Abstract

Logical thinking is the process of drawing conclusions based on facts through systematic steps and relevant arguments. This ability can be developed through mathematics learning, especially in problem-solving. This study aims to describe the logical thinking profile of junior high school students in solving AKM numeracy problems in algebra content. The research employs a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. The research instruments consist of two AKM numeracy problems related to systems of linear equations in two variables (SPLDV) and number patterns, as well as a validated semi-structured interview guide. Data were collected through a logical thinking test and interviews to identify indicators of logical thinking, namely coherence in reasoning, argumentation ability, and conclusion drawing. The test was administered to 30 eighth-grade students from SMP Negeri 1 Genteng. The results showed that two students met all indicators of logical thinking. These students were able to understand the problem by clearly writing down important information using their own words. They planned their solutions logically, applying the elimination and substitution methods for SPLDV problems and identifying number patterns in different ways. Their problem-solving steps aligned with Polya’s stages: understanding the problem, planning, implementing, and reviewing. Both students wrote conclusions supported by logical reasoning.

Abstract

The abstract should describe clearly the content of paper, and should provide a brief introduction to the problem, objective of paper, followed by a statement regarding the methodology and a brief summary of results. Abstracts are written in a single paragraph, 10pt Book Antiqua, no more than 200 words. This study aims to explore students' creative thinking patterns in solving mathematics problems based on Computational Thinking (CT). CT is a thinking approach that involves decomposition, pattern recognition, abstraction, and algorithmic thinking, enabling students to solve problems systematically and efficiently. This research employs an exploratory qualitative method with purposive sampling of five twelfth-grade students at SMK Samudera Indonesia. Data were collected through problem-solving tests, observations, interviews, and worksheet analysis. The findings indicate that students with a high level of creative thinking can effectively apply CT concepts, particularly in decomposition and abstraction. Meanwhile, students with a moderate level of creative thinking still require examples and guidance in recognizing patterns and structuring solutions systematically. The main challenges identified include difficulties in understanding the fundamental concepts of sequences and series, reliance on formulas without deep comprehension, and a lack of confidence in trying different approaches. These findings suggest that incorporating Computational Thinking in mathematics learning can enhance students' creativity in problem-solving while also developing a more logical and systematic mindset.

Abstract

Ethnomathematics-based learning grounded in the Qur’an is highly essential for religious-based schools as a strategic step to optimize the learning process. One promising approach is the development of Qur’an-integrated mathematics teaching materials. Unfortunately, many of these developments end after a single trial, despite the necessity of periodic and systematic evaluations. This study aims to continue the previous development of a mathematics leaflet sourced from the Qur’an and enhanced with QR code integration, by further examining its effectiveness and practicality. This study employed a quantitative research method, using a set of four validated test items. The content of the inheritance problem used in the test was adjusted to align with the learning outcomes in the fiqh subject, particularly in the topic of inheritance distribution. In addition to the test, the instruments used to assess practicality included an observation sheet and a student response questionnaire. Students who are the subjects are at the junior high school / equivalent level, precisely in class VII. In terms of effectiveness, the test results showed an average class score of 78.3, with 100% of students achieving the minimum mastery criteria (KKM), categorized as "very good." Regarding practicality, the average score from the observation sheets was 3.86, falling into the “very good” category, while the average student response score was 4.66, also classified as “very good.” The teaching materials produced are categorized as effective and practical and can integrate Islamic mathematics learning media and modules.
