Abstract

The issue of low understanding of local culture among elementary school students is a crucial concern for maintaining national identity. The purpose of this study is to analyze the need for GAMASURA gamification for the understanding of local culture among fifth-grade elementary school students. This research was conducted at SDN Sambikerep II/480 Surabaya. The participants in this study were 20 fifth-grade elementary school students. The method used was a questionnaire on the need for GAMASURA gamification. The results of this study show that all fifth-grade students at SDN Sambikerep II/480 Surabaya have digital devices for learning and use digital applications for learning. As many as 75% of students stated that they were interested in learning about the diversity of Indonesian culture. In addition, as many as 55% of students were interested in learning while playing with game elements, as many as 45% of students considered that the use of game elements in learning was very interesting, and as many as 60% of students thought that quiz games were the most popular type of game in learning. Therefore, learning using GAMASURA gamification is needed. The conclusion of this study is that there is a need to develop learning media in the form of GAMASURA gamification for the subject of “Indonesian Cultural Diversity” for fifth-grade elementary school students.

Abstract

Abstract: This study aimed to improve the environmental literacy of second-grade students through the utilization of ecobrick media integrated with the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model at SD Negeri Tanjungrejo 4 in Malang City. The study was motivated by students’ low understanding and implementation of environmental literacy, as reflected in habits such as littering, poor classroom cleanliness, and limited awareness of the surrounding environment. This research employed Classroom Action Research conducted in two cycles involving 23 students during the 2025/2026 academic year. Each cycle included planning, action implementation, observation, reflection, and evaluation stages. Data were collected through a pretest, Cycle I posttest, and Cycle II posttest measuring cognitive, affective, and behavioral indicators of environmental literacy. The findings showed a significant improvement in students’ learning outcomes. The average pretest score increased from 36.22 to 64.78 in Cycle I and reached 84.74 in Cycle II. Learning mastery improved from 30.43% in the pretest to 73.91% in Cycle I and 91.30% in Cycle II. The n-gain analysis indicated that most students achieved a high category in Cycle II, demonstrating the effectiveness of the PjBL ecobrick project. Abstract

This classroom action research aims to determine the effectiveness of Genially-based interactive media in improving fourth-grade elementary school students’ conceptual understanding of photosynthesis. The study was conducted in two cycles, each consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. Data collection was conducted through achievement tests. Data analysis utilized the N-Gain calculation to determine improvements in students’ conceptual understanding. The results indicate that the use of Genially media effectively enhances students’ conceptual understanding. In Cycle I, the low N-Gain category accounted for 42.86%, the moderate category for 57.14%, and no students fell into the high category. In Cycle II, there was an improvement: the moderate category increased to 47.63% and the high category to 52.38%, while the low category was no longer present. These results indicate that Genially-based interactive media is effective for teaching photosynthesis in science education because it enhances student engagement and conceptual understanding more effectively

Abstract

This study aimed to develop a gamification-based digital comic as a learning medium for Pancasila Education for third-grade elementary school students and to determine its feasibility for use in learning. The study employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the 4D model, which consists of the define, design, develop, and disseminate stages. However, this research was conducted only up to the develop stage. The study was carried out at SDN 6 Tahunan and involved media experts, content experts, teachers, and third-grade students. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and questionnaires and were analyzed using descriptive quantitative techniques. The results showed that the gamification-based digital comic achieved a feasibility score of 83% from media experts and 85% from content experts, both of which were categorized as highly feasible. Teacher responses reached 82% and were also categorized as highly feasible, while student responses reached 76.04% and were categorized as feasible. The developed medium integrates contextual stories, visual illustrations, and gamification elements, such as points, challenges, and rewards, to create a more engaging and interactive learning experience. These findings indicate that the gamification-based digital comic meets the criteria of content suitability, visual presentation, language appropriateness, and ease of use. Therefore, it can serve as an innovative alternative learning medium for Pancasila Education in elementary schools

Abstract

This study focuses on the importance of teachers' teaching skills in implementing inclusive learning in elementary schools. Although inclusive learning has been implemented in many places, its implementation still faces obstacles in serving the diverse needs of students. This study aims to examine teachers' teaching skills in creating, implementing, and evaluating inclusive learning processes at Mumtaz 1 Taman Elementary School, as well as identifying problems and methods used in managing inclusive education. The researcher used a qualitative approach with a problem-solving research method. The subjects of this study were three: the first was a fifth-grade teacher, the second was the principal, and the third was a fifth-grade student with disabilities. Information was collected through observation, semi-structured interviews, and notes, then analyzed using interactive analysis and through information reduction, information presentation, and drawing conclusions using triangulation of sources and methods to ensure the validity of data and information. The results of this study indicate that teachers have improved their teaching skills in inclusive education through planning that begins with familiarizing students with comparison, effective communication and understanding student needs, as well as assessment that focuses on individual progress through evaluation, revision, and module deepening.

Abstract

The ability to write expository text is an important academic skill because it is related to the ability to convey ideas, data, and arguments logically and objectively. This study aims to analyze the relationship between reading literacy and mastery of language rules with the ability to write expository text. This study used a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The participants were 173 engineering students. Data were collected through a reading literacy questionnaire, a language rule mastery test, and an expository text writing test. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation, and multiple linear regression. The results showed that students' reading literacy, language rule mastery, and expository text writing ability tended to be high. However, reading literacy did not have a significant relationship with the ability to write expository text. Mastery of language rules also did not have a significant relationship with the ability to write expository text. The regression results showed that both independent variables simultaneously were not significant predictors of the ability to write expository text. This finding suggests that the ability to write expository text needs to be explained through other factors, such as argumentation skills, writing experience, and directed academic writing practices.

Abstract

The fast growth of digital technology has changed how education is done, including how science is taught in college. Future teachers who want to work in elementary schools need to have skills that are important in the 21st century. These skills include thinking critically, being creative, working together with others, communicating effectively, and being able to use digital tools. This study looks at how using digital technology in science lessons can help improve 21st-century skills for students studying to become primary school teachers. The study used a literature review approach by looking at important national and international articles about digital learning, science teaching, and skills needed in the 21st century. The results show that using digital tools in science classes helps students become more involved, better understand science, improve their ability to solve problems, and work better together in groups. Digital tools like learning management systems, interactive multimedia, virtual labs, and educational apps offer valuable learning experiences and help students develop stronger thinking skills. Using digital technology along with science education is a good way to help future elementary school teachers get ready for the challenges of teaching in the modern digital age.

Abstract

This study addresses the low higher-order thinking skills (HOTS) among elementary students by evaluating the implementation of the discovery learning model. It aims to determine the science and social sciences (IPAS) learning outcomes of fifth-grade students at SDN Sukamulya, analyze their obstacles in solving HOTS questions, and identify factors influencing their HOTS development. Employing a descriptive quantitative approach, this study involved 20 fifth-grade students. Data were collected via HOTS-oriented essays and observations, then analyzed using descriptive statistics and a one-sample t-test against the Minimum Mastery Criterion (KKM = 75). The results showed a mean post-test score of only 46.75, significantly below the KKM, with only 5% of students achieving mastery. Most students fell into the "very low" HOTS category due to three main factors: limited teacher readiness in designing HOTS learning, lack of supporting learning media, and low student prior knowledge. In conclusion, these findings underscore the urgent need for systematic improvements in implementing discovery learning to effectively foster higher-order thinking skills at the elementary school level.

Abstract

Student errors in solving numeracy problems often stem not only from cognitive limitations but also from low metacognitive awareness regarding the planning, monitoring, and evaluation of thought processes. This study aimed to describe the metacognition levels of fifth-grade students at State Elementary School Gunung Sunda, as well as the types and stages of errors committed—based on Newman's Procedure—at each metacognition level. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed, involving three subjects selected purposively to represent high, medium, and low metacognition categories, determined through the triangulation of observations, interviews, and test answer sheets. The results indicate that the distribution of student metacognition was dominated by the low category. The student with high metacognition committed only a minor encoding error, with no errors at other stages. The student with medium metacognition exhibited inconsistent patterns: active monitoring but incomplete evaluation on one problem, and cumulative errors across five stages on another problem due to a reading error. The student with low metacognition experienced all five types of Newman's errors, resulting from the simultaneous absence of the three metacognitive components.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find out how to improve the IPAS learning results of students in class IV of SD Negeri Labuang Baji II Makassar City through the implementation of the Team Games Tournament (TGT) learning model with the help of the plickers application. The type of research used in this research is Class Action Research (PTK) with a qualitative approach. The research subjects are teachers and class IV students with 21 students, consisting of 9 men and 12 women as well as a teacher. This research data analysis technique is observation, test and documentation. The results of teacher activity observation in cycle I are included in the adequate category and the results of teacher activity observation in cycle II are included in the good category. The results of student activity observation in cycle I are included in the sufficient category and the results of student activity observation in cycle II are included in the good category. IPAS learning results of students in cycle I with an average score below KKTP and included in the incomplete category while IPAS learning results of students in cycle II with an average score above KKTP and included in the completed category. From the research results, it is known that the TGT model with the help of plickers application can improve the learning results of IPAS students in class IV of SD Negeri Labuang Baji II.
