Abstract

Fish farming with adaptive cages is an alternative for developing fishery business activities in coastal areas. The purpose of this study was to analyze the potential for developing adaptive fish cages farming as a form of adaptation to the impact of tidal flooding and climate change. This research was conducted in Bandengan Village, Pekalongan City from July to August 2022. The research method used was descriptive qualitative with purposive sampling and then a SWOT analysis was carried out. The results showed that the water quality parameters at the aquaculture location were still feasible and suitable for fish farming activities. Then, for harvest productivity indicators, it was still quite appropriate and profitable for this operational business cycle. Furthermore, from the analysis of internal business factors identification, 6 elements of strength and 4 elements of weakness affected the operation of fish farming. Meanwhile, from the identification of external business factors, there were 5 elements of opportunity and 2 elements of threats that could affect the operational aquaculture cycle. From the results of SWOT matrix analysis, by comparing the elements of business opportunities, weaknesses, strengths, and threats, a comparison point was obtained between 2.04 and 1.38, or it was in first quadrant in SWOT matrix, meaning good strength to be developed further. In conclusion, fish farming activities with the concept of adaptive cages were very feasible and profitable to be developed in coastal areas that are vulnerable to tidal flooding and climate change effects.Key words: Coastal, Climate change, Development, Fish aquaculture, SWOT

Abstract

AbstractSnakehead fish (Channa sp.) is one of Indonesia's native freshwater commodities that has been successfully domesticated by fish farmers, yet the domesticated snakehead fish culture still has problems, namely the low survival and growth of local snakehead fish. Overcoming this problem requires a technology that can optimize the survival and growth of the domesticated snakehead fish (Channa sp.). One technology that can be applied is the use of probiotics. This reserach aimed to examine different probiotics through feed to optimize the survival and growth of domesticated snakehead fish (Channa sp.). This research was conducted with an experimental method. The experimental design used was a completely randomized design with 4 treatments and 3 replications. The treatments were control treatment (P0), treatment with probiotic composition of Lactobacillus sp., Bacillus spp. and Nitrosomonas sp. (P1), treatment with probiotic composition of Lactobacillus casei and Saccharomyces cerevisiae (P2), and treatment with probiotic composition of Lactobacillus sp., Acetobacter, Rhodobacter sp., yeast (P3). The results showed that different probiotic feeding had a significant effect (P<0.05) on the survival parameters and different probiotic feeding compositions had no significant effect (P>0.05) on the growth parameters. The composition of Lactobacillus casei and Saccharomyces cerevisiae probiotics is the best probiotic composition to increase survival and growth of domesticated snakehead fish. Keywords: Domestication, Growth, Survival Rate, Probiotic

Abstract

Indonesia has biodiversity and one of which is the diversity of ornamental fish species both marine and freshwater. One type of freshwater ornamental fish is quite in demand, namely guppies. This study aimed to analyze the effect of adding tropical almond leaf powder to the growth performance of guppies. This study used an experimental method with the addition of tropical almond leaf powder. The experimental design used was a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 5 treatments, namely treatment A (without the addition of tropical almond leaf powder/control), B (tropical almond leaf powder with a dose 0,13 g/L), C (tropical almond leaf powder with a dose 0,26 g/L), D (tropical almond leaf powder with a dose 0,40 g/L), E (tropical almond leaf powder with a dose 0,53 g/L), and each treatment was repeated 3 times. The data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) at a significant level of 5% with a 95% confidence interval and continued with the Duncan test. The result showed that the addition of tropical almond leaf powder had a significant effect on the parameters of absolute weight growth, specific weight growth rate, absolute length growth, specific length growth rate, feed conversion ratio, bacterial abundance and oxygen consumption level. Yet, it did not have a significant effect on the parameters of the survival rate of guppies. The best dose of tropical almond leaf powder obtained in this study was in treatment C (0,26 g/L).Keywords: Growth Performance, Guppies, Tropical Almond.
