Abstract

Globalization impacts learning, yet modern education often overemphasizes cognitive intelligence, neglecting other dimensions and risking a generational moral crisis. This highlights the need for comprehensive intelligence frameworks. This study developed and validated a Quran-based prophetic intelligence instrument based on Abdul Aziem’s framework, comprising six dimensions: spiritual, emotional, intellectual, adversity, physical, and naturalistic intelligence. Data from 437 respondents (aged 20–60) were collected via purposive sampling. The development involved literature reviews, expert judgments (psychologists and Islamic scholars), and psychometric evaluation using Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA). Results indicated composite reliability ranging from 0.71 to 0.86, with the higher-order construct showing excellent reliability (CR = 0.99). The model achieved acceptable fit (RMSEA = 0.081; TLI = 0.99; CFI = 0.99; SRMR = 0.03). Ultimately, 35 of the 52 initial items were retained. The findings confirm that the instrument is a valid and reliable measure of prophetic intelligence.

Abstract

Denpasar has emerged as a major locus of divorce in Bali, posing significant psychological, social, and spiritual challenges for women. This qualitative case study examined how Tri Hita Karana supports resilience among divorced Balinese Hindu women. Using purposive sampling, nine participants were recruited: three divorced Balinese Hindu women with children and employment, and six significant others (one child and one close friend for each woman). Data were collected through semi-structured, in-depth interviews and analyzed using reflexive thematic analysis. The findings show that Tri Hita Karana strengthens resilience through harmony with God (Parahyangan), fellow humans (Pawongan), and nature (Palemahan) by fostering self-acceptance, supportive relationships, autonomy, and a renewed sense of purpose. These values were reflected in gratitude, emotional recovery, and personal growth following divorce. The study underscores the cultural relevance of Tri Hita Karana as a local framework for women’s psychosocial adaptation after marital dissolution.

Abstract

Religious leaders often hold revered positions and shape moral norms within their communities. However, obedience to such figures may become problematic when followers fail to question unethical behavior or the misuse of authority. This study investigates how dimensions of right-wing authoritarianism (submission, aggression, and conventionalism) and mechanisms of moral disengagement relate to perilous obedience toward religious authority. Drawing on data from 243 Indonesian participants across majority and minority religious groups, hierarchical regression analyses showed that authoritarian submission and moral disengagement - particularly advantageous comparison - were the strongest predictors of perilous obedience. Although authoritarian aggression initially predicted the outcome, its effect diminished once moral disengagement was entered into the model. Conventionalism, despite its theoretical importance, did not significantly predict obedience in this context. These findings highlight psychological factors associated with followers’ willingness to tolerate or justify the misuse of authority in religious settings.

Abstract

Everyone craves welfare, including Islamic boarding school (pesantren) teachers. In psychology, well-being relates to the subjective evaluation of feelings and life. This study aims to examine the influence of self-compassion and social support on the subjective well-being of pesantren teachers, with obedience to kiai as a moderator. Using purposive sampling, data were collected from 227 teachers across 11 Asshiddiqiyah pesantren branches. Measurements included adaptations of the Self-Compassion Scale Short Form (SCS-SF), Social Provisions Scale, Obedience to Authority Scale, and Scale of Positive and Negative Experience (SPANE). Data were analyzed using multiple regression analysis (MRA) with moderators via SPSS. Results showed a significant positive influence of self-compassion and social support on subjective well-being, which was moderated by obedience to kiai. These findings have implications for understanding how pesantren teachers fulfill their subjective well-being by paying attention to their level of compliance with the kiai.
