Abstract

This study aims to explore the nature of happiness according to Montfort and its relevance in the context of the Indonesian Catholic Church. Happiness is often identified with living in comfort, being spared of pain and difficulties in life, and as the satisfaction that is enjoyed after the desires and ideals have been achieved. This general paradigm needs to be examined more deeply by using the scalpel of the nature of happiness according to Montfort. This study uses the library research method. This study has found that the essence of happiness according to Montfort is not something that one wishes to be achieved (abstract), but an attitude of responsibility to live life here and now in union with Christ. The relevance of Montfort's teachings in the context of the way in which the Indonesian Catholic Church might live religion can be seen in three important attitudes. First, experiencing happiness by loving the crosses of daily life. Second, achieving union with Christ by siding with the poor. Third, experiencing happiness in the midst of religious plurality in Indonesia.

Abstract

The Devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus is a spiritual treasure of the Church that can help the growth of people's faith and for the implementation of the work of proclaiming the Gospel for all nations. Arnold Janssen who has an extraordinary missionary spirit introduced the devotion of the Sacred Heart of Jesus to the world. His devotion is not just an adoption from his predecessors but also carries a distinctive spirit, missionary spirit, and openness. In the spirit of the Second Vatican Council, it is called an aggiornamento. This article aims to explore the spirit of renewal and the spirit of missionary work. The method used by the author in this search is a literature study. Through this analysis, the writer finds that the spirit of “aggiornamento” is also present in the devotion of the Sacred Heart according to Arnold Janssen. The contribution from the spirit of spiritual life and motivation introduced by Arnold through the devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus is very useful for the preaching and pastoral work of the Church. This devotion introduced by Arnold can also be one of the relevant means of preaching and pastoral of the Church.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the influence of the parish spiritual life toward students' interest in studying the Bible. This study used a quantitative approach. The research sample consisted of 332 high school students, both private and public, in the city of Ruteng, Manggarai Regency, which were taken using a proportional random technique. The data collection instrument used a closed questionnaire. The data analysis technique used Pearson Product Moment Correlation with SPSS version 23.0. The results of the data analysis showed that there was a correlation between parish spiritual life and an interest in studying the scriptures (r = 0.605). As a result, the parish spiritual life contributes 36.4% to the interest in studying the scriptures. Since the regression of biblical interest in parish spiritual life is linear, this relationship is predictable. So, more involvement in spiritual life in the parish means that students will be more interested in studying the scriptures if they spend more time there.

Abstract

This article wants to discuss the social teaching of Pope John Paul II regarding the conflict between work and capital in his encyclical Laborem Exercens. Karl Marx (1818-1883) holds that in an capitalistic industrial world, work is represented by the worker class as work force, while capital is represented by the entrepeneurs, owners or holders of the means of production. In Laborem Exercens art. 11-15, the Pope mentions this issue of the relationship of work and capital from the perspective of Christian personalism, proposing the principle of the priority of work over capital as the basis for regulating work in general and industry in particular. From this study, it is hoped that several consequences can be drawn for studies and efforts about work that are based on a personalistic vision of man

Abstract

Today, Catholic schools are called to serve and educate human beings to become integral persons, and to achieve their fulfillment in Christ. Therefore, the servant leadership model should be applied to the leadership of Catholic schools. The reason is that servant leadership is a leadership model taught by Jesus Himself. This paper uses the theory of servant leadership according to Robert K. Greenleaf. The problems: Do the leaders of Catholic schools understand the concept of servant leadership? How is the model of servant leadership applied in Catholic schools? This study aims to answer this problem. This study uses a qualitative research method with the interview method. The results showed that all the leaders of Catholic schools understood the basic concept of servant leadership. The servant leadership model has been well applied in various activities, policies, programs, and attitudes displayed by the leaders of Catholic schools. The implementation is based on ten characteristics of servant leadership.

Abstract

The essence of spirituality in the professional appreciation of Catholic religious teachers as the basis for a complete life renewal. Gravissimum Educationis is the truth of the theory used in this research. The research method uses a qualitative approach, namely literature study. This study aims to find new concepts and theories about the spirituality of Catholic religious teachers. Spirituality is awareness and belief in faith which is the basis of encouragement in life renewal. Self-awareness as a Catholic religion teacher is lived in faith, that his calling in life is a call that comes from Jesus Christ himself. Spirituality needs to be realized in living up to the life vocation of a Catholic religious teacher as a professional. A professional Catholic religious teacher means having a deep spirituality. Deep spirituality makes Catholic religious teachers more leverage in optimizing their competencies, namely competence as professional educators and at the same time as preachers of the Word of God. Catholic religious teachers who have deep spirituality are able to present the whole, both in their duties and in daily life.

Abstract

The celebration of the Eucharist is an expression of gratitude for God’s saving work that was accomplished through Jesus Christ. Through the events of the passion, death, and resurrection of Christ became the culmination and goal of from the Eucharist. That is the why Eucharist is the source and pinnacle of the life of the Church. Because in the celebration of the Eucharist there is a mutually reinforcing relationship between the faithfull. In the celebration of the Eucharist people are required to be able to interpret the celebration of the Eucharist as a means to develop their faith towards maturity. However there is a fact that no a few people are less able to interpret the Eucharist as a saving sacrifice of the so that people continue to be passive because of the lack of enthusiansm and encouragement from those closest to them. The aims of the research are (1) to describe the menaing of the Eucharist (2) to describe the development of faith (3) to describe the impact of the celebration of the Eucharist on the development of the faith of the people in the St. Gregory.

Abstract

Marriage preparation course program is a preparatory stage for Catholic married couples in preparing themselves for the sacramental marriage. However, the phenomenon that occurred at the St. Lukas Teluk Batu Parish of Kanak-Kanak Yesus Marau nowadays many married couples are married in a traditional way before attending the Marriage Preparation Course and getting married in a sacramental manner. This is the author's concern, which raises several questions, namely what are the views of Catholic couples about the benefits of Marriage preparation course Program. The results of the study show that showed that Marriage preparation course Program give beneficial for their married life. The benefits that respondents often feel are that it helps them communicate in the family, helps in educating their children in a Catholic way, and they know the nature of Catholic marriage. In addition, this husband and wife generally have a traditional marriage before the sacrament marriage. The reason for this is because of traditional traditions and pregnancy out of wedlock. By now, they had all performed a sacramental marriage. This they do with the aim that their marriage is recognized by the Church and the state.

Abstract

The family is the smallest unit forming society so that the role of the family in providing a foundation or basis for them to be able to live in the midst of society is very crucial. In this case,the role of christianrelegious education and parenting has a major contribution in shaping children,s social behavior in the family. The purpose of this researchis to describe the role of Christian religious education in the family and parenting styles of parents that will shape children,s behavior in the family at adolescence. This method used is descriptive qualitative by collecting data by means of intervies and documentation. The results of the this study show that the role of Christian religious education in the clan and parenting that is carried out from an early age becomes the foundations.

Abstract

Relationships are the basis for establishing unity for related parties. The existence of Catholic Schools and State Departments is a sign and means of relation between Church and State. Both have their own duties and characteristics. Catholic schools are a means for the Church to grow in faith and education. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Religion is a means for the State to prosper as well as a forum for the existence of religious life. Catholic schools and the Ministry of Religion have a relationship that needs each other. The presence of a Catholic School which is also the presence of the Church requires a legal certainty in the form of a law that is accommodated by the State through the Ministry of Religion. The Ministry of Religion exists as a legal entity for the Church. The form of institutional relations between Catholic Schools and the Ministry of Religion is also established in the form of welfare relations in terms of completeness and providers of facilities and infrastructure. Catholic schools provide a form of relationship in the form of quality education and the birth of good people for the growth of faith and state life as well as offering educational facilities within a country. The Ministry of Religion provides a form of financial relationship and legal legality for Catholic schools. This is further clarified through Church law (KHK) which has specific points or themes that discuss the relationship between the Church and the State.
