Abstract

This paper aims to analyze the impact of agrarian conflicts on the political trust of peasants who are victims of agrarian conflict in North Sumatra. The study utilizes political trust theory and agrarian conflict as analytical tools with a qualitative approach. Political trust serves as the foundation of the relationship between society and the state, shaped by the government's performance in policy or conflict resolution, such as agrarian conflicts. Agrarian conflicts typically manifest through actions like land grabbing, the unilateral takeover of land by companies, the exploitation of natural resources for economic gain, leading to the displacement of traditional peasants, and violations of peasants' rights, such as criminalization or distancing peasants from agrarian sources. The research results indicate that agrarian conflicts have influenced the political trust of peasants due to the lack of clarity in enforcing agrarian conflict resolution rules, the unfair distribution of resources, and the unequal opportunity for peasants to access justice.

Abstract

The advancement of technology has reduced distance and time constraints, leading to the intercultural marriages experienced by Indonesian women. This research aims to analyze the socio-cultural adjustment of mixed-marriage women from the Anxiety Uncertainty Management (AUM) perspective. Referring to AUM theory, the presence of uncertainty and anxiety serves a significant role in maintaining the focus of mixed-marriage women residing in foreign countries, particularly during cross-cultural interactions. This research utilizes a qualitative content analysis method with the assistance of NVivo 14 Plus to code the distribution of adjustment factors within the YouTube content. The selection of research samples was based on the diversity of husbands' origins, current country of residence, length of marriage, and the depth of women's engagement in sharing personal stories in their content, resulting in the selection of six account owners. The categorization of adjustment factors that emerged in the YouTube video content includes stages of uncertainty management, anxiety management, self-awareness, and effective communication. The results of this research indicate that all women go through the four stages of the AUM model in diverse forms. An additional finding in this study is that support systems play a significant role in assisting women to navigate during the adjustment phases.

Abstract

This research explores the synergy of sustainable marine tourism development in realizing the 2024 maritime vision on Nusa Penida Island, Klungkung, Bali, as well as the factors that affect it. The method used is a literature study with qualitative descriptive analysis. The results show that the synergy is achieved through communication and coordination of Indonesia's maritime vision with the implementation of optimization of marine tourism development under the Indonesian Marine Policy Action Plan 2021-2025 and Presidential Regulation Number 34 of 2022. Tourism in Bali has an economic impact on local communities, but its distribution needs to be more evenly distributed. Social, economic, and cultural tourism provides opportunities to utilize local potential with the participation of policy stakeholders. The tourism sector encourages the development of infrastructure and educational institutions, increasing human resources in the field of tourism. Factors influencing the synergy of marine tourism development include Indonesia's maritime history and politics, maritime biological and non-biological resources, socio-cultural factors, and maritime industry and economy. Recommendations include improving the marine ecotourism product program, multi-stakeholder involvement in planning, and the establishment of a special department in the Ministry of Tourism to focus on developing sustainable marine tourism to realize the 2024 maritime vision.

Abstract

An independent defense capability is an aspiration and a crucial need for nations. Achieving this will ensure the state’s independence from the possible influence of weapon-producing states. To attain this goal, countries worldwide, including those in the ASEAN region, have endeavored to advance their weapon technologies through national defense industries. The ASEAN Defense Industrial Collaboration (ADIC), established in 2011, was conceived to emulate the success of European consortiums in producing diverse weapon technologies. Regrettably, after 11 years, ADIC has not produced or initiated the development of any weapon technology. The analysis in this article is conducted by synthesizing the perspectives of four key prerequisites for the success of defense industry cooperation: constructivist, institutionalist, liberal, and realist. The research method employed in this article is Causal Process Tracing (CPT), specifically aimed at identifying the prerequisites that lead to specific events. This article concludes that the failure of ADIC is attributed to five factors. Firstly, diverse economic systems among ADIC members create challenges. Secondly, equivalent defense industry capacities lead to competition and hinder collaboration. Thirdly, low spill-over effects from successful cooperation in other sectors impede progress. Fourthly, persistent distrust among ADIC member countries poses a barrier. Lastly, the absence of a defense alliance results in a strong consideration of relative gains. In essence, these factors underscore the complexity and challenges in achieving effective international defense collaboration.
