Abstract

Every Special School (SLB) requires appropriate assessments that are appropriate to the conditions of the students so that educational goals for children with special needs can be achieved. Assessments are needed to classify students according to their problems, so that they can be used as material for consideration in designing learning programs. Students at Special Schools (SLB) who have not implemented appropriate assessments receive programs or services in their learning that do not meet the student's needs. Initial research conducted at Special Schools in Kab. Tanah Datar found that there was no standard assessment used by the school in classifying students and creating learning programs for students with special needs. Determination of students at school based on age grouping. This research aims to develop a pocket book to assist SLB teachers in carrying out initial assessments of students with special needs. The method used in this research is Research and Development (RAD) with the ADDIE model which consists of five stages, namely analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The research produced an instrument in the form of a pocket book based on a behavior checklist which can detect students who have special needs by taking 3 classifications of Children with Special Needs, namely ADHD, Autism and Mentally Impaired. The results of this research show that pocket books can be understood and used by teachers to help teachers carry out initial assessments of students and group students in special schools in Tanah Datar Regency.

Abstract

As individuals enter adulthood, they may experience social pressures that lead to anxiety. If an individual experiences anxiety, it is likely to result in various negative impacts on their social life. In this case, it is important for individuals to instill more positive thinking through husn al-zhann (positive assumption). This study aims to identify the correlation between husn al-zhann and social anxiety among 122 emerging adults (n = 122). The results show that husn al-zhann is negatively correlated with social fear/anxiety. Aspects of husn al-zhann, such as the absence of hasad (envy) and feeling God's compassion, are also negatively correlated with social fear/anxiety. Looking at the aspects of social interaction and performance situations, social interaction situations were found to have a negative correlation with feeling God's compassion, the absence of hasad, and the attitude of husn al-zhann. Meanwhile, performance-related situations showed a negative correlation with feeling God's compassion and the absence of hasad. This study has limitations in terms of sample size. Therefore, future research is expected to investigate the relationship between these variables with a larger and more varied sample size, as well as a more complex relationship model.

Abstract

Satisfaction with life is part of the cognitive process that can be negatively affected by perceptions of everyday events, which is known as daily hassles. A sense of gratitude is always appreciating, recognizing, and responding to life events that are determinants of mental health and well-being, and have been shown to increase satisfaction with life. The purpose of this study is to investigate the moderating role of gratitude in the relationship between daily hassles and satisfaction with life. The study used a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design and involved 169 undergraduate students as respondents. The selected respondents will fill out three research scales, namely the lives daily hassles scale (LIVES-DHS) 18 items, the gratitude questionnaire – five item form (GQ-5), and the satisfaction with life scale (SWLS) 5 items. Moderated regression analysis was conducted to test the role of gratitude as a moderator using R programming language (v4.4.0) and RStudio (v2024.04.1-748). Our results show that gratitude acts as a moderator in the relationship between daily hassles and satisfaction with life. This study contributes as a reference material in implementing gratitude interventions to increase satisfaction with life in dealing with daily hassles

Abstract

Teams that work to respond to disaster situations or other safety threats are faced with high risks that can affect other people and themselves. The Gegana Troop is a form of team that works to handle crisis situations. This unit, which is under the command of the Brimob Unit at POLRI Headquarters, has the main function of taking action against high-level and high-intensity social security and order disturbances, especially organized crime that uses firearms and/or explosives. These officers face huge consequences if mistakes occur in the tasks they carry out. This situation certainly has a huge psychological impact on the officers. This research aims to reveal the psychological dynamics of individuals who work in extreme situations with very high uncertainty through qualitative methods with a phenomenological approach. There are three main findings, namely forms of uncertainty, the psychological impact of uncertainty, and efforts to deal with uncertainty. The findings from this research can be used as study material for policy makers to be able to carry out the necessary series of prevention or interventions, not only to optimize their tasks in the field, but also to overcome potential problems that could arise from these tasks.

Abstract

This study aims to comprehensively analyze the overview of research trends among Islamic Psychology students of UIN Raden Mas Said Surakarta for the 2021–2023 period based on research types, areas of psychological interest, and research topics, and to use these trends as considerations in developing the study program’s research roadmap for 2025–2034. This study employs a mixed-method approach. Quantitative data were obtained from students’ final project documents (theses) submitted to the Library of the Faculty of Ushuluddin and Da’wah during 2021–2023. Qualitative data were collected from students and lecturers selected through stratified purposeful sampling. The results show that the qualitative approach is the most dominant. In terms of research interest, social studies are the most preferred field, while resilience is the most frequently researched topic. These findings serve as a basis for developing the research roadmap for 2025–2034, which emphasizes the leading theme of Islamic Psychology, Mental Health, and Well-being. It is recommended that future research should focus more on strengthening the substantive core of Islamic psychology, particularly in terms of variables and research themes grounded in Islamic psychological perspectives, rather than merely focusing on research objects. In addition, integrating quantitative approaches across various branches of psychology is encouraged to provide a more comprehensive and holistic understanding.

Abstract

Abstract This study investigates the role of media framing in shaping moral emotions and boycott intentions in the context of the Israel–Palestine conflict, as well as the moderating role of individuals’ moral foundations. Using a between-subjects experimental design, the study compares the effects of episodic and thematic framing on anger toward Israel, empathy toward Palestine, and boycott intention, with Moral Foundations Theory serving as the moderating framework. A total of 557 participants were randomly assigned to framing conditions, and the data were analyzed using linear regression techniques. The findings indicate that framing does not produce consistent main effects on anger, empathy, or boycott intention. Instead, selective interaction patterns emerge between framing and moral foundations. Specifically, the interaction between framing and moral individualizing is significant for empathy, such that differences between episodic and thematic framing are primarily observed among individuals with lower levels of moral individualizing. In contrast, the interaction between framing and moral binding emerges for anger toward Israel, suggesting that moral anger is more closely associated with group-based normative orientations. No effects of framing or its interactions are observed for boycott intention. Religious affiliation emerges as the most consistent predictor across all dependent variables. Overall, these findings demonstrate that framing effects are conditional rather than universal and depend on the alignment between framing type, individuals’ moral foundations, and the specific moral emotions involved.

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to determine the similarities and differences of self-love in the perspective of Islamic psychology and Western psychology as well as its synthesis and application in a modern context. The method used is PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Analyzes). The sources of literature used are Scopus, Mendeley, and Garuda. The limitations of the reviewed journals are research using Indonesian and English, spanning the years 2020-2025, and research in the form of articles with the keywords "self-love", "self-love", "Islamic Psychology", "Islamic perspective", "Quranic view", "Islamic psychology", "Islamic perspective", "Quranic view", "Western Psychology", "Psychology", "western psychology", and "Psychology". Based on the results of the review, eight articles were found that were in accordance with the research objectives. The results of the study found that self-love is a multidimensional concept that is adapted according to cultural values and religiosity in society. In the perspective of Islamic psychology, self-love is part of worship and has spiritual value. While in the perspective of Western psychology, self-love is focused on the psychological and social well-being of individuals. The synthesis of both shows that the concept of complete self-love should include personal, social, and spiritual dimensions to make individuals healthy rationally and spiritually.

Abstract

Abstract

First-year students in Islamic boarding schools experience a demanding adaptation period, involving adjustment to a new environment, strict rules, structured routines, and a digital-free policy. These conditions often impact students' self-efficacy, which plays a crucial role in academic, social, and emotional adjustment. This study aims to explore first-year students' lived experiences in developing self-efficacy during the adaptation process in a digital-free Islamic boarding school environment. This study employed a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. Five first-year students were selected through purposive sampling and interviewed in-depth using a semi-structured interview guide. Data were analyzed using Miles and Huberman's interactive model, including data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Data validity was strengthened through member checking and researcher reflection to minimize bias. The findings revealed three main themes: (1) dynamics of adaptation and emotional regulation, highlighting how students cope with stress, homesickness, and strict routines through religious adjustment; (2) academic experiences and self-efficacy formation, demonstrating that mastery experiences, teacher feedback, and motivation rooted in religious values strengthen students' self-confidence; and (3) social support and identity development, describing the role of peers, mentors, and religious teachers in fostering a stable personal and religious identity that strengthens self-efficacy. This study concludes that the development of self-efficacy among first-year students attending Islamic boarding schools is shaped by the interaction of emotional, academic, social, and spiritual factors within a structured, digital-free environment. These findings provide insights for developing holistic mentoring strategies to support student adaptation and self-efficacy.

Abstract

Student demonstrations in Indonesia are often marked by impulsive behaviors that may escalate into aggressive actions. Self-control plays an important regulatory role in helping individuals manage emotions, impulses, and responses in high-pressure collective settings such as protests. This study examines the effectiveness of Points of You–based coaching in enhancing self-control among university students involved in demonstrations in Makassar. An experimental one-group pretest–posttest design was employed, with self-control assessed using the Brief Self-Control Scale (BSCS) and the Self-Control and Self-Management Scale (SCMS). Data analysis was conducted using R version 4.5.0 in combination with Positron and JASP version 0.95.4.0. Bayesian paired-sample t-tests and Bayesian Linear Regression with a Dichotomous Predictor were used to evaluate changes following the intervention. The results indicate that Points of You coaching effectively improves participants’ self-control, as reflected in increased postintervention scores across both measurement instruments. The practical implications highlight that visual–narrative coaching approaches can serve as a relevant psychological intervention to help students regulate impulsive tendencies during demonstrations, while also supporting educational institutions in promoting more constructive, reflective, and self-regulated forms of collective action.
