Abstract

There were various manuscripts spread in the archipelago. Some of the manuscripts are the source of history, literature, and religious principle, and some of them are source of medical healing as ancestral heritage. Actually, the using of traditional healing and medicines at the first is a hereditary tradition transmitted orally from one generation to the next generation. However, this traditional healing is still existed. There are some studies studied about Islam, literature, and local custom manuscripts, but studying on traditional healing and medicines manuscripts is very lack. Even though, some of the traditional healing and medicines still existed in the modern life. By using philological approach and historical approach, this research will conduct the traditional healing and medicine which are found in Mujarrabat Jawan. These approaches will cover the description of traditional healing and medicines in the manuscript and show how it practiced in everyday life. This study shows that there are some common diseases that affect people in the archipelago such as fever, toothache and sore eyes (bḗlḗk). This manuscript shows that traditional medicine is carried out in two ways. First, by using traditional ingredients such as shallots to treat burns. Second, by using Holy Qur’an readings taken from same verses in the Qur’an. This healing can be seen in the healing of toothache by reading surah al-An’am.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the relationship between the poem Kukusan by Emi Suy and the poem Bunda Airmata by MH Ainun Najib. The theory used in this research uses comparative literary theory which discusses metaphor, symbols and relevance in the two poems. The data collection technique uses first level semiotic reading, namely heuristics. The data analysis technique uses the second level of semiotic reading, namely hermeneutics. The results of the analysis of the poem "Bunda Airmata" by M.H. Ainun Najib and "Kukusan" by Emi Suy are that they both raise the theme of a mother's struggle, although through different writing styles, context and symbolism. In "Our Lady of Tears," the mother is described as a figure who has a deep spiritual dimension, guides her children in religious values, and is able to convey emotional strength through her tears. On the other hand, "Steamed" depicts the mother as a figure who faces struggles like the bamboo steaming process, reflecting resilience and strength in facing the pressures and difficulties of life.

Abstract

In Indonesia it is often heard and seen that a situation can occur because there is a mystical element around it. This mystical element goes hand in hand with normal conditions and this has become normal consumption in society. This confusion between reality and mysticism also often appears in the stories of islamic kiai/ulama. They have supernatural powers where these conditions are manifested in the real world so that these real conditions become even more unique with the presence of this mystical element. The supernatural powers within the kiai's body are displayed beautifully in the short story Kiai Genggong by Moh. Wan Anwar. We know that the world of literature does not just create reality as a framework for stories, but mystical elements can also be injected into it. These mystical elements are sometimes inexplicable and supernatural. In it there are strange events so that there seems to be no boundary between the real situation and the supernatural when they collide with each other. By using Wendy B. Faris' theory of magical realism and combining it with Lexy J. Moleong's qualitative research method, this research tries to explore mystical points above the surface of normality in short stories to find out the role and function of mysticism in life. Based on this research, it is known that mysticism in Indonesian islamic boarding schools plays a role as a means of spiritual development and deep understanding of islamic teachings. Its main functions include strengthening the relationship with God, enriching religious experiences, and educating students about moral and ethical values through practices such as dhikr, wirid, and special rituals. Apart from that, mysticism also helps maintain the unique religious traditions and culture in the islamic boarding school environment.

Abstract

Walt Disney Pictures has adapted several famous animated cartoons into live-action films in recent years, including Alice in Wonderland. The film is based on Lewis Carroll's classic novel, which tells the story of Alice's adventures in Wonderland. The adaptation process brought several changes in the form of the latest story. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method to investigate and examine the reimagination markers and reimagination functions from the animated film Alice in Wonderland (1951) to the live-action version (2010). This study utilizes the reimagination theory of Purnomo et al., which categorizes markers into mutations and presences in textual, visual, and operative elements. These markers allow the work to fulfill various functions, including Stylistic, Ludic, Metathetic, Media, Branding, and Cultural Functions. This study found significant variations between the 1951 animated and 2010 live-action versions of Alice in Wonderland. The most common reimagination markers were in the visual elements. Meanwhile, the stylistic function is most frequently found in the function section. The findings of this study are likely to provide an additional and new understanding of cinematic adaptation and literary reimagination.
