Abstract

Pain management uses pharmacological and non-pharmacological approaches, to reduce pain by treating accompanying symptoms. One of the non-pharmacological pain treatments is Benson relaxation therapy and dhikr. Benson relaxation therapy is a non-pharmacological strategy that combines relaxation techniques with the patient's belief system. It aims to reduce pain and encourage calmness by focusing on Allah SWT and releasing all emotions to the mother. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of Benson relaxation and dhikr on reducing the pain scale in mothers inpartu kala I active phase. The research method used is quantitative with a pre-experimental research design, with the type of research one group pre-post test. The research location was at the Yosi Trihana Independent Practice Midwife, Klaten Regency, Central Java. They were carried out in November 2023 to January 2024. The population used was all active mothers inpartu active phase I. The sampling technique was total sampling, so the research sample was 30 respondents. The research instrument used the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) pain scale. Data analysis was performed using the Wilcoxon test, which was processed using SPSS software version 20.0. The results showed a significant relationship with a p-value = (0.000). There is a decrease in the intensity of pain experienced during the labour process in Yosi Trihana's Independent Midwife Practice. These findings indicate that benzene relaxation and dhikr significantly impact reducing pain levels during labour. It is recommended that nurses and other health workers use dhikr relaxation as a non-pharmacological technique to reduce pain during labour.  Keywords:  Benson Relaxation, Dhikr, Pain Intensity Scal

Abstract

First-time mothers may find childbirth difficult; they frequently feel intense anxiety, stress, and terror as the due date draws near, particularly in the third trimester of pregnancy when there is a higher chance of an early birth. The aim of the research was to ascertain the impact of Murottal therapy and husband support on the anxiety levels of expectant mothers during labor at Badrul Aini Mother and Child Hospital. This study uses a cross-sectional research approach and is quantitatively analytical. In August 2023, the study was carried out at the Badrul Ain Mother and Child Hospital. All of the pregnant patients in this study came to the Badrul Aini Mother and Child Hospital to give birth. The sampling technique was random, so the research sample was obtained from as many as 50 pregnant women. Data collection techniques in this study used questionnaires and observation techniques. Data analysis used correlation and multiple linear regression tests with SPSS software processing. The results showed that husband support (p-value = 0.006) and murrotal therapy significantly reduced the anxiety level of pregnant women (p-value = 0.001). However, the hypothesis that Murrotal therapy moderates the effect of husband support on anxiety levels was not supported. The importance of the husband's role in providing emotional and psychological support during labor and confirming the effectiveness of Murrotal therapy in managing maternal anxiety. Healthcare providers should consider involving husbands in prenatal care and labour, and Murrotal therapy can be a valuable tool in managing pregnant women's anxiety.  Keywords:  Childbirth, Husband's Support, Murrotal, Therapy, Pregnant mother's anxiety

Abstract

This study aims to make and evaluate the lotion formula from ethanol extract of star fruit leaves (Averrhoa bilimbi L.) and test the antioxidant activity of the lotion. The research method used is experimental, making lotions and testing antioxidant activity from July to October 2023 at the Semi-Solid Preparation Technology Laboratory, Department of Pharmacy, Poltekkes Kemenkes Medan, and Research Laboratory, University of North Sumatra. In the preparation stage, star fruit leaf simplisia was extracted by maceration using a 95% ethanol solvent. The lotion formula was made with ingredients such as PEG 4000, stearyl alcohol, glycerin, sodium lauryl sulfate, coconut oil, nipagin, and distillate water, with varying concentrations of ethanol extract of star fruit leaves. The formulation was evaluated through organoleptic, homogeneity, pH, spreadability, and viscosity tests. The results showed that the lotion produced had a homogeneous shape and aroma to the concentration of ethanol extract. In addition, the pH of the lotion is also within the safe range for human skin. The spreadability test showed the lotion's ability to spread on the skin, which met the requirements for lotions with spreadability values between 5 and 7 cm. The viscosity of the lotion was also by the set standards. Stability tests were conducted to monitor the physical and chemical changes of the lotion over four weeks. The results showed that lotions with 1% and 3% ethanol extract concentrations were stable during the study period. However, the 5% concentration experienced inhomogeneity changes in the third week. In conclusion, lotion with ethanol extract of star fruit leaves at 1% and 3% concentration can produce a good and stable formula. However, the antioxidant activity of the lotion is still in the weak to moderate category. This research contributes to developing plant-based natural cosmetic products for skin care. Keywords:  Antioxidant Activity, Belimbing Wuluh, Ethanol Extract, Evaluation, Lotion
