Abstract

 This study aims to assess the effectiveness of the drainage system in the urban area of Petisah Hulu Village in reducing the risk of flooding caused by high rainfall and rapid land use changes. Hydrological analysis was conducted using the Log Pearson Type III distribution to calculate the design rainfall, while the existing channel capacity was analyzed using the rational method. Based on the technical evaluation in the Final Report of the Medan Urban Drainage Plan (MUDP) Open Channel Inventory, the results of the study indicate a very high level of flood vulnerability. It was found that 58.4% of the total channel length did not meet the safety threshold criteria (freeboard < 30 cm) for the design flood discharge. The accumulation of surface runoff and domestic waste caused excess capacity of 41.6% at critical points, especially on Jalan Gajah Mada and Jalan S. Parman which flow into the Babura River. This decline in performance was significantly influenced by inadequate measurements.

Abstract

Plastic waste, particularly polyethylene terephthalate (PET) from beverage bottles, constitutes a major source of non-biodegradable waste that is difficult to decompose and poses long-term environmental risks. The utilization of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) waste as a partial replacement for coarse aggregate in concrete offers a dual benefit: reducing plastic waste while conserving natural aggregates and decreasing concrete density for lightweight applications.This study systematically examines the mechanical properties of polyethylene terephthalate (PET)-based concrete through a systematic literature review following the PRISMA 2020 protocol, covering publications from 2018 to 2026. A literature search was conducted across the SINTA, Portal Garuda, Google Scholar, and Scopus databases, yielding 155 initial articles. After a rigorous screening process, 7 experimental studies met the inclusion criteria, namely those that utilized polyethylene terephthalate (PET) as a coarse aggregate substitute and reported quantitative data on compressive strength and/or density. The synthesis reveals a consistent trend in which increasing polyethylene terephthalate (PET) content reduces compressive  strength (ranging from 13–20 MPa at 5–10% substitution and 7–10 MPa at >25%) as well as density (1,645–1,900 kg/m³), resulting in lightweight non-structural concrete. A combination of PET and rice husk ash achieved an optimal compressive strength of 24.85 MPa. Substitution levels of 5–10% are most suitable for semi-structural elements, whereas levels above 25% are optimal for non-structural applications such as partition panels and precast drainage channels.

Abstract

 Parenting style plays a crucial role in shaping children’s character and behavior. However, limited access to relevant knowledge often prevents parents from recognizing the type of parenting they practice. To address this issue, this study developed an Android-based application for determining parenting styles using the Scrum software development framework. The parenting style classification system was built by applying the Rule-Based Reasoning (RBR) method, which processed Pengguna questionnaire inputs into IF–THEN logical rules based on two primary psychological dimensions: control and warmth. The rules and assessment indicators were derived from expert knowledge obtained from Gantari Psychology Clinic. Based on the scores of these two dimensions, the system classified parenting styles into four categories: Authoritative (Democratic), Authoritarian, Permissive, and Neglectful. In addition, the application provided personalized parenting recommendations tailored to the child’s age (0–60 months) and the dominant parenting style identified. Functional testing of the system used the Black Box Testing method indicated that all core features operate effectively and in accordance with the system design. This application was expected to serve as a practical self-learning tool for parents to evaluate and improve their parenting practices, thereby supporting optimal child development.

Abstract

The retirement application process at BKPSDM Lampung Tengah currently faces challenges in determining service priority due to high document volume and diverse criteria. This study aims to develop a decision support system to objectively determine retirement application priorities using the Fuzzy Simple Additive Weighting (F-SAW) method. This method was selected for its ability to handle data uncertainty through fuzzy logic and rank alternatives based on predetermined criteria weights, including retirement type, time urgency, document completeness, and number of dependents. The system was developed using the Waterfall model and implemented as a web-based application. The results demonstrate that the system produces retirement priority rankings with high accuracy. Based on functional testing using Black Box Testing, the system operates according to the design. Furthermore, validation testing shows a consistency level of 99.96% compared to manual calculations. The implementation of this system is expected to accelerate decision-making processes and enhance the efficiency of personnel administration services at BKPSDM Lampung Tengah.

Abstract

Sugar production in Indonesia is still fluctuating and has not been able to meet the increasing domestic demand, so a comprehensive analysis of factors related to sugar production and accurate forecasting methods is needed. This study aims to analyze the relationship between sugarcane production and yield to sugar production in Indonesia and compare the accuracy of multiple linear regression forecasting methods and Single Exponential Smoothing (SES). The data used is secondary data obtained from the Central Statistics Agency with a total of 44 observations. The analysis was carried out using linear regression to test the relationship between variables and the SES method to forecast until 2025. The results showed that sugarcane production and yield had a significant relationship with sugar production, both partially and simultaneously, with a determination coefficient value (R²) of 0.703. The accuracy test showed that the linear regression method had a MAPE value of 11.75%, while the SES method was 8.85%, so the SES was considered more accurate. The forecast results indicate a trend to increase sugar production until 2025. Thus, the SES method is more suitable for forecasting, while linear regression is more appropriate for analyzing the relationships between variables.

Abstract

The increasing industrial activities and rapid development of digital technology have significantly impacted the environment, including rising energy consumption, carbon emissions, and the exploitation of natural resources. These conditions highlight the need for more effective, efficient, and sustainable environmental management strategies through the utilization of digital technologies. Digital business transformation has emerged as one of the approaches considered capable of supporting environmental sustainability through the integration of information technology in resource management and environmental monitoring. This study aims to analyze the role of digital business transformation in supporting environmental sustainability through the utilization of digital technologies in resource management and environmental monitoring. The research method used is a literature review with a descriptive qualitative approach, examining various scientific articles and previous studies related to digital transformation, information technology, and sustainable environmental management. The results indicate that the implementation of digital technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), big data, artificial intelligence, and cloud computing can improve operational efficiency, enhance the accuracy of real-time environmental monitoring, and support data-driven decision-making within organizations. In addition, digital business transformation contributes to improving environmental performance, increasing transparency in resource management, and reducing negative impacts on the environment. Therefore, digital business transformation has become an important strategy in achieving more effective, efficient, and sustainable environmental management.

Abstract

The construction sector is one of the industries with a relatively high risk of occupational accidents due to complex work activities, the use of heavy equipment, and dynamic working environments. These conditions make the implementation of Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) essential to protect workers from occupational accidents and health problems. This study was conducted to evaluate the implementation of OSH and identify potential work accident risks in construction projects in Medan City. A descriptive qualitative method was applied through field observations, documentation, and an OSH checklist. The results indicate that OSH implementation at the project site has generally been carried out well, as reflected by the availability of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), safety signs, fire extinguishers, and evacuation routes. However, several unsafe conditions were still identified, including incomplete use of PPE, work at heights without adequate protection, and dusty working environments. These conditions may increase the risk of occupational accidents and health problems among workers. Therefore, improved supervision, worker awareness, and environmental control are needed to optimize OSH implementation and create a safer workplace.

Abstract

Conventional asphalt still has limitations in withstanding increasing traffic loads and environmental influences, which can lead to permanent deformation, cracking, and a reduction in pavement service life. Various studies have developed modified asphalt to improve pavement performance; however, the findings remain scattered and have not been comprehensively synthesized. This study aims to examine the physical and mechanical characteristics of modified asphalt based on laboratory testing results using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method. Data were collected from Google Scholar, ScienceDirect, SpringerLink, ResearchGate, and SINTA-indexed national journals published between 2020 and 2025. The initial search yielded 85 articles, and after applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 11 articles were selected for analysis. The reviewed data included binder physical characteristics, rheological properties, and the mechanical characteristics of asphalt mixtures. The results indicate that the use of modification materials such as polymers, rubber, nanomaterials, and plastic waste generally improves the softening point, Marshall stability, and resistance to permanent deformation. However, the increased stiffness observed in some modified asphalt types may reduce mixture flexibility and increase the risk of cracking at low temperatures. Therefore, modified asphalt has significant potential to enhance pavement performance, but the selection of modification materials and their dosage should be adjusted to technical requirements to achieve optimal performance.

Abstract

Indonesia’s maritime sector relies heavily on ships with steel-hulled structures that are susceptible to corrosion due to interaction with seawater. This corrosion rate is significantly accelerated by microenvironmental factors such as temperature fluctuations and acidity levels (pH). This qualitative study employs a literature review method to analyze secondary data from 15 reputable scientific journals published between 2021 and 2026. The results of the study show that acidic conditions (pH < 7) and rising seawater temperatures have been proven to simultaneously accelerate the corrosion rate of steel ship hull materials. As a primary protective solution, antifouling paint technology functions effectively as a dual physical barrier to break direct contact between the metal and the electrolyte while preventing the attachment of marine microorganisms. Based on a comparative matrix, spray-applied polyurethane demonstrated the most optimal protective efficiency on steel, with the lowest average corrosion rate of 2.5402 × 10?? mmpy. In addition, the use of natural materials such as sweet orange peels and kepok banana peels has great potential as environmentally friendly coating alternatives, with average corrosion rates ranging from 0.010 to 0.045 mmpy. Although the application of these coatings faces challenges such as high costs and weather-related factors, optimizing these protective coatings is crucial for improving ship operational efficiency.

Abstract

Generators are important components in power generation systems and require protection systems to safeguard equipment from internal faults. One of the protection systems applied to Units 5–7 generators at PT Indonesia Power PGU Suralaya is the differential relay as the main protection system. This study aims to evaluate the setting parameters of the differential relay used in the generator protection system of Units 5–7 at PT Indonesia Power PGU Suralaya. The research employed a quantitative descriptive method with a case study approach. Data were collected during an industrial internship through observation, documentation, interviews, and literature review. The analyzed data included commissioning records, Current Transformer (CT) ratios, and differential relay setting parameters. The results indicate that the differential relay settings at Units 5, 6, and 7 have not changed from the original commissioning data. For relay 87G, the line CT and neutral CT ratios were 24000/5 A, with a differential current pickup (?I) of 125 mA and a slope setting of 10%. For relay 87GT, the UST A CT, USB B CT, and GEN CT ratios were 24000/5 A, while the GSU CT ratio was 1900/5 A, with a slope setting of 30%. The evaluation results show that the protection system configuration remains consistent with the initial commissioning settings. Therefore, the differential relay settings continue to meet the established protection parameters for generator protection in Units 5–7 at PT Indonesia Power PGU Suralaya.
