Abstract

The Industrial Revolution 4.0 changed the paradigm to student-centered and accelerated the development of digital learning media. YouTube video media is a digital technology learning media that allows interesting, concrete, and contemporary social studies learning by Generation Z. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of YouTube video media in social studies learning to increase student learning motivation. The research methodology used a quasi-experimental approach with a pretest and posttest design. The population in this study amounted to 75 students from class VIII of SMP Negeri 2 Badau, Belitung District, Indonesia. Sampling was done by cluster random sampling. A total of 50 students were selected using cluster random sampling. The experimental group (n=25) was given YouTube video media learning, while the control group (n=25) was given conventional media in image media. The research instrument was a validated learning motivation questionnaire. Hypothesis testing was carried out using t-tests, while the increase in learning motivation used the N-gain test. The research findings showed an increase in student learning motivation. The experimental group showed a higher increase in learning motivation than the control group. This shows that YouTube video media in social studies learning effectively increases students' learning motivation. The implication of this research shows that YouTube video media has the potential to increase learning motivation in social studies learning. Further research on the effectiveness of YouTube video media can help social studies teachers use YouTube optimally to increase student learning motivation.

Abstract

This study aims to examine “The Impact of the Presence of Universitas Jenderal Soedirman on Community Income in North Purwokerto District.” The research method employed was a qualitative approach. The population consisted of residents in North Purwokerto District, while the sample included boarding house owners in Grendeng Village. Data were collected through observation and interviews, using observation forms and questionnaires as research instruments. The results indicate that the presence of Universitas Jenderal Soedirman has brought positive impacts, such as increased business and employment opportunities, the concentration of economic activities, and the growth of various businesses including boarding houses, photocopy services, food stalls, coffee shops, grocery stores, laundry services, and other enterprises. On the other hand, negative impacts have emerged due to population growth and high levels of community activity. Population density can trigger various problems. Additionally, high mobility may lead to social issues and environmental consequences. The large number of students coming from outside Purwokerto, with diverse cultural backgrounds, makes it challenging for the local community to preserve their original culture.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of Baturraden Lokawisata on increasing income and socio-economic welfare for the surrounding community. Using a qualitative approach. The results showed that Baturraden Lokawisata became the main source of income for the local community. The income earned is used to fulfill daily needs, finance children's education, and other household needs. In addition to the economic impact, there is also a harmonious social relationship between locawisata managers. However, some respondents complained about the decline in income and hoped for innovation from tourism managers. Baturraden Tourism is proven to make a real contribution to the economic and social welfare of the community, but still requires development so that the benefits are more optimal.

Abstract

This study examines efforts to address unemployment in Pliken Village, Kembaran District, Banyumas Regency. Unemployment is one of the social problems that has broad impacts on community life, both economically and psychologically. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach, conducted through in-depth interviews with the Village Head and the Head of the Service Section as the main informants. The results show that the village government has implemented various community empowerment programs, including skills training, the establishment of MSME associations, the organization of joint markets, and collaboration with regional government agencies. These programs are considered effective in creating new job opportunities, increasing community income, and significantly reducing the unemployment rate. The main obstacles faced are limited budget allocations and the prioritization of poverty alleviation programs for the elderly. Therefore, a strategic approach to sustainable village economic development is required, based on local potential and the strengthening of institutions such as Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes) and village cooperatives. The findings emphasize the importance of the active role of the village government in building an independent and adaptive economic ecosystem as a long-term solution to unemployment problems.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of students of Universitas Jenderal Soedirman in community economic empowerment through their support for the growth of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the Grendeng area, North Purwokerto. The Grendeng area was selected due to its relatively high concentration of MSMEs and its geographical proximity to the Unsoed campus. This research employed a qualitative method through observation and in-depth interviews with MSME actors and students involved in related activities. The results indicate that the presence and activities of students in the area contribute to increased demand for MSME products, act as collaborative partners, and serve as promotional agents for MSME actors in sectors such as food businesses, photocopy services, boarding houses, and laundry services. These findings emphasize that students’ contributions can serve as a strategic and sustainable local economic force.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of implementing the Team-Assisted Individualization (TAI) cooperative learning model on the Geography learning outcomes of eleventh-grade students at SMA Negeri 5 Tana Toraja. The TAI model emphasizes learning in small heterogeneous groups, enabling active interaction among students in understanding the learning materials. This research employed a quantitative approach with an experimental method using a pretest–posttest control group design. The research subjects consisted of two classes, namely an experimental class and a control class, each consisting of 32 students. The experimental class received treatment through the implementation of the TAI cooperative learning model, while the control class was taught using conventional learning methods. The data collection techniques included learning outcome tests, observation, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted through normality and homogeneity tests as prerequisites for analysis, as well as comparison of the average scores of students’ learning outcomes. The results of the study indicate that the average learning outcomes of students in the experimental class were higher than those in the control class. These findings show that the implementation of the Team-Assisted Individualization (TAI) cooperative learning model has a positive effect on improving students’ Geography learning outcomes. The TAI model can be used as an alternative and effective learning model to enhance students’ activeness and learning outcomes in Geography learning.

Abstract

This research aims to develop a Google Sites-based learning media for Social Studies, specifically targeting ASEAN material, and to assess its effectiveness in enhancing students' critical thinking skills at MTsN 2 Ponorogo. The study was conducted as a Research and Development (R&D) project using the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). Data were collected through observation, interviews, and questionnaires, with validations from media and content experts. Results showed that the developed media was highly feasible, receiving an 85% score from content experts and 87% from media experts. The media received very positive feedback from both teachers (90%) and students (82.88%). Pretest and posttest comparisons revealed a significant improvement in students' critical thinking skills, supported by a T-test (p = 0.000 < 0.05) and an N-Gain score of 60.24%, classified as moderately effective. These findings suggest that Google Sites-based media is a valid and effective tool to enhance critical thinking in Social Studies education.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of using the case-based learning approach in Social Studies instruction. The sample was obtained using a simple random sampling technique. The study was conducted in 2025. The research population consisted of 30 seventh-grade students at SMPN 98 Jakarta in the 2025/2026 academic year, located in South Jakarta, Indonesia. The sampling technique used the Slovin formula to obtain a sample size of 30 seventh-grade students. This research employed an experimental method with a one-group pretest-posttest design. In addition, the researcher used a paired-sample t-test to test the hypothesis and the Shapiro–Wilk test to examine data normality. The results of the independent sample test showed that the two-tailed significance value was 0.000 < 0.05; therefore, based on the decision criteria for the paired-sample t-test, it can be concluded that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. The findings indicate that the case-based learning approach in Social Studies instruction has a positive effect on students’ learning outcomes. Moreover, beyond improving achievement, case-based learning also trains critical thinking and enhances student collaboration, as it provides learning experiences that strengthen conceptual understanding, make learning more contextual and participatory, and motivate students to be more engaged and active in the learning process.

Abstract

Geography instruction at the Junior High School (SMP) level often encounters obstacles regarding low student interest and comprehension due to material presentations that tend to be abstract and monotonous. This research aims to develop and test the effectiveness of "Wayground" gamification-based learning media in enhancing student interest and learning outcomes on the topic of Geographical Conditions and Interactions with Foreign Nations. The study employs the ADDIE development model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) with a One-Group Pretest-Posttest experimental design. The research subjects consisted of 40 eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 9 South Tangerang. The feasibility of the media was confirmed through expert validation (material and media experts), achieving a combined average score of 89.95%, categorized as "Very Feasible". Data analysis using a paired sample t-test indicated a significant improvement (Sig. 0.000) in student scores. The average score increased by 9.80 points, rising from 71.70 in the pretest to 81.50 in the posttest. These findings demonstrate that the use of Wayground media is effective in creating an interactive learning environment and tangibly increasing student interest and understanding of geography material.

Abstract

This paper aims to empirically analyze the use of augmented reality in student learning independence. Developments in educational technology have opened up opportunities for more interactive and student-centered learning, one of which is through the use of augmented reality. Learning independence is an important prerequisite for students in facing the demands of globalization, as it involves the ability to plan, monitor, and evaluate the learning process independently. Augmented reality offers an immersive and interactive learning experience that can encourage student self-regulation. This study is a literature review that examines empirical evidence related to the implementation of augmented reality in learning and its implications for independent learning. Augmented reality has the potential to facilitate independent learning if it is designed with a clear pedagogical approach. The findings of this empirical review indicate that the use of augmented reality in learning provides more interactive, contextual, and meaningful learning experiences for students. Augmented reality not only functions as an engaging visual medium but also encourages exploration, decision-making, and active involvement in the learning process. As a result, students using augmented reality tend to demonstrate higher levels of motivation, learning initiative, and the ability to manage learning tasks independently compared to conventional learning approaches.
