Abstract

This study aims to determine the increase in motivation, student learning with the development of learning tools and their implementation through the 2013 curriculum and the independent curriculum with the application of the STAD Type Cooperative Learning model. critical of a learning plan by the teacher, teacher interaction with students, and how students interact in class Improvement of the implementation of the learning process in class from cycle I with an average score of 31.57% with the category not achieving the predetermined success criteria and in cycle II with a value reaching 52.63% This means that the research indicators have been achieved and there is no need to continue in the next cycle

Abstract

Regional languages are one of the characteristics that are owned by Indonesia and their existence is still very well preserved in Indonesia, but the use of regional languages cannot be used in any place, for example in certain institutions and when formal associations are held. Why should this be applied because Indonesia has one unit that forms the basis of Indonesian unity, namely the official Indonesian language, if the use of regional languages is used in any place the impact can cause misunderstandings that will lead to divisions between people. The impact of the use of regional languages that are not used in other places, namely in educational institutions where the use of regional languages should not be used during the learning process except in certain learning because it will interfere with the process of understanding the material to students. Why is that because Indonesia has many tribes, cultures, languages, religions and races whose unity must be maintained. In this discussion, it will be explained how the influence of regional languages on classroom learning will be explained.

Abstract

The research objectives are: (i) to describe phrase errors found in students’ expository writing of class X at SMA YAPIP Sungguminasa in Gowa Regency; and (ii) to describe sentence errors found in students’ expository writing of class X at SMA YAPIP Sungguminasa in Gowa Regency. The study used a qualitative descriptive design. Data collection techniques are techniques to read, take notes, and interview teachers and students. Data were analyzed by identifying, classifying, explaining, and evaluating. The results showed that (i) phrase errors include four types of prepositional phrase errors: verbal phrase errors, nominal phrase errors, and adjectival phrase errors; (ii) sentence errors include seven types: sentences with no subject, sentences with no subject and no predicate, illogical sentences, pleonasms, conjunctive disappearances, excessive conjunctions, and unnecessary usage of unquestioned words.

Abstract

Faktor sosial ekonomi yang ada di dalam masyarakat merupakan pemicu bagi individu untuk memunculkan perilaku dan pengalaman yang tidak sehat di antaranya adalah ketidakstabilan dalam rumah tangga, kekerasan anak, orang tua perokok, orang tua pemabuk, akses kesehatan yang sulit, polusi lingkungan, perokok berat, peminum berat, minuman keras dan narkoba oleh remaja. Alkohol adalah zat psikoaktif yang bersifat ketergantungan yang telah banyak digunakan dalam banyak budaya selama berabad-abad.. Mengonsumsi alkohol dapat menyebabkan berbagai jenis gangguan kesehatan, salah satunya kesehatan psikis. Gangguan psikis yang bisa muncul akibat dari konsumsi alkohol yaitu stress, agresivitas, kecemasan dan lain sebagainya. Beberapa remaja tanpa mereka sadari mengalami kecemasan setelah mengonsumsi alkohol. Kecemasan merupakan suatu perasaan yang tidak menyenangkan yang didominasi oleh rasa takut, tegang, gelisah, dan marah. Tipe penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini ialah pendekatan kualitatif. Pendekatan penelitian ini adalah fenomenologi. Teknik pengumpulan data yang utama adalah wawancara mendalam, observasi, dokumentasi, dan triangulasi, terhadap responden. Prosedur pengambilan sampel dalam penelitian ini menggunakan purposive sampling, yaitu pengambilan sampel yang dipilih secara khusus berdasarkan tujuan dan pembeda dari penelitian ini. Sedangkan untuk lokasi penelitian adalah tempat di mana data diperoleh yang diberikan secara langsung dari responden. Lokasi pengambilan data dalam penelitian ini dilakukan di Daun Kopi yang ada di Kota Makassar. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan remaja yang terus menerus mengonsumsi alkohol dapat mengalami kecemasan yang lebih sering atau lebih intens. P enggunaan alkohol sebagai cara untuk mengatasi kecemasan jangka panjang dapat menyebabkan masalah yang lebih besar, seperti ketergantungan alkohol atau gangguan kecemasan yang berhubungan dengan alkohol (AUD).

Abstract

This research aimed to provide descriptive accounts of the use of paragraph cohesion in the textbook in learning materials for an essay writing class at UNM Makassar. This research employed a qualitative approach with descriptive data exposure. Qualitative research is research that aims to describe research results. This research analyzes and reveals various qualitative information with a detailed description through cohesion in this textbook. The research design used is descriptive-analytical. This design is a research design that describes the research objectively. Researchers observe in-depth and conduct an in-depth analysis of the object of research. In the application of this research design, the first thing the researcher did was to collect data and references relevant to the object of research, sort and categorize the data found, process the data, and then present the data objectively following the results of interruptions to the object of research conducted. The findings showed. The data analysis presentation consists of (1) cohesion, which includes grammatical cohesion (reference, substitution, ellipsis, and conjunction), and lexical cohesion, which includes repetition, synonym, antonym, hyponym, and collocation. In this textbook, cohesion has an influential role in the learning activity. It is suggested that it is significant to In the preparation of textbooks, it is recommended to study the presentation of the learning material to make it easier for students to understand. To facilitate students' understanding of the material, each paragraph of the learning material in the textbooks of the essay writing course at UNM should pay more attention to cohesion. Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the content validity of English reading material needs questionnaires for chemical engineering students based on critical thinking abilities. The ADDIE model was modified for the Research and Development (R & D) plan that includes this investigation. In the analysis phase, questionnaires are created to define the issue and pinpoint its origin. The questionnaires are divided into three sections. The purpose of the first section is to learn more about the individual identities of the respondents. The second part of the survey tries to find out respondents' levels of proficiency in reading English-language literature as well as their motivations for learning the language. The final section consists of six questions, including how crucial it is to engage in critical thinking activities in order to comprehend English texts, the importance of reading strategies, learning strategies, text types, and the teacher's role. Two experts validate the content of the research tools used for the requirements analysis tests. Gregory's formula is used to assess the expert judgments' data. The results of the study showed that both raters agree with the aspects of personal background, purpose of learning English, students' ability level, Critical thinking activities in understanding English texts, reading techniques, and learning techniques. Both raters also agree on the aspect of 'text types' and 'lecturer's role'. All of the items of the aspects of chemical engineering students' needs questionnaires for English reading materials development are valid and can be distributed without any significant revisions.

Abstract

Research on speaking anxiety has often been the focus of research in language learning to date. This research topic is important to provide information about the level of anxiety they experience when speaking English and to what extent it impacts the quality of students' speaking. Therefore, implementing research is important for developing strategies for learning English according to the habits and challenges they experience. This study examines students' anxiety levels, especially during public speaking. Data was collected using the Public Speaking Class Anxiety Scale (PSCAS) questionnaire and then analyzed separately based on anxiety, communication apprehension, comfort in speaking English, and fear of negative evaluation. The results showed that 50% of students were at the medium level, 35% at the high level, and 15% at the low anxiety level. Anxiety arises from internal factors such as a tense and stiff body, a heart beating faster, and the inability to control body movements. External factors such as fear of being laughed at and getting a negative response from the public also cause anxiety. This study also found that the main causes of anxiety are lack of grammar knowledge, lack of vocabulary mastery, and failure to construct good sentences

Abstract

The study employs a descriptive approach to examine the significant role played by Sunday School Caregivers in shaping the character, faith, and spiritual development of children within the Toraja Church. The research aims to offer valuable insights into the diverse roles of Sunday School Caregivers and their contributions to facilitating spiritual growth and character development among the young generation. To collect data for this study, in-depth interviews were conducted with Sunday School Caregivers from various congregations within the Toraja Church region. The data gathered from these interviews provided valuable perspectives and experiences directly from the teachers, shedding light on their practices, challenges, and approaches in nurturing the faith of the children under their care. By exploring the lived experiences and insights of these dedicated educators, the study seeks to enhance our understanding of the profound impact of Sunday School teachers in shaping the spiritual journey of the future torchbearers of the Toraja Church.

Abstract

This research was a quasy experiment which aims to find out the comparison between the use of google classroom media on motivation and learning outcomes in history in the Hindu-Buddhist kingdom of class X students at SMA Negeri 3 Makassar. The research population was all class X students at SMA Negeri 3 Makassar for the academic year 2022/2023 which consisted of 10 classes with a total of 364 students. The selection of the research sample was carried out in a random class manner, so that class X-2 was obtained as the experimental group 1 using google classroom media and class X-8 as the control group without using google classroom media. This research was conducted for 8 hours of lessons (2 meetings for material) and 2 meetings for evaluation. Measuring learning motivation with a questionnaire and learning outcomes was done by giving a multiple-choice test of learning outcomes, included the pretest (students' initial learning outcomes test) and posttest (students' final learning outcomes test). The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and inferentially testing the hypothesis using covariance analysis with a significance level of 0.05. Statistical results of covariance analysis for student motivation (α = 0.05) showed a sig (2-tailed) value of 0.02 <α (0.05) then H0 was rejected and H1 was accepted, while the statistical results of covariance analysis for student learning outcomes (α = 0.05) indicates a sig (2-tailed) value of 0.039 < α = 0.05, then H0 is rejected and H1 was accepted. The assessment of increased motivation and learning outcomes was carried out using N-Gain, where the increase was included in the high category in the experimental class. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that there was an application of the Google classroom platform where there was an increase in motivation and learning outcomes in history on Hindu-Buddhist work material for class X students at SMA Negeri 3 Makassar.

Abstract

Improving Students’ Achievement in Writing Procedure Text By Using Mind Mapping Technique at the Seventh Grade of UPTD SMP NEGERI 2 Gunungsitoli Utara in 2022/2023, Adielya Harazaki Harefa, Jl. Yos Sudarso No. 118/E-S Kota Gunungsitoli, Writing is a way of finding out what people know and what people need to learn. Therefore, it is important for students to master writing in their daily life. In learning writing, most of students could not achieve MCC. There was problem faced by the students in studying writing namely: the students were lack of ideas to write procedure text, the students were lack of vocabulary, the students were unable to implement steps in procedure text. Thus, to overcome these problems, the researchers conducted research by using Mind Mapping Technique. The purpose of the research is to improve the students’ achievement in writing by using Mind Mapping Technique. So, to achieve the purpose, the researchers used Classroom Action Research (CAR). This research has been conducted in two cycles, which each cycle consisted of two meetings, and each meeting consisted of four steps, they were planning, action, observation, and reflection. The result of the data in Cycle I showed there were 6 students (24%) got score among 66-75 classified as “Adequate level”; 5 students (20%) got score among 56-65 classified as “Less level”; 9 students (36%) got score among 46-55 classified as “Less level”; 5 students (20%) got score among 36-45 classified as “Less level”. While in Cycle II there were 22 students (88%) got score among 80-90 and 3 students (12%) got score among 66-75. Based on the result, it is concluded that Mind Mapping Technique cani mprove the students’ writing at the seventh grade of SMP Negeri 2 Gunungsitoli Utara.
