Abstract

Educational researchers have made great strides in theorizing teacher professional development, though attention is still concentrated on isolated mental processes. This study therefore reports on a narrative inquiry aiming to find out micro-level development process that occurs in two novice EFL teachers and also to reveal the features of teacher’s change that appear to facilitate English language teaching and learning. A variety of data collection techniques including; narrative frame, field notes, semi-structured interview and stimulated recall interview are used to make teachers’ behavioral, attitudinal and intellectual component of micro-level development explicit. Two overarching themes that emerge in this narrative inquiry are; the route to be a good English teacher and rediscovering the passion to teach. The important key finding of this study is that the early year of teaching is sensitively crucial to EFL teachers’ micro-level development, which is characterized by a positive shift from constructive experiences and aspiration of better English language learning process to internalization of empathy, attentive and responsive manner. Another key finding of this study is that all the novice EFL teachers who spoke positively about implementing changes in their classroom practices, embraced most of the process of micro level development that occurred, based on intuition, without clear theoretical underpinning of pedagogy, and merely classroom-bound focus. However, this study contributes to the current knowledge in relation to the crucial role of three distinct patterns of PD; discontent, aspiration and without intention

Abstract

Because there is a dearth of accessible reading material, especially braille printed books, this blind reading aid was developed for EFL students. No longer will a blind learner have to rely on braille-printed books to learn and grow. This technology enables visually impaired EFL students to access the same literary works as their sighted peers. This study employs a qualitative approach to experimentation, with data gathered through observation, interviews, and a review of existing literature. This system planning is described using a flowchart and block diagram. The Blackbox testing approach was employed to conduct the tests in this research. The Raspberry Pi was used as the microcontroller, and the Push Button on the Raspberry Pi Camera was used to initiate the graphical capture and subsequent image file processing by Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and Text-to-Speech (TTS). This procedure yields an mp3 file that can be played through loudspeakers or speakers, allowing blind people to "read" printed text by osmosis.

Abstract

This research was conducted to find out how to practice science learning for elementary school students using educational games that have been developed with the Gdevelop application. This goal is based on the stigma in the form of public perception that games have a negative impact on learning, as well as a lack of knowledge about using games or other digital learning tools in the classroom, which causes students to become more accustomed to learning using conventional teaching techniques. This research was conducted using a qualitative descriptive method, and the instruments used were questionnaires and interviews using the data analysis technique of Miles and Huberman's model (Analysis Interactive Model). This research was conducted at SDN Lariang Bangi I, the number of respondents in this study were 23 students. The practicality of educational games is determined based on product trials and the responses of teachers and students to educational games. The results of this study indicate that there are (83%) students who agree that the use of educational games as learning media can make it easier for them to understand science learning material. In addition, based on the validation results, it shows that the teacher's assessment of the product is above 80% which indicates that the product is suitable for use in learning. From the results of the research that has been done, it can be concluded that the use of educational games based on Gdevelop is considered very practical in its use.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine library services in this case circulation services, reference services, on-site reading services and ICT-based services as well as supporting and inhibiting factors in school library services. This research approach is qualitative with a type of description. Data collection techniques were carried out by interview, observation and documentations. Data analysis techniques using data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. Checking the validity of the data is done by trianggulation technique. The reserch results showed that : 1) the circulation service has a collection of 19,839 books, but does not yet have a non-book collection such as tape recorders, sound slides, video cassettes, sound films and many more. The system used in this library is an open service system. 2) The reference service has 587 collections consisting of dictionaries, encyclopedias, maps and others. In this service, users can obtain information and assistance regarding the existence of the collection needed. 3) on-site reading services, in this service the library provides 6 reading tebles placed in several corners of the room so that students get good lighting and air circulation. Howefer, this service is currently unvailable because students rarely use it. 4) ICT-based services, in the SMA Negeri 5 Enrekang library this service is not yet available because officers are still in the stage of entering library materials into the library application. While the supporting factors for library services are the personnel or the staff themselves, staff commitment and adequate books. While the inhibiting factors are the library collections which are still in hard copy form, lack of student interest and limited staff/librarians.
