Abstract

This research aims to analyze the differences in critical mathematical thinking abilities who receive cooperative learning in the Student Teams-Achievement Divisions (STAD) type and those who undertake the cooperative learning process in the Numbered Head Together (NHT) type. This research design uses a quasi-experimental design. Apart from that, the population in this study were all students of the Taliwang State 1 Middle School West Sumbawa, while the sample was taken in two classes randomly from 18 existing classes (class VIII 3 and class VIII 4). Experimental class 1 consists of 32 people, while experimental class 2 consists of 32 people, so the total is 64 people. Data obtained from thinking ability tests were analyzed univariately, bivariate, and multivariate. The results of the univariate analysis show that the majority of respondents in Experiment 1 were male, 16 females, 16 people each (50%), the majority were of medium ability, 21 people (65.6%), then the High category was 7 people (22%) and the low category as many as 4 people (12.5%), while the majority of respondents in Experiment 2 were 17 people (53.1%) women while 15 people (47%) were men with 17 people (53.1%) in the medium category. High 9 people (28.1% and Low category 6 people (18.7%). Furthermore, the results of bivariate analysis showed that there were differences in students' mathematical critical thinking abilities between experimental class 1 and experimental class 2, while the significant value for the group category was 0.007, this means that there are differences in students' mathematical critical thinking abilities based on the categories of high, medium and low ability students. The results of the multivariate analysis show that the mathematical critical thinking abilities of students who received STAD-. type cooperative learning has a higher increase than students who receive NHT-type cooperative learning.

Abstract

Mathematical reasoning abilities were crucial for comprehending mathematical concepts and equipping students to confront the challenges of the 21st century. However, the persisting issue of students' inadequate mathematical reasoning abilities remained relevant. Hence, this study aimed to assess the efficacy and practicality of educational tools utilizing an open-ended approach with HOTS (higher-order thinking Skills) questions to enhance students' mathematical reasoning capabilities. The research employed the research and development (R&D) method, involving students from Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs) Istiqlal Jakarta and expert educators. This developmental study followed the ADDIE model, encompassing analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages. The research tools included observation sheets for monitoring the learning process, expert assessment questionnaires to evaluate tool suitability, student response surveys, and mathematical reasoning proficiency assessments to gauge tool effectiveness. Findings indicated the feasibility of employing learning tools with HOTS questions and an open-ended approach to enhance students' mathematical reasoning skills, with an average feasibility rate of 89%. Evaluation by validators revealed a 96% average rating, signifying the learning tools' substantial validity for educational use. Furthermore, field trial results demonstrated that 89.29% of students achieved scores surpassing the minimum completeness criteria (MCC) post-tool implementation, affirming its efficacy in enhancing students' mathematical learning capacities. This research suggested that leveraging learning tools with HOTS questions and an open-ended approach presented new avenues for significantly bolstering students' mathematical reasoning skills. This underscored the importance of embracing innovative methodologies in crafting educational materials to foster more captivating and meaningful student-learning encounters.

Abstract

Arbitration or the root word in (Latin) ''arbitrare'' means "the process or method of deciding a dispute through an independent arbitrator or referee". This definition is one of them because legal experts have different opinions or views even though their opinions have the same meaning. Talking about arbitration or arbitration institutions, there has actually been and has been practiced throughout the centuries for the first time introduced by the Greek community before Christ. As for Indonesia, arbitration is known and recognized by citizens as an alternative to problem solving through non-litigation. Alternative dispute resolution, such as arbitration and mediation, is now a popular choice in resolving business conflicts. The method used to collect data is by conducting literature searches published in scientific research articles and journals. The literature search was conducted using several loaded search engines, such as Google Scholar, Pubmed, and Science Direct.  This method is an alternative that is considered more effective and efficient than going through the courts, because the process is faster, lower costs, and the resulting decisions are final and binding. The purpose of this study is how to choose a strategy in drafting clauses in the Arbitration agreement for dispute resolution

Abstract

Adolescence is often considered a transition period marked by significant changes. It is seen as a period of transition, a challenging age, and a time of searching for identity. At the same time, adolescence is also considered the threshold of adulthood because it involves uncertainty and lack of control. Family dynamics also tend to change during the adolescent phase, including increased conflict between teenagers and parents, changes in roles and responsibilities, and changes in expectations placed on teenagers. A mismatch between parental expectations and adolescent behavior can increase the risk of conflict, which in turn can lead to incidents of child abuse. This research aims to determine the relationship between emotional intelligence and self-esteem in adolescents who have experienced child abuse in Sorong City. The method used is quantitative research with a correlational design. A total of 64 teenagers aged 12-21 years and residing in Malagusa sub-district, Sorong City were participants in this research who were taken using a saturated sampling technique. Research measurements used the Wong & Law Emotional Intelligence Scale (WLES) and The Rosenberg Self Esteem Scale (RSES). The research data analysis method uses Pearson Correlation. The research results show that there is a significant positive relationship between emotional intelligence and self-esteem of 0.949 with a significance of 0.000 (p<0.01). This shows that emotional intelligence plays a major and important role in relation to the level of self-esteem of teenagers who have experienced child abuse in Sorong City.

Abstract

The assessment of groundwater vulnerability to contamination in the Sub-Watershed (Sub DAS) Metro plays a crucial role in maintaining the sustainability of water resources. As an integral part of a complex river system, Sub DAS Metro faces the risk of groundwater pollution caused by human activities such as agriculture, industry, and domestic. Thus, research was conducted to determine the level of groundwater vulnerability using the GOD method (Groundwater Occurrence, Depth to Water Table, and Aquifer Media). The study identified three vulnerability classes out of the five existing classes, namely very low, low, and moderate. The GOD index indicates very low vulnerability with values ranging from 0.08 to 0.10, low vulnerability ranging from 0.11 to 0.12, and moderate vulnerability with a value of 0.48. Following the vulnerability assessment using the GOD method, mapping was conducted, assigning green for very low vulnerability areas, yellow for low vulnerability, and red for moderate vulnerability. The research findings provide strategic insights for designing effective mitigation and sustainable management of groundwater quality in Sub DAS Metro, playing a crucial role in preserving the sustainability of the groundwater ecosystem in the region

Abstract

Petroleum processing generally begins with a heating process, so equipment is needed to heat the crude oil before entering the fractionation column. This heating is closely related to the separation of fractions based on differences in boiling points. Heating at a fairly high temperature is used by a furnace, where the heat source comes from gas fuel. Based on the discussion above, furnace efficiency is fascinating to calculate as an indication of whether or not the furnace is operational. This efficiency calculation is also a reference for PT. Trans-Pacific Petrochemical Indotama to shut down and repair equipment, especially furnaces. This research aims to understand the furnace's working principles, determine the parameters that influence furnace performance, and calculate the efficiency of Furnace 201-H-001 in the Prefractionation unit. The results obtained in this research are that there are variables used to calculate thermal furnace efficiency. These variables are air temperature, fuel gas temperature, fuel gas flow, flue gas temperature, theoretical air requirements, and excess air in terms of efficiency and combustion reactions. The results of the furnace efficiency calculations were 78.03%, 77.34%, and 77.75% respectively. The minimum thermal efficiency value ranges from 75 - 80%, so it can be said that the furnace in this research is still suitable for use.
