Abstract

This community service-based research study aims to analyze the effectiveness of counseling in promoting behavioral change, as well as the potential effectiveness of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) counseling in preventing drug abuse among students at SMPN 8 Tipo, Palu City. This counseling program was implemented by the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) of Palu City for students identified as being at risk of drug abuse. The study employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design. The study sample consisted of 10 students. Data collection was conducted using a Likert scale questionnaire that measured risky drug abuse behavior, attitudes toward drugs, and coping skills. Data analysis was performed using a paired-sample t-test to compare scores before and after the intervention. The results of the study showed positive changes in all measured variables. Risky drug abuse behavior decreased by 43%, while attitudes toward drugs improved by 20% and coping skills increased by 33%. Statistically, the difference between the pretest and posttest was significant (p < 0.001). Additionally, observational results indicated improvements in students’ social behavior, such as increased discipline, communication, and engagement in positive activities. These findings suggest that the implementation of CBT counseling has potential as a preventive approach to reducing the risk of drug abuse among adolescents in school settings. The success of the program’s implementation was also supported by the involvement of the school, families, and counselors.

Abstract

Indonesian Schools Overseas (SILN) encounter difficulties when it comes to applying the Merdeka Curriculum, especially at the Indonesian School Riyadh (SIR) located in Saudi Arabia. Key challenges for Physical Education, Sport, and Health (PJOK) educators include limited human resources, inadequate infrastructure, and the need for cultural adaptation. This community service (PkM) initiative seeks to improve the skills of PJOK teachers at SIR via training in Project Based Learning (PjBL) that fits within the Merdeka Curriculum guidelines. The approach used involved assessing needs, preparing materials, providing theoretical instruction, conducting simulations, and gathering feedback. The event took place on September 29, 2024, at the Indonesian School Riyadh, with participation from two educators from FIKK Unesa, one PJOK instructor, and six student-teachers. Evaluation findings indicated excellent performance in all areas: materials (94%), organization (96%), facilities (90%), and instructor expertise (98%), culminating in an overall average of 95%. The results include publications in mass media and a poster registered with HKI. This PkM initiative has made a significant contribution to enhancing the abilities of PJOK teachers in applying PjBL to boost students' daily physical activity in accordance with the principles of the Merdeka Curriculum.

Abstract

Global uncertainty caused by financial crises, geopolitical conflicts, inflation, climate change, and digital disruption has significantly affected economic stability and sustainability worldwide. This study aims to analyze the role of Islamic economics in addressing global uncertainty through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) focusing on resilience, sustainability, and financial stability. The study applies the PRISMA approach by systematically identifying, screening, and analyzing relevant publications from international academic databases. The findings indicate that Islamic economics contributes to economic resilience through risk-sharing mechanisms, prohibition of speculative transactions, and integration with the real economic sector. Islamic financial instruments such as Islamic banking, sukuk, zakat, and waqf also play important roles in supporting sustainable development and strengthening social welfare during periods of economic instability. Furthermore, current research trends highlight the growing relevance of fintech syariah, digital transformation, and sustainable Islamic finance. However, research related to artificial intelligence, ESG integration, climate risk, and geopolitical uncertainty within Islamic economics remains limited. This study provides theoretical and practical contributions for developing a more resilient and sustainable economic system based on Islamic economic principles.

Abstract

The forest village communities assisted by Perum Perhutani KPH Mojokerto generally only sell corn in raw form, so the added value obtained is still relatively low. This encourages the need for innovation in processing corn into high-value products as an effort to empower and improve the welfare of forest village communities. This community service activity aims to increase community knowledge and skills in processing corn into an innovative drink called Corn Forest Drink as a sustainable productive business. The method used includes three stages, namely the pre-activity stage in the form of product trials and material preparation, the implementation stage in the form of socialization and demonstration of product making through video screenings, and the evaluation stage through a question-and-answer session. The activity was carried out on May 8, 2026, in Jatipandak Village, Sambeng District, Lamongan Regency with LMDH Jati Mulya assisted by Perum Perhutani KPH Mojokerto. The results of the activity showed that all participants gave a very positive response to the Corn Forest Drink product, both in terms of taste, appearance, and its economic potential. The processing process is considered simple and can be done using household equipment already owned by the community. This innovation has been proven to significantly increase the selling value of corn and open up productive business opportunities for forest village communities. This community service activity concluded that processing corn into Corn Forest Drink is an innovative and effective solution for encouraging economic empowerment of forest village communities based on local potential.

Abstract

Sedang Village, Banjar Munduk, Malang, Tabanan Regency, has great potential to be developed as a historical tourism village through the existence of the MBO Museum (Oemoem Headquarters). This museum preserves traces of the struggle of I Gusti Ngurah Rai and his troops, and symbolizes the role of the village community in supporting the independence revolution by providing protection and food logistics. The community service activities carried out by STISPOL Wira Bhakti Denpasar aim to increase historical literacy of the community, especially the younger generation, so that they understand the value of the struggle and local contributions to national history. The activity methods include historical education, interactive discussions, and training in managing museum narratives as tourist attractions. The results of the activities show an increase in public knowledge about the history of the struggle, a growing collective awareness to preserve local values, and the emergence of the idea of developing a history-based tourism village. The MBO Museum not only functions as an educational center, but also became the forerunner to the establishment of Kodam IX/Udayana, thus having strategic value in Indonesian military history. This activity concludes that historical literacy and strengthening the role of the MBO Museum can be the foundation for the development of Sedang Village, Banjar Munduk, Malang, as a sustainable historical tourism destination. With the support of the community and universities, this village has the potential to become a center for historical education as well as a new source of income through cultural and struggle-based tourism.

Abstract

National Paralympic Committee Indonesia (NPCI) East Java manages disability sports competitions across East Java Province. However, competition management faces three major challenges: (1) the absence of technology-based competition management systems; (2) limited understanding of disability classification among coaches and officials leading to frequent misplacement of athletes; and (3) infrequent competency enhancement activities for district/city NPCI coaches and officials. This community service (PkM) activity aimed to accompany coaches and officials from NPCI across East Java in using a website-based competition management system, implemented directly during the East Java Provincial Paralympic Championship (Peparprov II) 2024, June 13–17, 2024, at the Oentoeng Poedjadi Athletics Track, FIKK Universitas Negeri Surabaya. A total of 92 coaches and officials from 29 districts/cities participated actively. Evaluation of training quality using a 19-item instrument across four aspects showed an overall average of 4.49 (89.9%), categorized as very good, with presenter competence receiving the highest score (4.51; 90.3%). Website usability evaluation using 19 items across four dimensions showed an overall average of 4.12 (82.5%), categorized as good, with ease of use and content dimensions receiving the highest scores (4.15; 83.0%). Outcomes achieved include improved competencies of coaches and officials, successful implementation of the website system during Peparprov II, mass media publication, and a formal cooperation agreement between FIKK Unesa and NPCI East Java.

Abstract

Globalization has transformed education, communication, and employment sectors, demanding young generations to possess global competencies, particularly English proficiency. Nevertheless, many students and santri still perceive English merely as an academic subject rather than a strategic instrument for accessing broader educational and professional opportunities. This community service activity aimed to enhance the awareness, understanding, and motivation of students and santri regarding the importance of English in facing globalization and achieving international aspirations such as scholarships, overseas education, global networking, and career development. The activity was conducted through an educational seminar within the Institutional Internationalization program organized by Institut Agama Islam (IAI) Nurul Hakim, Lombok Barat, involving approximately 50 participants consisting of university students and santri. The implementation employed interactive lectures, discussions, experience sharing, and question-and-answer sessions. The materials emphasized the urgency of English in the global era, opportunities for international education, personal academic experiences, and practical strategies for improving English competence among young learners. The results demonstrated increased enthusiasm, awareness, and motivation among participants regarding the strategic role of English proficiency in responding to global challenges and pursuing future opportunities. Participants showed strong interest in scholarship opportunities, international education, and personal development through English language mastery. This activity indicates that educational seminars can serve as an effective approach to strengthening global awareness and fostering an international mindset among students and santri.

Abstract

The implementation of pro bono legal aid by the Law Office of Riswanto Lasdin S.H., M.H., CLA and Partners in Palu City is an effort to realize access to justice for marginalized communities. Using empirical juridical methods and a sociological approach to law, this study analyzes the impacts, obstacles, and solutions in the implementation of pro bono legal aid. The results show that pro bono services provide a significant multidimensional impact for vulnerable groups, including casual daily laborers, traditional fishermen, street vendors, female heads of families, and victims of the 2018 Palu earthquake and tsunami. Pro bono legal aid not only serves as a cost-saving measure but also as a transformative instrument that shifts clients' position from passive legal subjects to active, dignified participants in the judicial process. However, its implementation still faces systemic obstacles, including legal gaps in Law Number 18 of 2003 concerning Advocates and Government Regulation Number 83 of 2008, a limited scope of services, weak sanction mechanisms, and low public awareness. This study recommends comprehensive regulatory reform, the development of a systematic referral network, the development of digital platforms, and participatory legal counseling as strategic steps in optimizing the implementation of pro bono to ensure the principle of Equality Before The Law for all levels of society.

Abstract

Violence against women within the family remains a complex social issue in Indonesia, influenced by patriarchal culture and limited public understanding of gender equality in family law. This community service aims to internalize gender equality values through legal education in family law as a preventive effort against violence toward women. The methods used include legal counseling, participatory discussions, and community assistance in Penujak Village, Central Lombok Regency. The results indicate an increased public understanding of equal rights and obligations between spouses and greater legal awareness regarding women's protection. The implication of this activity is the formation of a more inclusive and gender-just mindset in family life. Therefore, the internalization of gender equality values can serve as a preventive strategy to reduce violence against women in society. The main output of this activity focuses on strengthening public legal literacy and establishing a collective awareness among villagers to independently prevent gender-based violence

Abstract

Principals are educational leaders who play a crucial role in building an effective, professional, and character-based work culture within the school environment. One of the characteristics that principals need to possess and strengthen is discipline, as this character influences the quality of school management, teacher performance, and the achievement of educational goals. However, various challenges in school management, such as suboptimal time management, consistent program implementation, and oversight of task implementation, indicate the need for efforts to strengthen the disciplined character of principals. One strategy that can be implemented is through transformational leadership training oriented towards increasing leadership capacity, exemplary behavior, motivation, and commitment to change. This activity aims to improve the understanding and ability of principals in applying the principles of transformational leadership as a means of strengthening the character of discipline. The training was conducted through a participatory approach that included material delivery, group discussions, case studies, self-reflection, and the development of follow-up plans. Participants were principals in Praya District who were from elementary school education levels. The results of this activity were an increased understanding of the concept of transformational leadership, a growing awareness of the importance of discipline as a core leadership value, and an increased ability to manage time, implement school programs consistently, and serve as role models for the school community. Furthermore, this activity can also encourage the development of a sustainable culture of discipline within the school environment through inspirational leadership practices oriented toward positive change.
