Abstract

The Integrated DigiWisata Program aims to encourage institutional strengthening and digital transformation of Peunaga Pasi Village in West Aceh Regency as a coastal tourism village based on education, culture, and the environment. This village has a unique geographic character with a combination of beaches, swamps, and a strong tsunami history, as well as a number of local attractions such as a mini waterboom, traditional salt tourism, and educational rides. However, this potential has not been managed in an integrated and professional manner. The main problems faced include the weak institutional structure of the Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMG) and Tourism Awareness Groups (Pokdarwis), the absence of a digital management and financial system, low digital promotion capacity, the lack of integration of tourist attractions into one visit package, and the lack of a waste management system in the tourist area. This has led to low tourist visits and a suboptimal contribution to the local creative economy. Through a collaborative and research-based approach, this empowerment program carries out a series of strategic interventions, ranging from the preparation of institutional documents and BUMG Standard Operating Procedures, training in digital financial recording systems, activating tourism village websites and social media, to building educational showrooms and procuring waste shredders. All activities are designed to strengthen the community's capacity to manage local potential sustainably and independently. This program supports the achievement of the SDGs, the Key Performance Indicators (KPI) of Higher Education, and RIRN's focus on social innovation and strengthening community-based economies. The community empowerment program is designed to run for three years, with the first year being the foundational stage for institutional and technological strengthening, followed by business diversification and digital promotion development, and the third year ending with the independence and model replication phase.

Abstract

Losing a child to a rare disease is a very traumatic experience for parents, especially mothers. This community service program, titled “Grief Support for Mothers Who Have Lost Children to Rare Diseases,” aims to provide psychological support for mothers who are grieving. Held virtually from May to June 2024 in collaboration with Enabled.id, this program is a psychological intervention structured based on the 5 stages of PATH (problem, analysis, test, and help) which results in a series of intervention programs consisting of education about the stages of grief, sharing in groups, and mindfulness techniques to help emotional recovery, followed by journaling sessions, and identification of grief triggers. The sessions were conducted in five groups of 15 mothers who had lost their children to rare diseases/disabilities, recruited through the Enabled.id network. Undergraduate psychology students also participated as assistants, gaining practical experience through internships at Enabled.id. The program achieved 100% of its goals, receiving positive feedback from participants who felt validated and equipped with tools to manage grief. This program demonstrates the positive benefits of a group-based grief intervention in improving psychological well-being and highlights the importance of collaborative community engagement efforts as a support system. Future development directions should be to expand the reach of the program to more families in need.

Abstract

Learning English as a foreign language is one of the most important yet difficult skills for high school students to develop. Student high school from several schools in Aceh Province participated in the program, which was conducted online for a period of four months. Students received significant opportunities to use English in a calm and enjoyable setting, which reduced anxiety and encouraged spontaneous communication. Game-based speaking activities increased students' engagement, acquisition of vocabulary, and fluency in expressing ideas. The results of this community service initiative show that integrating digital technology and game-based learning can be an innovative approach to improving English-speaking skills among high school students. The results of this initiative are expected to be published in an accredited SINTA community service journal as a practical model for improving English-speaking skills among students.

Abstract

The low level of awareness and understanding among micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSME) regarding the concept of product halalness remains one of the main obstacles in strengthening the halal industry in Indonesia. Many business owners still lack knowledge about the importance of halal certification and the proper ways to ensure the halal integrity of ingredients and production processes. This activity aimed to improve the knowledge and understanding of Cilor MSME entrepreneurs around Palima, Serang City, regarding the concept of halal products through halal education activities. The methods used included interviews, interactive counseling sessions, and evaluations through pretest and posttest assessments. The activity was carried out in several locations around Palima, involving multiple business owners as participants. The results indicated a significant improvement in participants’ understanding, where the average pretest scores ranged from 30–65%, while posttest scores increased up to 100% in most indicators. These findings demonstrate that halal education activities are effective in enhancing halal literacy and increasing MSME awareness of the implementation of halal principles in production.

Abstract

Social media has become a massive medium for socialization, education, and learning, including education on minimizing waste. Moreover, almost everyone has social media nowadays, so it is not only a necessity but also a lifestyle. This includes the lifestyle of turning waste into something more meaningful and useful, one of which is by managing organic waste into eco enzymes. Eco enzymes produced from household waste management are managed by educating the community to be more prudent in managing the waste they produce. Social media is capable of providing ideas for education and socialization in various fields. The participants in this empowerment program are mostly productive-aged individuals who are familiar with social media, making this empowerment easy to understand. This empowerment is supported by several community accounts and personal accounts whose content focuses on managing organic waste and networking with other communities. Community development through this social movement can provide motivation and support for zero waste programs and movements as an effort to minimize waste for the sustainability of the environment. Because waste is not only our responsibility but a shared responsibility. Support for this program will certainly have a greater impact if it involves the younger generation.
