current era necessitates that the younger generation understands the subject. This understanding can be achieved through entrepreneurship courses offered in higher education. Based on this, several universities have implemented policies that make entrepreneurship courses mandatory for all students. This research aims to explore in-depth the perception of students, specifically those not majoring in economics, management, business, or social sciences, regarding the entrepreneurship course and the university policy regarding the requirement to take it. The study adopts a qualitative approach using focus group discussion (FGD). The researcher, along with five students from the same university, discusses the learning outcomes of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship course and the university policy regarding the mandatory nature of the course. The FGD generates several points related to the learning outcomes of the course. These include students' ability to comprehend the concepts and principles of entrepreneurship, their ability to generate ideas for business creation, their capacity to develop innovative business plans, and the appropriateness of making the Innovation and Entrepreneurship course mandatory as it benefits all students, including those not majoring in economics, management, business, or social sciences.

Abstract

Air is the most critical factor for human survival, which must and must always be maintained for quality. If the air quality changes from normal, the air has been polluted. Transportation activities are one of the contributing factors to air pollution. UNG is one of the largest campuses in Gorontalo Province, which involves students in increasing the number of residents outside the area who have an impact on campus activities and an increase in the number of vehicles. In the UNG area, street vendors sell from 6 in the morning to midnight. This makes street vendors a group at risk of experiencing health problems due to exposure to NO2 from vehicle exhaust emissions. This type of research is observational with a descriptive study design. This research was conducted on Jalan Jendral Sudirman, around the UNG campus. The population in this study were all street vendors selling around the UNG campus, totaling 58 traders. The sampling technique uses the Total Sampling technique; the entire population is used as a sample. The results showed that the average concentration of NO2 around the UNG campus did not exceed the quality standards set by Government Regulation No. 22 of 2021, namely 0.2 mg/m3, and the most common health complaints experienced by respondents were coughing 43 people (74.1%), body aches and headaches 36 people (62.1%), runny nose 32 people (55.2%), sore throat 12 people (20.7%). Moreover, the least experienced was eye irritation in 2 people (3.4%). It is suggested that there should be monitoring of pollutant concentrations, and it is hoped that street vendors will use masks when selling and reduce selling time.

Abstract

Lithium Ion Battery (LIB) is one type of battery whose demand is increasing every year. After the Li-ion battery usage cycle ends, more and more waste is generated. Wastewater from the LFP battery cathode recycling process still contains metals such as lithium, sodium, and phosphate. This experiment was carried out using the adsorption method. The adsorption method is used to remove metal ions in LFP battery waste. The adsorption process took place in a semi-continuous fixed-bed column made of glass cylinders with a height of 50 cm and a diameter of 2.5 cm. The artificial waste solution flowed into a column containing 135 g of activated carbon with variations in flow rates of 10, 15, and 20 mL/min for 2 hours. The concentration of the initial solution and the filtrate was analyzed using an Inductively Coupled Plasma-Optical Emission Spectrometer (ICP-OES). The experimental results showed that the maximum percentage removal of lithium, sodium, and phosphate at a flow rate of 10 mL/min was 95.22%, 96.42%, and 68.02%, respectively. In addition, the results of the adsorption kinetic studies reviewed using the Thomas and Yoon-Nelson models showed that the column adsorption performance for lithium, sodium, and phosphate was most effective at a flow rate of 10 mL/min with an adsorption capacity of 8.75.105 mg/g, 8.85.105 mg/g, and 3.91.105 mg/g, respectively. Meanwhile, the breakthrough times for lithium, sodium, and phosphate were 335 minutes, 441 minutes, and 126 minutes, respectively.
