Abstract

The purpose of this study was to show whether students' critical thinking skills through solving triangle and square problems are influenced by their prior knowledge. Twenty-five seventh grade students from Madrasah Tsanawiyah At-Taminiyah Sui Kupah participated in this study. The research method used in this study was quantitative. Instruments in the form of multiple choice questions that tested prior knowledge and essay questions that tested critical thinking were used to collect data. The data analysis technique in this research is quantitative data analysis in the form of normality test, linearity test, homogeneity test, and hypothesis testing using simple linear regression test. The findings of this study show that the extent to which students' prior knowledge affects their critical thinking ability varies widely. The calculated Sig value of 37.080 and R-squared value of 61.7% provide strong support for this. The findings show that students with strong background knowledge also have strong critical thinking skills, while students with less background knowledge also have poorer critical thinking skills.

Abstract

This study aims to determine and describe the creative thinking process skills of SMP Negeri 2 Sungai Ambawang students in solving contextual problems related to the topic of ratios based on Wallas' theory. The research method used is descriptive method with a qualitative approach. The research instruments used were creative thinking tests and interview guidelines. The data sources used were the answers to students' creative thinking tests and the results of interviews with students by researchers. This study reveals about students' creative thinking processes with three criteria for thinking levels, namely students with high, medium and low abilities. Of the 22 students, 23% were at a high creative thinking level, 32% were at a moderate creative thinking level and 45% were at a low creative thinking level. Students who are at a high level of creative thinking are able to go through all stages of creative thinking based on Wallas, at an intermediate level they are able to go through the Wallas creative thinking stage but are constrained in verification and do not find more than one way of solving it, while students at a low level do not go through the preparation stage and verification but find creative ways to solve problems.

Abstract

This study is a descriptive qualitative research for the purpose of analyzing errors and explaining the types of mistakes made by students when solving problems based on the text format provided. This research was conducted at a tertiary institution in Cianjur, with 10 research subjects in class VII B in the odd semester of the 2022/2023 academic year at SMP Negeri 5 Pasirkuda. The data collection method in this study was in the form of a written test. Based on the data presentation, the student error rate is 1) conceptual error, namely 66.9% with a "high" error percentage; 2) 10% procedural errors with a percentage of "very low" error categories; 3) 22.1% technical failure with a "low" failure percentage rate. Therefore, we can conclude that the conceptual understanding of student set material is relatively low. Therefore, the teacher should pay attention to students' conceptual understanding of the overall concept of the material and show students the important parts of the whole concept.

Abstract

This research aims to develop LKPD using a discovery learning model assisted by Quizizz that is feasible and practical. The method used in this research is the Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE model which consists of five stages, namely analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. This research was carried out at SMP Negeri 3 Ngamprah, with the research subjects being 30 class VIII students. Data collection techniques use expert validation questionnaires and student response questionnaires. Data processing was carried out using Microsoft Excel. The research results show that the LKPD development process is by the ADDIE stages, the feasibility of LKPD using a model using the discovery learning model assisted by Quizizz according to experts and practitioners is in the very valid category and terms of practicality it is in the practical category.

Abstract

This study aims to find out how effective the use of contextual approaches is to improve students' critical thinking abilities in the transition period as the study intends to detail and conclude the technology that is currently being used as well as the benefits and limitations it has. The SLR stage is grouping data, analyzing and summarizing the data that has been obtained. To develop students’ critical thinking skills, contextual learning is applied that emphasizes the ability to think at a higher level, linking it to everyday life so that students can transfer that knowledge through scientific disciplines, then collect, analyze, and conclude data obtained from some different information and points of view. The research results obtained are as follows: (1) The use of contextual approaches to learning is very effective in improving students’ critical abilities, (2) characteristics of contextual approaches are very effectively used to improve students’ critical thinking abilities, (3) students are not only fixated on one source but many sources can be obtained by students, thus training students’ critical thinking skills.

Abstract

This study aims to find out the contribution of mathematical concepts to lodok rice fields (ricefield spider net) in Manggarai Regency. The main instrument is the researcher himself, and the supporting instruments are observation and interview guidelines. Data was collected by means of field observations and interviews with manggarai traditional leaders, where the selection of traditional leaders used a purposive sampling technique. To obtain valid and reliable data, the researchers used technique triangulation and source triangulation. Data analysis used is reducing data, presenting data, and drawing conclusions or verification. The results of the study found that the shape of lodok rice fields in Manggarai Regency was made by applying the concept of ''Circle Center Point'' at the meeting point (node point) of the land of all residents, which is referred to as Lodok and the concept of  ''Juring Circle'' on the shape and size of the land area of each resident as well as a barrier to land ownership rights between one resident and another, known as Langang or Lance.

Abstract

Budaya merupakan bagian dari kehidupan masyarakat. Secara alamiah konsep matematika menjadi bagian dari budaya masyarakat tertentu. Matematika budaya ini disebut etnomatematika. Penggunaan etnomatematika dalam pembelajaran diharapkan mampu memberikan kontribusi pengembangan pembelajaran. Sehingga tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk memberikan gambaran dan mengeksplorasi batik probolinggo yang memuat konsep-konsep matematika serta bagaimana penggunaannya dalam proses pembelajaran. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif etnografi. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah peneliti itu sendiri. Sedangkan teknik analisis data yang digunakan yaitu mereduksi data, menganalisis data, dan memaparkan hasil analisis. Hasil yang diperoleh yaitu konsep-konsep matematika yang ditemukan dalam batik khas Probolinggo seperti belah ketupat, persegi panjang, titik, sudut, garis sejajar, prisma, lingkaran, segitiga, konsep translasi, refleksi dan rotasi. Konsep-konsep matematika yang ditemukan pada batik Probolinggo tersebut selain dapat memotivasi dalam proses pembelajaran juga dapat digunakan sebagai sumber rujukan.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the extent to which students solve problems in mathematical understanding skills in statistics material. The method in this study is descriptive qualitative and data collection is given 3-point statistics questions in the form of descriptions. The research subjects were class VIII which amounted to 6 people. The results of the researcher's analysis show that mathematical understanding ability is still low in statistics material. Some of the difficulties experienced by students are that students still have difficulty reading the questions given, students' ability to understand the problem is still lacking, students' difficulty in writing the formula given, students' lack of accuracy in prerequisite material, students answer questions carelessly, so students do not solve the problem correctly. Difficulties in this study can be caused by students not paying attention to the teacher's explanation and even still lacking accuracy in understanding the problem, reading questions in the form of description questions, the way students think about mathematics comprehension skills is still difficult. Therefore, it is necessary to have an improvement and follow-up in future research to improve students' mathematical understanding ability in statistics material or better yet, it can replace other materials.

Abstract

This research was motivated by junior high school students lack of interest in learning mathematics subjetcs, so their mathematical understanding abilities tend to be low. The aim of this research was to find out how much influence the use of statistical material learning media using a Scratch-assisted scientific approach has on the mathematical understanding abilities of junior high school students. The subjects in this research were 26 class VIII students at SMP Negeri 15 Cimahi who were selected using a purposive sampling technique. In this research, the method used was an experimental method with a one group pretest-posttest design. Meanwhile, the data analysis technique used is quantitative descriptive which is then processed using Microsoft Excel 2013. After the test was carried out, there was an increase in the students average score. Before reciving treatment, the average learning outcome was 46,15, after reciving treatment, the average increased to 86,15. Apart from that, the number of students whose scores reached the KKM also increased. This proves that the use of Scratch-assisted learning media in statistics material has a great influence on junior high school students mathematical understanding abilities.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to examine the effect of using Liveworksheets-based teaching materials in improving mathematical problem solving abilities in statistics material for class VIII junior high school students. The research method used is descriptive qualitative method. The research subjects for this study were class VIII students at SMPN 15 Cimahi consisting of 25 students. The results of this research show that the use of Liveworksheets based teaching materials can improve mathematical problem solving abilities, as evidenced by the average increase in students' mathematical problem solving ability tests before the use of the teaching materials demonstrated, which is equal to 27.20 and after use, teaching materials equivalent to 70.00. Not only that, this study influences students' mathematical problem solving abilities, seen from the results of the t-sample test calculation related to the paired-sample T-test analysis of the two-sided test. The values ​​obtained are tcount = 13,833 and ttable = 1.7109 for a significance level of 5% with df = 24, where 13.833 ≥ 1.7109.
