Abstract

Abstrak Motivasi belajar merupakan faktor penting yang memengaruhi keberhasilan siswa dalam pembelajaran matematika, khususnya pada jenjang Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan (SMK). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan motivasi belajar matematika siswa SMK ditinjau dari gender. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif dengan dukungan data kualitatif. Subjek penelitian terdiri atas 20 siswa kelas XI Akuntansi di salah satu SMK di Kabupaten Garut, yang terdiri dari 10 siswa laki-laki dan 10 siswa perempuan. Data dikumpulkan melalui angket motivasi belajar matematika yang disusun berdasarkan lima indikator, yaitu minat terhadap mata pelajaran, ketekunan dalam belajar, usaha untuk berprestasi, kebutuhan untuk berhasil, dan pengaruh lingkungan sosial, serta wawancara sebagai data pendukung. Data angket dianalisis menggunakan teknik persentase, sedangkan data wawancara dianalisis secara tematik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa motivasi belajar matematika siswa laki-laki dan perempuan berada pada kategori kuat pada seluruh indikator. Namun demikian, terdapat perbedaan kecenderungan, di mana siswa laki-laki lebih dominan pada aspek minat, ketekunan, kebutuhan untuk berhasil, dan pengaruh lingkungan sosial, sedangkan siswa perempuan lebih menonjol pada aspek usaha untuk berprestasi. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa motivasi belajar matematika dipengaruhi oleh karakteristik gender yang berbeda. Kata kunci: Motivasi Belajar, Matematika, Gender, Siswa SMK Abstract Learning motivation is a crucial factor influencing student success in mathematics, particularly at the Vocational High School (SMK) level. This study aims to describe vocational high school students' mathematics learning motivation from a gender perspective. The study employed a descriptive approach supported by qualitative data. The subjects were 20 11th-grade Accounting students at a vocational high school in Garut Regency, comprising 10 boys and 10 girls. Data were collected through a mathematics learning motivation questionnaire structured around five indicators: interest in the subject, persistence in learning, striving for achievement, need for success, and social influence. Interviews served as supporting data. The questionnaire data were analyzed using percentage analysis, while the interview data were analyzed thematically. The results showed that both male and female students' mathematics learning motivation was strong across all indicators. However, there were differences in tendencies, with male students being more dominant in the aspects of interest, persistence, need for success, and social influence, while female students were more prominent in the aspect of striving for achievement. These findings suggest that mathematics learning motivation is influenced by different gender characteristics.  Keywords: Learning Motivation, Mathematics, Gender, Vocational High School Students

Abstract

Abstrak Minat belajar merupakan aspek afektif yang krusial dalam menentukan keberhasilan siswa memahami konsep matematika. Namun, fenomena di lapangan memperlihatkan tantangan terkait keterlibatan siswa akibat metode pembelajaran yang kurang variatif serta tingginya intensitas penggunaan gawai untuk bermain game. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan profil minat belajar matematika siswa kelas VIII yang dikaitkan dengan preferensi kebiasaan bermain game melalui implementasi media ular tangga interaktif berbasis Canva. Metode penelitian menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kuantitatif dengan subjek penelitian sebanyak 29 siswa kelas VIII di salah satu SMP di Kabupaten Garut. Pengumpulan data dilakukan menggunakan angket minat belajar, angket profil game, dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa setelah intervensi media, data minat belajar siswa terdistribusi pada kategori sedang (55,17%) dan tinggi (44,83%), tanpa adanya siswa pada kategori rendah. Profil game siswa didominasi oleh game kompetitif (Free Fire dan Mobile Legends) dengan tipe pemain yang berimbang antara Solo Player (51,7%) dan Squad Player (48,3%). Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa media ular tangga berbasis Canva mampu memfasilitasi kebutuhan visual dan interaksi sosial siswa, sehingga berkontribusi positif terhadap terbentuknya disposisi minat belajar yang baik pada pembelajaran matematika..   Kata kunci: Canva, Gamifikasi, Media Pembelajaran, Minat Belajar, Ular Tangga   Abstract Learning interest is a crucial affective aspect in determining students' success in understanding mathematical concepts. However, phenomena in the field show challenges related to student engagement due to less varied learning methods and the high intensity of gadget use for gaming. This study aims to describe the profile of mathematics learning interest of grade VIII students associated with gaming habit preferences through the implementation of Canva-based interactive snakes and ladders media. The research method used a quantitative descriptive approach with 29 grade VIII students as subjects at a junior high school in Garut Regency. Data collection was carried out using learning interest questionnaires, game profile questionnaires, and interviews. The results showed that after the media intervention, students' learning interest data were distributed in the medium (55.17%) and high (44.83%) categories, with no students in the low category. The students' game profile was dominated by competitive games (Free Fire and Mobile Legends) with a balanced player type between Solo Player (51.7%) and Squad Player (48.3%). These findings indicate that Canva-based snakes and ladders media are able to facilitate students' visual needs and social interactions, thereby contributing positively to the formation of a good learning interest disposition in mathematics learning.   Keywords: Canva, Gamification, Learning Media, Learning Interest, Snakes and Ladders

Abstract

Abstrak Pembelajaran matematika SD, khususnya geometri, kerap menyulitkan siswa akibat rendahnya kemampuan visualisasi spasial. Penelitian ini menguji efektivitas model Discovery Learning berbantuan media BASUKI-MAT terhadap kemampuan visualisasi spasial siswa SD. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan desain One Group Pretest-Posttest pada 40 siswa SD 1 Getas Pejaten tahun ajaran 2025/2026. Instrumen pretest dan posttest digunakan untuk pengumpulan data, yang kemudian dianalisis menggunakan uji normalitas serta N-Gain. Hasil uji normalitas Shapiro Wilk menunjukkan bahwa data berdistribusi normal. Sedangkan, hasil uji N-Gain sebesar 56,71% menempatkan pada kategori cukup efektif, didukung kenaikan rata-rata pada setiap indikator. Temuan ini memberikan kontribusi praktis bagi guru dalam merancang pembelajaran yang lebih interaktif. Kesimpulannya, model Discovery Learning berbantuan media BASUKI-MAT terbukti cukup efektif digunakan sebagai strategi alternatif untuk mengoptimalkan kemampuan visualisasi spasial matematika siswa SD secara berkelanjutan dan optimal. Kata kunci: model Discovery Learning, media BASUKI-MAT, kemampuan visualisasi spasial, Matematika. Abstract Elementary geometry often challenges students due to weak spatial visualization skills. This study examines the effectiveness of the Discovery Learning model assisted by BASUKI-MAT media in enhancing elementary students’ mathematical spatial visualization. Employing a quantitative one-group pretest-posttest design, data were collected from 40 students at SD 1 Getas Pejaten during the 2025/2026 academic year. Pretest and posttest instruments measured skill development, with data analyzed using normality tests and N-Gain scores. Shapiro-Wilk results confirmed normally distributed data. The N-Gain score reached 56.71%, indicating moderate effectiveness, supported by consistent improvement across all indicators. These findings offer practical insights for teachers designing interactive mathematics instruction. Conclusively, Discovery Learning integrated with BASUKI-MAT serves as a moderately effective strategy to sustainably improve students’ spatial visualization abilities in mathematics. Abstract

Abstrak Penelitian tersebut bertujuan untuk meneliti pengaruh penerapan model pembelajaran berbasis Problem Based Learning terintegrasi STEM (PBL-STEM) pada kemampuan literasi matematis siswa pada materi statistika kelas VII di SMPN 1 Pajarakan. Studi tersebut menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan desain quasi experiment berupa Pretest-Posttest Nonequivalent Control Group Design. Subjek penelitian mencakup dua kelas, yakni kelas eksperimen yang mendapatkan pembelajaran PBL-STEM serta kelas kontrol yang menerapkan metode konvensional. Cara pengumpulan data meliputi tes, observasi, serta dokumentasi, yang kemudian diolah dan dianalisis melalui pengujian normalitas, homogenitas, perhitungan N-Gain, dan uji Independent Sample t-test. Hasil riset menunjukkan munculnya perbedaan yang signifikan antara kedua kelompok dengan skor signifikansi 0,000 < 0,05. Nilai mean posttest kelompok perlakuan lebih besar daripada kelompok pembanding, disertai peningkatan yang lebih baik. Maka, pendekatan PBL-STEM terbukti berhasil mengembangkan kemampuan literasi matematis siswa secara secara lebih optimal dan kontekstual. Kata kunci: PBL-STEM, literasi matematis, statistika, quasi experiment, pembelajaran matematika Abstract The study aims to investigate the effect of implementing a Problem-Based Learning model integrated with STEM (PBL–STEM) on students’ mathematical literacy skills in statistics for Grade VII students at SMPN 1 Pajarakan. This research uses a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental design in the form of a Pretest–Posttest Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The research subjects consist of two classes, namely an experimental class that received PBL–STEM instruction and a control class that was taught using conventional methods. Data collection techniques include tests, observations, and documentation, which are then processed and analyzed using normality tests, homogeneity tests, N-Gain calculations, and the Independent Sample t-test. The findings show a significant difference between the two groups, with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05. The mean posttest score of the experimental group is higher than that of the control group, along with a greater improvement. Therefore, the PBL–STEM approach is proven to effectively enhance students’ mathematical literacy skills in a more optimal and contextual way. Abstract

Abstrak Batik Seluang Mudik merupakan salah satu kain batik khas Kabupaten Sarolangun, Provinsi Jambi, yang menampilkan motif utama berupa ikan seluang (Rasbora sp.) yang bermigrasi melawan arus sungai. Motif ini terinspirasi dari fenomena alam sungai-sungai di Sarolangun, khususnya perilaku musiman ikan seluang yang berenang ke hulu untuk bertelur. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengeksplorasi konsep-konsep matematika yang termuat dalam motif Batik Seluang Mudik Sarolangun Jambi. Pendekatan yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan metode etnografi. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa motif batik tersebut memuat berbagai konsep matematika, antara lain: (1) geometri transformasi yang meliputi translasi, refleksi, rotasi, dan dilatasi; (2) konsep simetri dan pola berulang; (3) karakteristik fraktal dalam pengulangan motif; (4) geometri bidang seperti segitiga, elips, dan kurva lengkung; serta (5) konsep proporsi dan perbandingan dalam komposisi warna. Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa Batik Seluang Mudik berpotensi besar sebagai media pembelajaran matematika yang kontekstual dan berbasis kearifan lokal.   Kata kunci: Etnomatematika, Batik Seluang Mudik, Sarolangun, Geometri Transformasi, Budaya Lokal Abstract Seluang Mudik Batik is one of the traditional batik fabrics originating from Sarolangun Regency, Jambi Province, Indonesia. Its main motif depicts the seluang fish (Rasbora sp.) migrating upstream against the river current. This motif is inspired by a natural phenomenon commonly observed in the rivers of Sarolangun, particularly the seasonal behavior of seluang fish swimming upstream to spawn.This study aims to explore the mathematical concepts embedded in the motifs of Seluang Mudik Batik from Sarolangun, Jambi. The research employed a qualitative approach using an ethnographic method. The findings reveal that the batik motif contains various mathematical concepts, including: (1) geometric transformations such as translation, reflection, rotation, and dilation; (2) symmetry and repeating patterns; (3) fractal characteristics reflected in the recurring motifs; (4) plane geometry concepts, including triangles, ellipses, and curved forms; and (5) proportional and comparative relationships in color composition.These findings indicate that Seluang Mudik Batik has significant potential as a contextual mathematics learning resource rooted in local cultural wisdom, enabling students to connect mathematical concepts with their cultural environment. Abstract

Abstrak Pembelajaran matematika berbasis budaya lokal menghubungkan konsep matematis dengan pengalaman sehari-hari peserta didik. Penelitian ini menelusuri unsur etnomatematika pada motif Batik Sarolangun dan keterkaitannya dengan konsep geometri untuk pembelajaran sekolah. Pendekatan kualitatif dengan desain etnografi digunakan, dengan data dikumpulkan melalui observasi partisipatif, wawancara mendalam, dan dokumentasi di dua sentra Batik Sarolangun. Tiga pengrajin senior dipilih secara purposif sebagai informan. Analisis data mengikuti model Spradley (domain, taksonomi, komponen, tema budaya), sementara identifikasi konsep geometri dilakukan melalui analisis visual bentuk, pola pengulangan, simetri, dan transformasi motif. Hasil menunjukkan delapan motif utama memuat bangun datar (lingkaran, elips, segitiga, trapesium, belah ketupat, setengah lingkaran, persegi panjang) serta transformasi geometri (translasi, refleksi, rotasi, dilatasi). Penelitian ini menegaskan Batik Sarolangun sebagai sumber belajar geometri berbasis budaya lokal dan menyediakan dasar empiris untuk pengembangan bahan ajar dan strategi pembelajaran yang kontekstual di SD dan SMP. Abstract Culture-rooted mathematics instruction offers a contextual route to bridging mathematical ideas with learners' lived realities. The present study seeks to investigate ethnomathematical features embedded in Sarolangun Batik motifs and to map the geometric concepts contained therein onto school mathematics content. A qualitative approach with an ethnographic design was adopted. Data were gathered through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation at two Sarolangun Batik production centres in Sarolangun Regency, Jambi Province. Three senior batik artisans were selected purposively, each with at least ten years of crafting experience and full mastery of the regional motif repertoire. Spradley's analytical stages domain, taxonomic, componential, and cultural theme analysis—guided the data interpretation. Geometric concepts were identified through systematic visual analysis of shape, repetition, symmetry, and transformation patterns. The findings reveal that eight principal motifs of Sarolangun Batik encode plane-geometry concepts (circles, ellipses, triangles, trapezoids, rhombi, semicircles, rectangles) and transformation-geometry concepts (translation, reflection, rotation, and dilation). These results suggest that Sarolangun Batik holds considerable promise as an authentic, contextual ethnomathematical resource for teaching plane figures, symmetry, and geometric transformations at the elementary and lower-secondary levels. Abstract

Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji pengaruh dan menilai efektivitas penerapan model pembelajaran inquiry – STEM terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa pada materi bangun ruang. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain nonequivalent control group design. Subjek penelitian terdiri atas dua kelompok, yaitu kelompok eksperimen dan kelompok kontrol. Masing-masing kelompok berjumlah 25 siswa sehingga total sampel penelitian sebanyak 50 siswa. Pengumpulan data dilakukan menggunakan instrumen tes kemampuan berpikir kritis dalam bentuk pretest dan posttest. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata skor pretest pada kelompok eksperimen sebesar 54,52, sedangkan pada kelompok kontrol sebesar 53,56. Hasil tersebut menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan awal kedua kelompok relatif setara. Setelah perlakuan yang diberikan, rata-rata skor posttest pada kelompok eksperimen meningkat menjadi 87,28, sedangkan kelompok kontrol mencapai 72,20. Hasil uji hipotesis menggunakan uji t (independent sampel t test) menunjukkan nilai signifikansi sebesar 0,000 < 0,05, sehingga terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan dari penerapan model pembelajaran inquiry – STEM terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa. Selain itu, nilai N-Gain pada kelompok eksperimen sebesar 0,72 berada pada kategori tinggi. Hasil tersebut menunjukkan bahwa model pembelajaran inquiry–STEM efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa. Kata kunci: inquiry–STEM, berpikir kritis, bangun ruang Abstract This study aims to examine the impact and evaluate the effectiveness of implementing the inquiry-based STEM learning model on students’ critical thinking skills in the context of three-dimensional shapes. This study employs a quantitative approach using a nonequivalent control group design. The research subjects consisted of two groups: an experimental group and a control group. Each group comprised 25 students, resulting in a total sample size of 50 students. Data collection was conducted using a critical thinking skills test administered as a pretest and posttest. The results showed that the average pretest score for the experimental group was 54.52, while that of the control group was 53.56. These results indicate that the initial abilities of both groups were relatively comparable. After the intervention, the average posttest score in the experimental group increased to 87.28, while the control group reached 72.20. The results of the hypothesis test using the t-test (independent samples t-test) showed a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, indicating a significant effect of the inquiry–STEM learning model on students’ critical thinking skills. Furthermore, the N-Gain value in the experimental group of 0.72 falls into the high category. Abstract

Abstrak Kemampuan komunikasi matematis merupakan salah satu kompetensi yang sangat penting dalam pembelajaran matematika,  namun masih tergolong rendah pada siswa siswa SMP. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan model pembelajaran yang mampu mendorong keterlibatan aktif siswa dan didukung media pembelajaran yang interaktif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji pengaruh model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning (PBL) berbantuan media Wordwall terhadap kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa. Melalui penerapan masalah kontekstual dan penggunaan media interaktif, siswa diharapkan mampu mengungkapkan ide matematis, memahami simbol, serta menafsirkan argumen matematika dengan baik. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan  desain pre-eksperimental one group pretest-posttest. Subjek penelitian terdiri atas 31 siswa kelas VII di salah satu SMP swasta di Kecamatan Peundeuy. Data dikumpulkan melalui tes kemampuan komunikasi matematis sebanyak lima butir soal. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa sebelum dan sesudah diterapkan model PBL berbantuan Wordwall (sig. = 0,000 < 0,05), dengan rata-rata N-Gain sebesar 0,52 yang termasuk dalam kategori sedang. Hasil tersebut menunjukkan bahwa model PBL berbantuan media Wordwall efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa SMP. Therefore, a learning model that encourages student’s active involvement and is supported by interactive learning media is needed. This study aimed to examine the effect of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by Wordwall media on students' mathematical communication skills. Through the implementation of contextual problems and the use of interactive media, students are expected to be able to express mathematical ideas, understand symbols, and interpret mathematical arguments effectively. This research employed a quantitave approach with a pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design. The subjects consisted of 31 seventh-grade students at a private junior high school in Peundeuy District. Data were collected through a mathematical communication skills test consisting of five essay questions. The results showed a significant difference between students’ mathematical communication skills before and after the implementation of the PBL model assisted by Wordwall media (sig. = 0,000 < 0,05), with an average N-Gain score of 0,52 categorized as moderate. Abstract

Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis peningkatan kemampuan representasi matematis siswa melalui penerapan model Problem Based Learning (PBL) berbasis STEM pada materi fungsi dan grafik. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain quasi experiment tipe one-group pretest-posttest design. Sampel penelitian terdiri atas 31 siswa kelas X SMA Negeri 1 Percut Sei Tuan yang dipilih menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui tes kemampuan representasi matematis, observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan kemampuan representasi matematis siswa, ditunjukkan oleh rata-rata nilai pretest sebesar 2,355 yang meningkat menjadi 3,625 pada posttest. Hasil uji N-Gain memperoleh nilai rata-rata sebesar 0,784 dengan kategori tinggi. Temuan tersebut menunjukkan bahwa model PBL berbasis STEM efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan representasi matematis siswa pada materi fungsi dan grafik. Kata Kunci: Problem Based Learning, STEM, Kemampuan Representasi Matematis Abstract This study aimed to analyze the improvement of students’ mathematical representation abilities through the implementation of a STEM-based Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on function and graph material. The study employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental method with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The sample consisted of 31 tenth-grade students at SMA Negeri 1 Percut Sei Tuan selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through mathematical representation ability tests, observations, interviews, and documentation. The results indicated an improvement in students’ mathematical representation abilities, as shown by the increase in the average pretest score from 2.355 to 3.625 in the posttest. Furthermore, the N-Gain test result showed an average score of 0.784, categorized as high. These findings indicate that the STEM-based PBL model is effective in improving students’ mathematical representation abilities in function and graph material. Abstract

Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa kelas VIII MTs N 2 Sarolangun pada materi pecahan serta mengidentifikasi kesulitan yang dialami siswa dalam setiap tahapan pemecahan masalah. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif dengan subjek penelitian siswa kelas VIII yang dipilih berdasarkan kategori kemampuan tinggi, sedang, dan rendah. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui tes uraian dan wawancara. Analisis data meliputi reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa dengan kemampuan tinggi mampu memahami masalah, menyusun strategi, melaksanakan perhitungan, dan memeriksa kembali jawaban dengan baik. Siswa dengan kemampuan sedang dapat memahami masalah dan menentukan strategi, tetapi masih kurang teliti dalam perhitungan serta jarang memeriksa kembali hasil akhir. Sementara itu, siswa dengan kemampuan rendah mengalami kesulitan dalam memahami soal, menentukan langkah penyelesaian, dan melakukan operasi hitung pecahan. Kesalahan yang ditemukan meliputi kesalahan konsep, prosedural, dan ketelitian. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa masih bervariasi sehingga diperlukan pembelajaran yang membiasakan siswa mengikuti tahapan pemecahan masalah secara sistematis. Kata kunci: Pemecahan Masalah Matematis, Pecahan, siswa kelas VIII, penelitian kualitatif. Abstract This study aimed to analyze the mathematical problem-solving abilities of eighth-grade students at MTs N 2 Sarolangun on fraction material and to identify the difficulties experienced by students at each stage of problem solving. The study employed a qualitative descriptive approach involving students categorized into high, medium, and low ability levels. Data were collected through essay tests and interviews. The data analysis techniques included data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that students with high ability were able to understand problems, develop appropriate strategies, perform calculations correctly, and recheck their answers systematically. Students with medium ability generally understood the problems and determined suitable strategies but were less accurate in calculations and rarely reviewed their final answers. Meanwhile, students with low ability experienced difficulties in understanding problems, determining solution steps, and performing fraction operations correctly. The common errors found included conceptual, procedural, and calculation accuracy errors. In conclusion, students’ mathematical problem-solving abilities varied significantly; therefore, learning activities that train students to follow systematic problem-solving stages are needed to improve their abilities.
