Abstract

Cosmetics are materials or preparations intended for use on the outside of the human body, one of which is facial whitening cream. Face whitening cream is part of cosmetics that contains a mixture of chemicals that are efficacious to reduce skin hyperpigmentation so that the skin looks brighter. One of the ingredients that should not be used in facial whitening creams is mercury. The addition of mercury in facial whitening creams has been prohibited if it exceeds 1mg/kg because it is very dangerous. Mercury content in facial whitening cream can be analyzed using Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry (AAS). The purpose of the study was to determine the mercury (Hg) and mercury (Hg) levels in facial whitening creams circulating in the Pasar Andir area of ​​Bandung. Research Methods: This study used a descriptive method. knowing the description of mercury (Hg) levels in whitening cream circulating in the Andir Bandung market area using the Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS) method. Based on the research results from eleven samples of whitening cream, 5 samples of whitening cream were positive for mercury and 6 samples were negative for mercury. In sample 001 obtained mercury levels of (0.05 mg/Kg), sample 005 (1361.50 mg/Kg), sample 006 (0.43 mg/Kg), sample 007 (0.02 mg/Kg), sample 010 (0.12 mg/Kg), and samples that did not contain mercury were found in samples 002, 003, 004, 008, 009 and 011, namely 1mg/Kg, namely (< 0.005 mg/Kg). Sample 005 contained 1361.50 mg/Kg of Mercury, so the cream sample did not meet the requirements for distribution according to the provisions of the Head of the BPOM.

Abstract

Despite of the blood products are crucial for health, it cannot be separated from the risks of bacterial contamination. The bacterial contamination obtained from collecting and processing blood processing. Various species of positive and negative Gram bacteria are known to be bacterial contaminants in blood products such as thrombocyte concentrate, packed red cell, dan whole blood. Therefore, it is essential to find an antibacterial compound that could inhibited the growth of bacterial contaminant in blood products. Chalcone compounds are known to become one of antibacterial since they have an unsaturated-ketone-group which acts as an antibacterial because it can damage the bacterial cell wall. The presence of hydroxyl group has important role for inhibiting bacterial contaminant growth as well. In this research, 4’-hydroxy-4-methoxychalcone was synthesized through the Claisen-Schmidt condensation reaction. The characterization of the chalcone compounds was carried out by mass spectroscopy using gas chromatography-mass spectroscopy (GC-MS) and identification of functional groups using Fourier transform infrared (FTIR). Bacterial contaminants from blood products that were used: Acinetobacter, Escherichia coli, Bacillus sp, and Staphylococcus aureus. In addition, Staphylococcus aureus from the American Type Culture Collection (ATCC) was used as comparing isolates. The antibacterial activity was analyzed by inhibition area method. The results showed that 4’-hydroxy-4-methoxychalcone successfully synthesized with the reaction product in yellow crystal formation with yield of 72,80%, relative purity 100%, and m/z 254. Antibacterial activity of chalcone compounds at various concentrations of 6.25 ppm; 12.5 ppm and 25 ppm against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria are still relatively weak because the percentage of inhibition ability achieved is below 50%.

Abstract

Ethyl p-methoxycinnamate (EPMC) isolated from the rhizome of kencur (Kaempferia galanga L) is being developed at STFI. Validation of EPMC analysis in blood plasma using High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) needs to be conducted to perform in vivo EPMC analysis. This study aims to validate the EPMC analysis method in blood plasma using HPLC. The HPLC column used is column C18, with methanol : phosphoric acid 70:30 and 80:20 mobile phases, a flow rate of 1.0 mL/min, and a maximum wavelength of 310 nm. The blood plasma used was the blood plasma of white male rats of the Wistar strain. EPMC was added to blood plasma and analyzed using HPLC. Parameter validation used is system suitability test, linearity, accuracy, precision, limit of detection (LOD), and limit of quantification (LOQ). The results showed that the optimum mobile phase for analyzing EPMS in plasma was methanol : phosphoric acid with a ratio of 70:30. Based on the validation, the linear regression was 0.998. In the accuracy test, the average value range for the percent recovery is 98% - 102%. In the precision test, the average value of the RSD percentage was 4.10% - 68.83%. The LOD value is 2.747 g/mL, and the LOQ value is 9.158 g/mL. Based on this research, it can be concluded that EPMC in blood plasma can be analyzed using KKKT with column C18 and mobile phase methanol : phosphoric acid 70:30.

Abstract

Ointment is a semisolid preparation that is soft, easy to apply, and is used as an external medicine on the skin and mucous membranes. Many researches related to preparations as wound medicine from natural ingredients have been carried out. One of the plants known to have medicinal properties is the sembung vine. This study aims to determine whether the extract and fraction of the leaves of sembung rambat can have the potential to treat cuts in male mice. This study aims to determine whether sembung rambat leaf extract ointment has the potential as a medicine for incisions in mice. the result is laboratory experimental study, where the activity of exracts and preparations of sembung rambat leaf oinmment as a wound medicine in male mice will be tasted using the maceration method, liquid-liquid extraction then this study measures the length of the wound on the first day, and the last day of treatment then the measurement result are analyzed and compared with each treatment group. The results showed that the extract with a concentration of 8% had the fastest cure rate in mice. Therefore, it can be concluded that sembung rambat leaf extract ointment has activity as an incision medicine in mice.

Abstract

Quality services will make patients feel satisfied. Patients will feel satisfied when they get services according to their needs and perceptions. Preliminary study regarding the level of patient satisfaction with waiting times for non-concoction prescription services, and it was found that 70% of patients were dissatisfied with the length of the waiting time. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of patient satisfaction with non-concoction prescription services and to analyze the relationship between waiting time for non-concoction prescription services and the level of satisfaction at the pharmacy installation of the North Cikampek Public Health Center. This research is an observational analytic study where data collection is done prospectively. The number of samples is 100 patients. The results in this study were mostly dissatisfied with 46 patients (46%). There is a relationship between waiting time for non-concoction prescription services and the level of satisfaction at the North Cikampek Public Health Center with a p-value of 0.000 (<0.05).

Abstract

Ice cubes are one of the food products that are well known by the public and are considered safe for consumption. The Aim of this research is to see the contamination of Coliform bacteria and the presence of Escherichia coli in ice cubes. Test methods used include: Coliform test and identification of Escherichia coli bacteria. The results showed that 2 of the 6 positive samples contained Coliform bacteria and Escherichia coli bacteria with MPN values ​​above the safe limit. The conclusion of this study is that the ice cubes used by the perpetrators around the city of Karawang have microbiological quality that is not suitable for consumption by the public and does not comply with the microbiological quality requirements of the Indonesian National Standard 01-3839-1996 regarding ice cubes, namely the Total Coliform Bacteria exceeds 0/ 100mL.

Abstract

Avocado leaves are a source of flavonoid active compounds, quercetin, and polyphenols that function as antioxidants. Flavonoids are secondary metabolites consisting of a group of polyphenolic compounds that have a pyron structure. Antioxidants are needed as an antidote to free radicals, antioxidants are needed by the body to neutralize free radicals and also to prevent damage caused by free radicals. This research was conducted using a pre-experimental method with a one-shot case study design using avocado leaf sampels growing in Blitar village and Tulungagung village. Determination of antioxidant activity testing was carried out using the DPPH method which was measured using a Uv-Vis spectrophotometer. The results of the extracts and the results of antioxidant activity obtained by the ethanol extract of avocado leaves in Blitar village with IC₅₀ value of 114.0851 ppm and Tulungagung village with IC₅₀ value of 99.2852 ppm. Blitar avocado leaf ethanol extract has an IC value of 114.0851 ppm and Tulungagung avocado leaf ethanol extract has an IC value of 99.2852 ppm. And it can be concluded that the ethanol extract of avocado leaves (Tulungagung) in the highlands has a stronger antioxidant activity than the ethanolic extract of avocado leaves (Blitar) in the lowlands.

Abstract

Liptint is one type of cosmetic lip color that is often used by women. The use of rhodamine B as a cosmetic coloring agent is prohibited by BPOM because Rhodamine B can be carcinogenic and spur the growth of cancer cells if used continuously. The purpose of this study was to determine the presence or absence of harmful substances Rhodamine B in Liptint circulating in the market Segiri Samarinda. Liptint samples were studied as many as 10 samples. Qualitative test of rhodamine B by thin layer chromatography observed under UV lamp light 254 nm. Based on the qualitative test results, samples that tested positive for Rhodamine B were samples A, B, C, E, G, H, I, and J. sample A, B have Rf value (0,907), sample G, I and J (0,802), sample C (0,789), sample H (0,828) and sample E (0,921) and raw Rf Rhodamin B (0,921) with pink spots when viewed vusual and orange spots stain when placed under UV light 254 nm. Quantitative test results from 10 samples, 9 samples tested positive for rhodamine B, namely samples A , B, C, E, F, G, H, I and J with an average content of 0,02%-0,5% w/w.

Abstract

Drug information service is one part of pharmaceutical services. Providing accurate and complete drug information can support the provision of good health services to the community because it can increase the efficacy and safety of drug use. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of patient satisfaction with drug information services at the Karawang District Health Center. This study is a descriptive study with a cross sectional design, to describe the level of patient satisfaction with DM drug information services at the Karawang Health Center. The number of samples was 176 patients. The results of this study, most of the patients were very satisfied with the drug information services provided by pharmacy officers at the Puskesmas.

Abstract

Asteraceae family plants contain flavonoid and phenolic compounds which have many benefits including inhibiting the xanthine oxidase enzyme, this enzyme plays a role in the conversion of purines into uric acid. Excessive production of uric acid in the body can cause deposition in the joints which causes pain and stiffness and swelling of the joints. Inhibition of this enzyme can normalize the amount of uric acid in the body and reduce its effects. This study aims to determine the potential of Asteraceae family plants with the best inhibition of the xanthine oxidase enzyme using the in silico method with molecular docking. The potential of the compound was assessed based on the parameters of bond energy values, inhibition constants, hydrogen bonds and amino acid residues. The size of the molecular docking center in this study x= 95,226; y= 47,251; z = 112,78 with volume x, y, and z = 40. The simulation results show that the test compound that has the best bond energy value (ΔG) is myrisetin of -10.58 kCal/mol. In general, from the research results, myrisetin compounds contained in the asteraceae family of chrysanthemum plants are compounds that have the potential to be further tested in vitro or in vivo as inhibitors of the xanthine oxidase enzyme.
