Abstract

Young adults, including students and early-career workers, often maintain unhealthy eating habits due to reliance on fast food and digital delivery services. This community service program aimed to enhance nutritional literacy and healthy diet management skills using the "Isi Piringku" (My Plate) concept. The methods employed included participatory education, food label literacy, and practical simulations for choosing healthy menus at local food stalls (warteg) and through online delivery apps. The program involved 30 participants aged 19-27. Evaluation results showed a significant knowledge increase, with average scores rising from 41.7 to 88.7 (a 47% improvement). Furthermore, 90% of participants successfully demonstrated how to arrange a balanced nutritional plate on a limited budget during simulation sessions. In conclusion, practical simulation-based education effectively changes young adults' perception that healthy eating is affordable and accessible. This initiative is expected to prevent non-communicable diseases by fostering independent and better nutritional choices in the digital era.

Abstract

Adolescents face academic and social pressures that can trigger stress and anxiety, requiring educational interventions to improve coping skills. This community service activity aimed to provide mental health education to adolescents in Dusun Manukan, Kalurahan Sendangsari, Kapanewon Pajangan, Bantul Regency, and enhance their understanding of early detection strategies for stress and anxiety. Methods included interactive education, group discussions, and Q&A sessions, involving 34 active adolescents. Activity stages included material preparation and coordination, educational implementation, and evaluation through Q&A and participant observation. Results indicated increased understanding of stress, anxiety, and coping strategies, especially in recognizing early stress signs and managing emotional responses adaptively. This initiative highlights the importance of empowering adolescents as mental health agents in the community while strengthening preparedness and social skills. Continuous training is recommended to maintain acquired knowledge and skills.

Abstract

Stunting remains a significant public health issue in Indonesia, primarily caused by inadequate maternal nutrition during pregnancy. Nutritional education for pregnant women is a critical strategy to prevent stunting in infants. This community service activity was conducted in Desa Manukan, Sendangsari, Pajangan, Kabupaten Bantul, targeting 40 pregnant women. Methods included educational lectures, interactive discussions, and healthy menu simulations to enhance participants’ knowledge and skills in applying balanced dietary practices. Evaluation was conducted through question-and-answer sessions and observation of participant engagement. Results indicated significant improvements in understanding maternal nutritional needs, recognition of nutritious foods, planning healthy daily menus, and knowledge of stunting prevention. Observational data showed that most participants actively engaged in discussions and were capable of preparing healthy menus following balanced nutrition principles. Practical, simulation-based education proved effective in strengthening participants’ preparedness to maintain maternal and infant health. This activity underscores the importance of community-based nutritional interventions during pregnancy to reduce the risk of stunting.

Abstract

Cervical cancer is one of the leading causes of female mortality in Indonesia, yet public awareness regarding early detection and HPV vaccination remains low, particularly in rural areas. Socio-cultural barriers and a lack of information are the primary obstacles to preventive efforts. This community service activity aims to improve health literacy regarding the importance of HPV vaccination and Visual Inspection with Acetic Acid (VIA) screening at the village level. The method employed was public health education using a persuasive-educative approach through lectures, visual media, and props demonstrations. The target participants consisted of 20 adolescent girls and 25 women of childbearing age. Evaluation was conducted quantitatively through pre-test and post-test scores and qualitatively through observations of participant responses. The results showed a significant increase in knowledge, with the highest improvement in the function and methods of VIA screening at 47%. Prior to the education, participants tended to have misconceptions and fear of medical procedures; however, post-intervention, participant awareness increased positively. The conclusion of this activity is that community-based socialization is effective in shifting the public paradigm from reactive to proactive, as well as eliminating negative stigmas toward early detection of cervical cancer.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology has made digital media a primary source of health information for the public. However, easy access to information also increases the risk of health misinformation, which may negatively affect health-related decision making. This activity aimed to improve community digital health literacy to prevent health misinformation through an educative–participatory approach. A pre-experimental design with a one group pre-test and post-test was applied. The intervention consisted of interactive education sessions, group discussions, and case studies using common health information found on social media platforms. The results indicated improvements in participants’ knowledge, critical attitudes, and ability to evaluate the credibility of digital health information. Participants became more cautious and selective in accepting and sharing health-related content. These findings suggest that strengthening digital health literacy is an effective promotive and preventive strategy to address health misinformation challenges in the digital era.

Abstract

The rapid development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in healthcare has increased the use of digital platforms for self-health assessment, particularly among young people. However, inadequate understanding of AI may lead to inappropriate self-diagnosis and potential health risks. This community service activity aimed to enhance young people’s awareness of the risks associated with AI-based self-diagnosis through an educative–participatory approach. A pre-experimental design with a one-group pre-test and post-test was employed. The intervention consisted of interactive health education, group discussions, and case-based learning related to AI health applications. Evaluation focused on changes in participants’ knowledge, risk awareness, critical attitudes, and digital health behavior before and after the intervention. The results indicated a significant shift in participants’ perspectives, from uncritical reliance on AI toward more cautious and reflective use. Participants recognized the limitations of AI and the importance of consulting healthcare professionals for medical decisions. This activity supports the development of safer and more responsible health behaviors in the context of increasing AI integration in everyday life in 2026.
