Abstract

Amidst the development of digital technology, Sharia Financial Technology (Fintech) has emerged as an alternative solution that not only offers service efficiency but also ensures compliance with Islamic economic principles such as the prohibition of usury, distributive justice, and transaction ethics. This study aims to determine: (1) the concept of financial inclusion in conventional and Islamic economics; (2) the development and characteristics of Sharia Fintech in Indonesia; (3) Islamic economic principles such as maqashid al-shariah, distributive justice, and transaction ethics; and (4) policies and regulations that affect the Sharia Fintech ecosystem. The method used is a literature study with thematic analysis of academic literature and related regulations. The results show that Sharia Fintech has great potential in expanding fair and halal financial access, especially for groups of people who are not yet served by the conventional financial system. By integrating digital technology and Islamic values, Sharia Fintech is able to bridge the economic gap while strengthening Sharia financial literacy. However, challenges such as low public understanding of Sharia contracts and suboptimal specific regulations still need to be addressed. The implications of this study emphasize the importance of synergy between regulators, industry players, academics, and the community in building an inclusive, ethical, and sustainable Sharia Fintech ecosystem. This study also contributes theoretically to the development of a value-based financial inclusion model and provides a basis for formulating policies that are more responsive to the economic needs of the community.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the factors that influence the intention of Muslims to donate their digital intellectual property rights as part of productive waqf assets using the Theory of Planned Behaviour (TPB) model. The research employs Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) and utilizes purposive sampling with primary data collected from a questionnaire distributed to selected respondents in 2022. The findings reveal that attitude toward behavior, subjective norm, and perceived behavioral control significantly and positively influence the intention to donate digital intellectual property for productive waqf. Among these, attitude toward behavior emerges as the most dominant factor. This indicates the potential for digital intellectual property to be a viable waqf asset, offering new opportunities for waqf institutions in Indonesia. The study is limited to Muslim individuals in the Jakarta area, focusing on copyright as a transferrable digital asset under Indonesian waqf and copyright laws. This research contributes to Islamic economics and waqf management by applying TPB in a digital context and providing practical insights for developing digital-based waqf programs.

Abstract

Abstract

Islamic Microfinance Institutions play a strategic role in providing financial services that comply with Sharia principles, including through innovative savings products that benefit members. One of the products offered by KSPPS Artha Yasmin Az Zahra Jepara is the Simpanan Sembako (Simko) savings program. Compliance with fatwas and Sharia principles is a crucial factor in maintaining member trust and ensuring the legality of transactions. This study aims to analyze Sharia compliance in the Simko savings product at KSPPS Artha Yasmin Az Zahra, focusing on the issue of implementing Sharia compliance in the practice of Simko. Using a qualitative case study approach, primary data were obtained through direct field research, including interviews with the Manager, members, and the Sharia Supervisory Board (DPS) of KSPPS Artha Yasmin Az Zahra, Jepara Regency. Secondary data were obtained from various sources such as reports, documents, and other materials relevant to the discussion of compliance with Sharia contracts. The results of the study indicate that KSPPS Artha Yasmin Az Zahra has implemented the Simko product in accordance with Sharia principles. The product is free from elements of riba, gharar, and maisir, and is in line with DSN-MUI fatwas regarding Wadiah and savings contracts. Nevertheless, challenges remain in its implementation, particularly regarding members’ understanding of the contract used. This is mainly due to the low level of Sharia literacy among members and the suboptimal socialization efforts from the KSPPS management.

Abstract

Digital transformation through Blockchain technology, artificial intelligence (AI), and electronic payment systems has had significant implications for Islamic economic law, both as a catalyst for efficiency and as an ethical challenge. This study aims to explore how adaptation to digital technology can be carried out in order to remain in line with sharia principles, particularly justice, transparency, and the avoidance of usury and gharar. Using library research and a descriptive-analytical approach, this study reviews the literature related to digitalization trends and their impact on sharia regulations. The results show that Blockchain strengthens Sharia compliance through smart contracts and audit transparency, AI supports halal investment screening while minimizing human bias, and electronic payment systems expand Sharia financial inclusion through instant transactions and automatic zakat compliance. However, ethical challenges such as data ownership, algorithm transparency, and user privacy have also emerged, requiring harmonization with the principles of tauhid, amanah, and ihsan. This study concludes that the integration of digital technology in sharia economic law not only strengthens efficiency and compliance but also requires normative regulation, collaboration between scholars and technology experts, and strict halal certification. As a result, digital transformation has the potential to strengthen the Islamic economy, enhance institutional reputation, and ensure the sustainable welfare of the people.

Abstract

Micro-enterprises play a strategic role in Indonesia's economy, particularly in rural areas, yet face challenges in implementing management principles aligned with the religious values of society. In the context of a Muslim-majority society, the integration of Islamic values through sharia management has become increasingly relevant, although its implementation at the micro-enterprise level remains sub-optimal. This study explores the implementation of Islamic management principles in micro-enterprises within Gunung Tanjung District, Tasikmalaya Regency. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews with eight micro-entrepreneurs, participatory observation, and documentation analysis over six months (January-June 2024). The research analyzed the implementation of five core principles: tauhid, amanah, adl, shura, and ihsan. Findings reveal diverse implementation patterns with three practitioner categories: Intuitive Implementers (62.5%), Conscious Adopters (25%), and Aspiring Learners (12.5%). While micro-entrepreneurs intuitively apply Islamic values, systematic implementation remains limited. Key challenges include limited managerial literacy (87.5% of respondents), inadequate institutional support, and lack of structured training programs. The research demonstrates that Islamic management principles can enhance business sustainability, customer trust, and community engagement. The study recommends developing practical Islamic management guidelines for micro-enterprises and establishing collaborative support systems that involve local government, Islamic financial institutions, and religious organizations.

Abstract

The global halal industry is experiencing rapid growth with a market value reaching 2.3 trillion US dollars, providing strategic opportunities for Indonesian halal MSMEs. However, the competitiveness of halal MSMEs still faces challenges in management, certification, and market access. This study aims to examine the implementation of sharia business management strategies to enhance the competitiveness of halal MSME products in Gunung Tanjung District, Tasikmalaya Regency. The research employs a qualitative approach with a case study method involving ten halal MSME entrepreneurs, five MSME supervisors from related agencies, and three local community leaders. Data collection was conducted through in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and documentation analysis during July-December 2024. Data analysis utilized Miles and Huberman's interactive model with a thematic analysis approach. The research findings reveal that the application of sharia business management principles including honesty in business transactions, fairness in profit distribution, social responsibility toward the environment, and exemplary leadership in business operations contributes significantly to strengthening consumer trust, improving operational efficiency, and ensuring long-term business sustainability. Local community support through religious study networks and collaborative business groups, along with institutional facilitation from local government and Islamic microfinance institutions, also plays a vital role in promoting and maintaining management practices aligned with Islamic principles. Research findings demonstrate that MSMEs consistently implementing sharia business management experienced up to 75% increase in customer loyalty, 40% expansion in market reach, and an average 30% improvement in profitability compared to the period before systematic implementation of sharia principles. This research has strategic implications for the necessity of continuous capacity building and integration of Islamic values into MSME entrepreneurship training programs to strengthen the local halal economic sector and contribute to national sharia economic development.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the increasing use of digital Islamic banking services, especially among the productive age group who demand convenience, speed, and security in transactions. However, the BYOND by BSI mobile banking application still faces a number of obstacles, such as transaction failures due to system disruptions or unstable connections, as well as user concerns about the security of personal data, including account information and transaction history. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of service and transaction security on the satisfaction of BYOND by BSI mobile banking users among the productive working age population in Purwakarta Regency. The research method used a descriptive quantitative approach with a population of the productive working age population in Purwakarta Regency. The sampling technique used convenience sampling with 43 respondents, while data analysis used validity, reliability, classical assumptions, multiple linear regression, t-test, F-test, correlation coefficient, and coefficient of determination (R²) tests. The results showed that the service variable had a positive and significant effect on user satisfaction, as evidenced by a t-value > t-table (6.517 > 2.021) and significance (0.000 < 0.05), with an R² value of 0.509. The transaction security variable also has a positive and significant effect on user satisfaction, with tcount > ttable (6.323 > 2.021), significance (0.000 < 0.05), and an R² value of 0.494. Simultaneously, service and transaction security affect user satisfaction with an Fcount > Ftable (21.856 > 3.23), significance (0.000 < 0.05), and a coefficient of determination R² of 0.522, which means that both variables contribute 52.2% to user satisfaction. The conclusion of this study confirms that service quality and transaction security are important factors in increasing BYOND by BSI mobile banking user satisfaction. The impact of this study is expected to provide strategic input for banks in improving digital service quality, strengthening security systems, and increasing customer trust and loyalty, especially among the productive age group.

Abstract

Panin Dubai Syariah Bank's performance for the 2020–2024 period shows complex dynamics in the management of Third Party Funds (DPK), capital (CAR), operational efficiency (BOPO), and profitability (ROA). Fluctuations in TFD over several years reflect changes in customer confidence and funding strategies, while the CAR ratio experienced pressure at the beginning of the period but improved until 2024. On the other hand, the BOPO ratio tended to increase, indicating challenges in operational efficiency, although it improved in 2021–2022. This study aims to analyze the effect of DPK, CAR, and BOPO on ROA both partially and simultaneously. The research method uses a descriptive quantitative approach with secondary data obtained through documentation studies from Panin Dubai Syariah Bank's official reports, OJK publications, and related academic literature. The results show that DPK has a significant effect on ROA (t-value of 2.213 > t-table 2.17881) with a contribution of 15.7%, supporting Komariah's findings. CAR does not have a significant effect on ROA (t-count of 0.823 < t-table 2.17881), in line with the view that a high capital ratio does not always reflect the efficiency of productive assets. Conversely, BOPO has a very significant effect on ROA (t-value > t-table of 34.153 > 2.17881) with a contribution of 99.8%, confirming that operational efficiency is a dominant factor in determining bank profitability. Simultaneously, the three variables have a significant effect on ROA (Fcount of 581.555 > Ftable 3.259) with a combined contribution of 99.3%, supporting Amanda Rachmawati's research. These findings emphasize the importance of managing operational efficiency and funding strategies in increasing the profitability of Islamic banks. The impact of this study has practical implications for Islamic banking management to strengthen fund raising strategies, maintain capital quality, and improve operational efficiency as a sustainable effort to strengthen the competitiveness and reputation of institutions in the Islamic financial industry.
