Abstract

Computer-based media has been widely known and used as learning media in the classroom, it has proven effective in supporting teachers in conveying learning. One of them is PowerPoint media which is created according to the creativity and needs of the teacher. However, the lack of motivation in the classroom can make students less interested in understanding learning objectives. This can be seen from the lack of enthusiasm of students in learning English so that they are weak in these subjects, especially in writing skills. This project aims to develop an Interactive PPT to facilitate students' continuous learning and train students' activeness, especially in writing skills in class, so that learning English can take place optimally. This study uses the Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE model which is a development of the Dick and Carrey model. In collecting data in research, researchers used questionnaires when observing students, structured interviews with subject teachers, validation questionnaires, and also student response questionnaires. Keywords:  English Language Teaching; Interactive PPT; Learning Media; Writing Skill

Abstract

The advancement of information and communication technology has been greeted favorably by various elements in Indonesian education, including Pesantren with the aim of instilling the concept of digital literacy for students. This study uses a systematic review, namely the research process by identifying previous research with systematic analysis methods by identifying literature in the form of journal articles obtained from Google Scholar. This method has been used to provide in-depth research and perform basic analysis, assess and synthesize complex thoughts to draw conclusions from the results of analysis of literature data, and answer problems efficiently, clearly, and relevantly. From the results of a review of several journal articles, it can be seen that most of the modern pesantren-based Islamic boarding schools have received fairly good digital literacy education. Digital support and facilities have also been provided. However, they also have problems with timing, individual digital skills, and an unstable curriculum. Regarding the review of the English learning process, the provision of digital training for students needs to be improved. Even though there are many challenges, students must be ready to implement them, so they are not left behind by increasingly sophisticated technological advances. Keywords:  EFL; Digital Literacy; Pesantren

Abstract

This study examines the application of a bilingual video blog (VlOG) with content on the process of forming English words in Morphology lectures. Morphology is one of the courses taught in English Literature study program at UMN Al Washliyah, where in the Morphology course students learn about the process of forming words in English. This course is considered difficult by some students because many of the theories taught are related to the process of word formation. During the industrial revolution 4.0 and also during the new normal for the Covid-19 pandemic, it is hoped that the learning process will have several alternatives in its implementation both online and offline. In the lecture process, especially Morphology lectures, learning media is one of the elements that can increase student motivation in learning. Lecturers must be able to utilize technology as an online learning medium so that it does not cause boredom for learning activity. Media applied in Morphology lectures was a bilingual video blog (VLOG) based on the content of the process of forming words in English. A video blog is a blog where there is content in the form of videos in it and will later be uploaded via the social media channel site Youtube. Bilingual video blogs are important for learning courses because they integrate audio-visual in their application so that the material or theory taught by lecturers will be more easily accepted by students both in online and offline lectures. This research is quasi-experimental. Keywords:  Vlog; Word Formation; Morphology
