Abstract

According to changes customer behavior including zakat giver (muzaki), social media management plays an important role in increasing the literacy and action of prospective muzaki regarding to ZIS engagement wherever. Start from social media, the opportunity to optimizing ZIS collection is greater and more flexible. This research aims to analyze the optimizing muzaki decision to pay zakat using the AISAS model approach. The AISAS model provides an illustration that social media be able to increase muzaki literacy and muzaki decision to pay zakat and share their experiences of ZIS action to the other community. The results show that social media has an influence on increasing ZIS literacy through AIS (attention, interest, search) as mediating variables. Furthermore, zakat literacy has an influence on increasing desire to pay zakat, action, and sharing experience using social media. However, the influence of social media is still not optimal. The action and share (AS) variables in the AISAS model are considered to have an important role in influencing society to pay zakat.

Abstract

Educational scholarship support for the young generation in Indonesia is a much-needed support for now. Although the government has provided support through the 12-year free learning program, however, high school students still need educational assistance support in preparing for higher education. The Youth Ekselensia Scholarship program is present through the utilization of productive zakat to support high school students preparing to qualify for their dream state university. Productive zakat is the utilization of zakat through productive management and empowerment processes, which in practice is carried out by distributing capital to mustahik which is then managed to fulfill their welfare in the future. In this study, the researcher focuses on the utilization of productive zakat through educational empowerment. “This study aims to analyze how productive zakat can be optimized through educational empowerment within the Youth Ekselensia Scholarship (YES) program. In this research method, the researcher uses descriptive qualitative research and data analysis techniques using the Most Significant Change (MSC) approach. Abstract

The significant gap between the potential zakat collection of Rp327.6 trillion and the actual realization of Rp22.4 trillion challenges zakat management in Indonesia. Rp61.258 trillion in zakat funds remain unrecorded in the National Zakat Report (LZN) due to informal payments through mosques, Islamic boarding schools, or directly to recipients, leading to potential dishonesty and inequality. This study aims to identify the factors influencing the decision to pay zakat through official Zakat Management Organizations (OPZ) in Indonesia, comparing urban and rural muzakki. The research employs Structural Equation Modelling - Multigroup Analysis (SEM-MGA) using SmartPLS for data analysis. The subjects are 400 muzakki in Indonesia who have paid zakat through OPZ. The research findings indicate that trust and accessibility significantly and positively impact the decision to pay zakat through OPZ for both urban and rural muzakki. However, zakat knowledge and income do not influence rural muzakki decisions but have a positive effect on urban muzakki. The regional classification moderates the impact of accessibility on the decision to pay zakat through OPZ but does not moderate the influence of trust, zakat knowledge, and income. This research provides a comparative analysis of urban and rural muzakki, offering new insights into regional differences in zakat payment behavior. The findings of this study also provide practical implications for zakat institutions and policymakers in aligning zakat programs with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Abstract

Poverty remains a significant challenge in many developing nations, including Indonesia. Poverty is also considered a problem caused by uneven economic growth. An effective approach to reducing poverty is through the equitable distribution of zakat, which can help narrow the disparity between the wealthy and those in need. Equitable distribution of zakat can be done by determining the level and potential of poverty in each province in Indonesia. To find out the poverty potential in each province in Indonesia, it is necessary to conduct a cluster analysis by looking at several poverty and economic growth variables. Cluster analysis is an analytical method employed to classify similar objects or individuals based on multiple criteria. Cluster analysis specifically used is k-means clustering which divides provinces in Indonesia into groups by identifying any similarities in the economic growth variables of each province. This analysis aims to categorize provinces in Indonesia based on economic conditions and levels, thereby assisting the government and zakat institutions in the effective distribution of zakat.

Abstract

Islam is the fastest-growing religion in the world. With this growth, many new mosques have emerged, but their financial and social performance has not necessarily kept pace. Nowadays, many mosques prioritize saving money for construction and restoration, even when the mosque has already been completed. Moreover, there are many poor people living in the surrounding areas of these mosques. This implies that mosques often lack effective financial management and do not provide the expected spiritual, social, and economic benefits to their communities. This study finds opportunities and potentials of idle money amounting to IDR 1 trillion per month or approximately IDR 12 trillion per year in Indonesian mosques. Some factors that affect the presence of idle money in mosques are: ongoing or planned mosque restoration projects, the absence of clear work programs, a prevailing belief that a mosque’s success is measured by the size of its savings, and the tendency to save for future operational or emergency needs.

Abstract

Zakat, as one of the five pillars of Islam, carries profound implications not only for economic justice but also for mental and spiritual well-being. This paper explores the interconnection between zakat and mental health through the lens of Islamic values in modern society. Using a qualitative descriptive approach and library research method, data were gathered from Qur’anic verses, hadith, classical fiqh literature, and contemporary journal articles related to Islamic psychology, spirituality, and social welfare. Thematic analysis was employed to identify how zakat contributes to psychological stability, emotional resilience, and social harmony. The findings reveal that zakat functions as both a spiritual and psychosocial mechanism. For muzakki (zakat givers), it purifies the soul from greed, nurtures gratitude, and fosters happiness through altruistic behavior. For mustahik (zakat recipients), it alleviates economic stress, restores dignity, and strengthens hope — all of which are essential components of mental health. Furthermore, zakat builds social solidarity and reduces feelings of isolation by promoting empathy and collective responsibility. The study concludes that zakat reflects a holistic model of well-being that integrates faith, emotion, and social ethics, providing a sustainable framework for mental health promotion in Muslim communities. When managed effectively, zakat institutions such as BAZNAS can serve as faith-based mental health systems that support both individual and societal resilience in facing modern psychological challenges.

Abstract

The digital era continues to innovate to provide new breakthroughs in the world of technology. The number of social media platforms in fact makes people increasingly curious about using them, one of which is the TikTok application. In fact, Indonesia is listed as the largest Tiktok user in the world with 157, 6 users. This certainly attracts the interest of various groups, especially marketing media. Currently, there are many social media that can be used not only as entertainment but also as a place to raise donations. This study investigates young people's behavioral intentions in making decisions to donate through the TikTok platform. Not only that, this can be used by institutions as a reference in developing donation collection to be more optimal, especially on the TikTok platform. This research uses a qualitative method obtained through distributing questionnaires dominated by young people. From these results, it can be analyzed that many young people's decisions to donate online are due to the emotional influence that exists in themselves to contribute to donations. It is hoped that this research can help improve zakat institutions in reaching donations using TikTok and increase the contribution of young people to participate in social care to achieve mutual prosperity

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to explore how Zakat funds can be leveraged to empower small-scale farmers to facilitate enhanced agricultural outputs and contribute to the 2nd United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of eradicating hunger in Babura Local Government Area of Jigawa State, Nigeria. It is an undeniable fact that Zakat funds are meant for the eight prescribed recipients as enshrined by the Quran, this study through a painstaking and contextual consideration drawing from the opinions of Muslim Jurists seeks to elucidate how this form of almsgiving can mobilize financial resources essential for agricultural improvements in the context of Babura small-scale farmers. This exploration aims to provide a comprehensive framework for understanding the multifaceted role of Zakat in transforming agricultural practices within Babura Town. Qualitative secondary data were sourced from Islamic classical literature, academic journals, books and reports from reputable organizations. The data were evaluated to ensure relevance, credibility and reliability and also validated using data triangulation and comparing findings of other studies. The data were analyzed thematically. The research shows that zakat can significantly improve agricultural productivity among small-scale farmers in Babura Town and contribute to the realization of 2nd SDG. It is recommended that Babura LGA Authorities should partner with local zakat committees to integrate zakat funds into local agricultural policies which can improve access to essential agricultural resources, ensure efficient funds distribution, and train the farmers on sustainable agricultural practices.
