Abstract

Crescent sighting is fundamental to determining the beginning of the Hijri month, making it crucial and requiring careful decision-making or determination, as it relates to worship. The open and public sighting process allows anyone, including non-Muslims, to witness it, necessitating clear rules for making decisions regarding crescent sighting. The research method used in this study isLiterature Research or literature research using descriptive analysis and Fazlurrahman's Double Movement theory approach. In the book Fathul Mu'in by Zainuddin al-Malibary, it is explained that news conveyed by non-Muslims regarding the crescent moon is the same as a judge's decision. Testimony regarding the crescent moon made by non-Muslims cannot be accounted for by witnesses because they do not have the power and authority over Muslims, as this relates to Islamic worship. Non-Muslims can still report and provide information regarding the presence of the crescent moon, but cannot be used as witnesses to swear an oath before a judge.

Abstract

The visibility of the crescent moon is a crucial factor in the crescent moon sighting (rukyatul hilal) to determine the beginning of the lunar month. Ideally, crescent moon observations should be conducted in a location with a clean and transparent atmosphere, but these conditions are often lacking in coastal areas affected by seawater evaporation. This study aims to analyze the effect of seawater evaporation on crescent moon visibility at Loang Baloq Beach, Mataram City, one of the official crescent moon sighting locations in West Nusa Tenggara Province. This study uses a field research method (field research) with a qualitative approach. Data were obtained through observation, interviews, documentation, and meteorological data from the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) covering evaporation, air humidity, air pressure, and reports of the results of the crescent moon sighting. The results showed that the rate of seawater evaporation at Loang Baloq Beach is relatively high, ranging from 123–169 mm per month, with an average atmospheric humidity of 84.5%. This condition increases the content of water vapor and atmospheric aerosols, which causes a decrease in sky transparency and a decrease in the contrast of the crescent moon against the background of the twilight sky. This relationship forms a series of processes, including seawater evaporation, increased atmospheric water vapor, increased air humidity, decreased sky transparency, reduced crescent moon contrast, and decreased chances of successful sighting. This study concludes that seawater evaporation is one of the atmospheric factors that contribute to the visibility of the crescent moon in coastal areas, although it is not the only determining factor in the success of the observation

Abstract

Mandar weaving is a cultural heritage that has important economic and social value for the people of Onang Village, Majene Regency, West Sulawesi Province. However, the yarn winding process that still uses traditional tools causes various problems, such as low work comfort, physical complaints due to non-ergonomic working positions, and low production process efficiency. This community service activity aims to improve the understanding and skills of weavers in applying ergonomic principles and the use of more environmentally friendly yarn winding tools. The method of implementation of the activity is carried out through the stages of preparation, socialization, training, demonstration, mentoring, and evaluation. The activity involved the Mandar Weaving artisan group in Onang Village as the main partner. The results of the activity showed an increase in participants' understanding of the importance of ergonomics in weaving activities, the ability to operate modified yarn winding tools, and increased awareness of the use of environmentally friendly materials. In addition, the application of ergonomic yarn winding tools provides benefits in the form of increased work comfort and efficiency of the yarn winding process. Abstract

The family is the most fundamental social institution, playing a crucial role in shaping the quality of individuals and the civilization of society. However, amidst the development of contemporary society, families face various challenges, such as increasing divorce rates, domestic violence, and a weakening of the fulfillment of rights and obligations between family members. These conditions demonstrate the importance of strengthening family values rooted in Islamic teachings. This study aims to comparatively analyze the thoughts of classical and contemporary exegetes regarding the concept of family peace, mawaddah, and raḥmahas a foundation for building a harmonious Islamic family. This research is library research with a thematic interpretation approach (maudhu'i). Primary data sources consisted of the Qur'an and classical and contemporary commentaries, particularly the interpretations of al-Qurthubi, Ibn Kathir, and the thoughts of Quraish Shihab. Secondary data were obtained from books, journal articles, and various relevant literature. The research results show three main findings. First, the Qur'an uses several terminologies to describe the concept of family, such asahl, poison, ‘asyīrah, and arḥām, which show various forms of kinship ties from the nuclear family to the wider social community. Second, classical and contemporary commentators have different emphases in interpreting the concept of peace, mawaddah, and raḥmah, but they all lead to the same goal: to create a harmonious family life full of love and affection. Third, peace, mawaddah, and raḥmah are the three main pillars of the Islamic family, which function to create a balance between rights and obligations, strengthen relations between family members, encourage conflict resolution through deliberation, and build family resilience based on the values of the Qur'an.

Abstract

Space is an important element in indigenous communities because it reflects cultural values, belief systems, and patterns of social life. This study aims to analyze indigenous community perceptions of sacred and profane spaces in the Beleq Gumantar Traditional Village, North Lombok Regency, identify the forms and meanings of spaces perceived as sacred or profane, and explain how these perceptions influence spatial utilization practices. The research employed a qualitative approach with a phenomenological method. Data were collected through field observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving traditional leaders, religious leaders, cultural custodians, and community members. Data analysis was conducted using the Miles and Huberman interactive model, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that the indigenous community has a clear perception of the distinction between sacred and profane spaces. Sacred spaces are associated with ritual activities, religious practices, and ancestral reverence, while profane spaces are used for social, economic, and domestic activities. These perceptions influence patterns of spatial utilization, accessibility, and customary regulations governing the use of space. The study also reveals that perceptions of sacred and profane spaces contribute to maintaining social order, preserving cultural identity, and sustaining traditional spatial systems despite the challenges posed by modernization. This research contributes to the understanding of spatial perception in indigenous communities and provides insights for cultural heritage preservation and culturally based spatial planning.

Abstract

Strengthening Elementary School Teachers' Competence in Developing Artificial Intelligence-Based Teaching Modules in the Kalisongo Elementary School Cluster. The rapid diffusion of generative artificial intelligence requires elementary school teachers to use digital tools not only as content generators, but also as pedagogical supports that must be critically verified and aligned with students' needs. This community service program aimed to strengthen teachers' competence in developing AI-based teaching modules in the Kalisongo Elementary School Cluster, Dau District, Malang Regency. The program was implemented through training, guided practice, mentoring, and reflective evaluation. Evaluation data were collected using participant questionnaires, observation, documentation, and product-oriented reflection. The questionnaire generated 24 responses. The results showed that 79.2% of respondents considered the training materials very useful, 70.8% considered them very relevant to teachers' needs, 91.6% rated the training methods as effective or very effective, and 66.7% reported being highly motivated to develop AI-based teaching modules after the training. The overall benefit of the program was rated very useful by 83.3% of respondents. These findings indicate that contextual, practice-oriented AI training can strengthen teachers' readiness to design teaching modules while maintaining pedagogical control over AI-generated outputs. Follow-up mentoring is needed to validate the modules and examine their classroom impact.
