Abstract

The ability to count objects based on geometric shapes is a fundamental aspect of early numeracy that should be developed from an early age. However, in lower primary classrooms, instruction is often delivered abstractly without the support of concrete media, making it difficult for students to grasp the concept. This community service activity aims to describe the implementation and impact of using ice cream sticks as simple instructional aids to improve the ability to count objects based on geometric shapes among first-grade elementary students. This study employed a qualitative descriptive method through observation, documentation, student work analysis, and informal interviews. The activity was conducted at SDN 16 Kota Bima, involving 20 first-grade students. The results show that using ice cream sticks helps students recognize geometric shapes, count concretely, engage actively, and strengthen mathematical representation and communication skills. These findings suggest that simple teaching aids can serve as effective, engaging, and contextual numeracy tools aligned with the principles of the Merdeka Curriculum

Abstract

Waste management remains a major challenge in rural areas of Bali due to increasing household activities, tourism development, and changes in consumption patterns. These conditions generate complex social, economic, and environmental problems, particularly in villages with limited institutional capacity and community participation. Desa Blahkiuh, Badung Regency, Bali Province, faces similar challenges in achieving sustainable waste management. The Smart Village approach is considered a relevant strategy to integrate governance, community participation, social innovation, and appropriate technology in addressing local environmental issues. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Smart Village approach in strengthening a waste management system based on social, economic, and environmental dimensions in Desa Blahkiuh and its contribution to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This research employs a qualitative descriptive method with a case study approach, using in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation as data collection techniques. The findings indicate that the implementation of Smart Village enhances community participation, increases the economic value of waste through circular economy practices, and improves environmental quality at the village level. These results demonstrate that Smart Village–based waste management contributes to the achievement of SDGs, particularly Goal 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), Goal 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), and Goal 13 (Climate Action).

Abstract

Health education aims to change or influence human behavior individually, in groups, or in society, to enable them to be more independent in achieving healthy living goals. In this health education, a method is needed so that the message can be delivered as expected. The delivery method in this education is by using lectures, videos, and actions towards environmental cleanliness. With this activity, students are expected to be able to increase their knowledge of school environmental cleanliness such as disposing of trash in its place, being able to differentiate organic and inorganic waste, not scribbling on walls and tables, and consciously wanting to work together to clean the yard and classroom. The implementation of community service requires cooperation from various parties so that health education can be carried out not only once, but regularly to monitor the development of students' knowledge about environmental cleanliness in schools. In addition to lectures, videos and actions, the implementation or delivery of health education can also use educational games as media because with games, students can more easily understand, students also do not experience boredom in the delivery of the material.

Abstract

This article presents a comprehensive socio-legal analysis of a community legal empowerment program implemented in Kampung Aisandami, Teluk Duairi District, Teluk Wondama Regency, West Papua. Utilizing the Progressive Law paradigm and the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach, this intervention addresses multifaceted socio-legal crises in marginalized coastal regions: the disenfranchisement of civil rights due to unregistered births, the structural normalization of Domestic Violence (KDRT) within patriarchal customary frameworks, and the rise of juvenile delinquency involving inhalant abuse (Lem Fox). Through clinical legal education methodologies driven by a higher education institution (STIH Manokwari), the program successfully facilitated the issuance of birth certificates, restoring the state's recognition of minors' civil rights. Furthermore, legal socialization of Law No. 23 of 2004 was deployed to dismantle cultural barriers silencing KDRT victims. The intervention also tackled the legal vacuum surrounding inhalant abuse using restorative justice paradigms. Ultimately, this community service proves that decentralized legal clinics act as crucial catalysts in bridging the gap between positive law and public legal awareness, fostering legal certainty, utility, and justice in Indonesia's frontier regions.

Abstract

Violence against women and children is a human rights violation that requires serious and integrated action. The enactment of Law Number 12 of 2022 concerning Criminal Acts of Sexual Violence (UU TPKS) is a crucial legal instrument, but its effectiveness is often hampered by low understanding among grassroots communities. This community service activity aims to provide legal education and map the sociological challenges in protecting women and children in Wariori Indah Village, Masni District. The method used was legal counseling through a participatory approach involving interactive dialogue, observation, and focus group discussions with village officials and residents. The results of the activity indicated that the residents of Wariori Indah Village still face fundamental obstacles such as limited knowledge about the spectrum of sexual violence, a strong patriarchal culture that considers violence a private matter, and limited access to information and official complaint services. Through this counseling, there was an increase in collective awareness among residents regarding the importance of reporting through formal channels and the prohibition of resolving sexual violence cases through peaceful/customary channels. The conclusion of this service confirms that the protection of vulnerable groups requires ongoing synergy between educational institutions, village governments, and legal service institutions to create a village environment that is safe and responsive to the rights of women and children.

Abstract

Arowi Village in Manokwari Regency possesses abundant marine resource potential; however, the welfare of its fishermen remains hindered by administrative constraints and limited access to government assistance. Most traditional fishermen in this region do not yet possess legal vessel documents, which serve as the primary prerequisite for accessing fuel subsidies, insurance, and infrastructure assistance. This Community Service Program (PKM) aims to raise legal awareness and provide technical assistance through vessel measurement outreach for the issuance of Small Pas (E-Pas Kecil) certification. The method employed is a participatory approach involving face-to-face outreach, interactive discussions, and on-site vessel measurement demonstrations conducted by the team from the Class IV Manokwari Harbor Master and Port Authority Office (KSOP). The results show a significant increase in fishermen's understanding of the urgency of vessel legality in accordance with Law Number 17 of 2008 concerning Shipping. Of the 42 fishermen in attendance, 25 vessel units were successfully measured and had their administrative documents processed for the issuance of E-Pas Kecil. The outcomes of this service program provide legal certainty for fishermen, ensure shipping safety, and open accessibility to various sustainable coastal economic empowerment programs.

Abstract

The management of Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes) in Wirogunan Village, Kartasura, Sukoharjo, is still predominantly conducted using manual systems, with limited utilization of information technology, low digital literacy among village officials, and suboptimal legal and administrative accountability. This condition creates a gap between the demands of digital-based good governance and existing practices at the village level. This community service program aims to enhance the institutional capacity of BUMDes through the implementation of an integrated information system to strengthen legality, transparency, and the effectiveness of village business management. The method used is a participatory-empirical approach, including needs assessment, system design, hybrid implementation (offline and online training), and evaluation through pre-test and post-test. The results show a significant improvement in participants’ understanding, where the average pre-test score of 45% increased to 82% in the post-test. This indicates that the mentoring program effectively improves digital literacy, legal awareness, and governance quality of BUMDes. The program contributes to the development of a digital-based BUMDes governance model that is more transparent, accountable, and sustainable.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology has significantly expanded public access to internet-based services; however, it has simultaneously increased exposure to cybercrime risks, particularly online fraud, which is increasingly affecting rural communities. This community service program aims to enhance legal and digital literacy among residents in preventing cybercrime in Ngalang Village, Gedangsari Sub-district, Gunungkidul Regency. The program employs a participatory-educational approach, incorporating legal awareness sessions, interactive discussions based on real case studies, simulations for identifying cybercrime patterns, and practical training on preventive measures and reporting mechanisms. Evaluation was conducted using pre-test and post-test instruments to assess participants’ level of understanding. The results indicate a significant improvement in legal literacy and participants’ ability to recognize and anticipate various forms of online fraud and cybercrime. These findings demonstrate that community-based legal education is an effective preventive strategy in addressing digital crime. Accordingly, this program contributes to strengthening legal awareness and enhancing the resilience of rural communities against cyber threats in the digital era.
