Abstract

In the era of globalization, marked by the rapid development of technology, various innovations continue to emerge, including in the education sector. The application of digital transformation in education involves the use of information and communication technology to impact the improvement of learning quality, expand access to learning resources, and create a more interactive and collaborative learning environment. Thus, the education sector has become one of the most responsive fields to technological advancements. This study developed a learning media in the form of comics, named "Komlabil," using i-Spring Suite software on the material of numerical patterns. This media was designed following the PLOMP development model which includes five main stages: Preliminary Investigation, Design, Realization/Construction, Test, Evaluation and Revision, and Implementation. The research subjects were 27 eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Bulawa. This study revealed that digital comic media has been declared valid and practical. Through evaluation by media and material expert validators, an average score of 3.27 was obtained from the media expert evaluation and 3.34 from the material expert, both of which fall into the valid category. This indicates that the developed digital comics meet the expected quality standards, both in design and material content, making it suitable to be used as a supporting tool in learning. The percentage of student and teacher responses obtained 92.37% with a strongly positive category and 89% with a practical category. Based on these findings, the developed learning media is considered suitable to be used in teaching and learning activities because it meets the predetermined criteria of validity and practicality. Thus, this learning media not only meets rigorous academic standards but also contributes significantly to improving the quality of the learning process.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the role of RME-based statistics HLT implementation in students' concept understanding ability at SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Kartasura class VIII in the odd semester of the 2024/2025 academic year. The method used was Didactical Design Research with a qualitative approach. The research focused on three research subjects, namely students with high (S1), medium (S2), and low (S3) concept understanding abilities. The results showed that the implementation of RME-based HLT contributed positively to students' understanding of statistics concepts. The learning process through the stages of HLT, namely emergent, model-for, model-of, and formal, facilitated students in building concept understanding gradually. S1 showed the ability to interpret data and relate it to real contexts well, S2 was able to understand basic concepts and apply them in similar problems, while S3 experienced an increase in understanding even though they still needed further guidance in applying concepts to more complex situations. This research indicates that the RME-based HLT is effective in facilitating the understanding of statistical concepts of students with different ability levels.

Abstract

Education is one of the points of Indonesia's SDGs which is stated in goal number 4. Mathematics is one of the subjects that contributes to the realizing national education goals. In the independent curriculum, the success of the learning process at school can be seen from the criteria for achieving learning objectives. In this article, we analyzed students’ mathematics learning outcomes using a multi predictor semiparametric regression approach and interpreted the results with Spline estimator. The results shows that the differences between the types of classes greatly influence outcomes in learning mathematics, where social classes experienced a decrease of 2.435 percent compared to science classes. To increase outcomes in learning mathematics, the percentage of learning motivation must be more than 88 percent. Apart from that, high or low IQ cannot determine whether students’ mathematics learning outcomes. Furthermore, by combining linear and nonlinear components in the model effectively, the overall accuracy based on the MAPE value is 7.87 percent, so that the model can be predict the actual value high accurately. Thus, the multi predictor semiparametric regression approach based on spline estimator can explain the mathematics learning outcomes model very well.

Abstract

This writing aims to understand how the Project-Based Learning (PJBL) model works to influence the mathematical thinking skills of class VIII students at the Darus Sholihin Labuhanbatu Islamic Boarding School. The research relies on a Pretest-Posttest Control Group design and quasi-experimental methodology. Two groups of sample students were: an experimental group that received teaching based on the PJBL model, and a control group that received teaching using traditional techniques. The results show that when compared with the control group, students taught using the PJBL paradigm experienced a significant increase in understanding of mathematical concepts. The PJBL model has a significant effect on students' understanding of mathematical concepts, according to statistical analysis using the T-Test, the significance number is 0.002, less than 0.05. As a result, the project-based learning approach can be considered as a successful substitute for strengthening students' mathematical thinking standards.

Abstract

Students' difficulties in understanding simple arithmetic concepts, such as addition and subtraction, are often caused by lack of concentration, being easily distracted, excessive use of gadgets, and minimal public facilities for social interaction. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study to understand this phenomenon in depth. The design thinking method is applied to design solutions, while effectiveness testing is carried out using a pretest-posttest one group design equipped with a semantic differential scale to measure student responses. The results of the study showed that conventional methods such as the use of LKS produced an average pretest score of 20 out of a maximum of 40. After treatment using dakon learning media, the posttest score increased significantly to 37 out of a maximum of 40. Dakon media also shortens the duration of learning and makes it easier for students to understand concepts. Based on the semantic differential scale, most respondents gave high scores on the aspects of fun, enthusiasm, and positive impact. The discussion of the results confirmed that dakon as a traditional game is effective in increasing concentration, facilitating understanding, and creating an interactive learning atmosphere. In conclusion, dakon is an innovative learning media that is fun and effective for early childhood, and is able to reduce dependence on gadgets and support more meaningful learning.

Abstract

Mathematical problem-solving skills are competencies required by students to face challenges both in academic settings and real-life situations. However, based on observations, these skills are still considered low, including at SMPIT Rabbani in Bengkulu City. The research was conducted to examine the effect of implementing the CORE model on the mathematical problem-solving abilities of eighth-grade students at SMPIT Rabbani, Bengkulu City, using the topic of linear equations. The research design used is a quasi-experimental design, with an experimental group of 13 students applying the CORE model, and a control group of 13 students applying the conventional method. Data analysis showed a significance value (2-tailed) of 0.048 (0.05) with a Cohen’s d value of 0.85, indicating a significant impact with a large effect size. Finding of the search suggest that students who were taught using the CORE model demonstrated better problem-solving abilities than those taught using the conventional method, thus proving that this model is effective in improving students' mathematical problem-solving skills.
