Abstract

The objective of this study is to examine how students' self-management affects their learning outcomes in mathematics. Time management, self-control, self-motivation, prioritization, and self-reflection are all components of self-management. This research methodology combines a quantitative approach and descriptive analysis. Thirty-four pupils from class VIII3 SMPN 1 Pangkatan made up the research sample. Students used the Cluster Random Sampling technique to determine this. A questionnaire with 30 items to gauge students' self-management and test scores to determine their learning. The outcomes were used to collect data for this study. The data for this study was processed using the SPSS 22.0 program, with paired sample t-tests. The test results show a significant difference between the two variables (t-value = -16.33, significance level = 0.000). With a significance level of 0.000 (less than 0.05). The null hypothesis (H₀) that there is no difference between the two variables is rejected as the significance value is less than 0.05. This implies that there is an impact or relationship between self-management skills and student learning outcomes.

Abstract

Culture is a product of human creativity, taste, and creation that reflects the identity of a community group, while mathematics is a science built through rational thinking related to real objects and abstract concepts. Ethnomathematics integrates culture into mathematics education, with culture as a relevant learning resource. This study aims to find the ideas of angles in the Ka Ga Nga script, which is part of the cultural heritage of the Rejang tribe. The method used is descriptive qualitative with an ethnographic approach, involving a cultural expert and a mathematician as the main subjects. Data collection was carried out through observation of the script, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Data analysis includes collection, reduction, presentation, and drawing conclusions, with triangulation to ensure data validity. The results of the study indicate that the Ka Ga Nga script contains mathematical concepts, especially related to angles and geometric transformations. These findings have the potential to be developed into a source of mathematics learning, such as modules and Student Worksheets based on the Ka Ga Nga script, which can enrich the learning experience in a cultural context.

Abstract

The ability to answer mathematical issues gave pupils the chance to use it to overcome obstacles in everyday life as well as in the fields of mathematics and other sciences. A method known as Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) connected mathematical difficulties to pertinent real-world concerns. The purpose of this study was to ascertain whether the RME approach had an impact on the eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 03 in Bengkulu City's capacity to solve mathematical problems. A quasi-experimental design with a nonequivalent control group was the study methodology employed. The treatment (X) or learning with the RME approach was applied to the first group, while the other group received conventional learning or no treatment. The sample was chosen using the purposive sampling technique. The study's findings demonstrated that the use of the RME approach affected the students' capacity to solve mathematical problems, as evidenced by a sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.001 significance level (α) = 0.05 based on the independent sample t-test statistical test on the two sample classes. Additionally, the average N-Gain score obtained was 0.40, which was classified as a "moderate" increase in understanding. Thus, it could be concluded that the use of the RME approach had a positive impact on the improvement of students' mathematical problem-solving abilities.

Abstract

This study aims to identify and analyze students' epistemological obstasles in solving contextual problems of geometric rows and series. The research was based on observations and interviews at Santu Petrus Pontianak Catholic High School which indicated learners' obstacles in solving contextual problems. This study used a qualitative approach with six learners as subjects, who were grouped based on the level of problem solving ability. Data were collected through problem solving ability tests and interviews. Data analysis was conducted using triangulation technique. The results showed that high ability learners did not experience epistemological obstacles. Learners with moderate ability experience obstacles in procedural aspects and operational techniques, such as difficulty choosing formulas and performing calculations. While low ability learners experience obstacles in conceptual, procedural and operational techniques. This research confirms that epistemological obstacles are closely related to problem solving ability. It is hoped that this research will have implications for the development of more effective learning strategies to minimize learners' epistemological obstacles.

Abstract

To ensure that the plasma reactor tool can simulate the Plasma Activated Water (PAW) liquid accurately. To ensure the quality of the PAW liquid according to the plasma reactor design, it is necessary to create a calibration model that can ensure that the model matches the observation data and improve the predictive ability of the model. The purpose of this article is to build a calibration model based on the quality of PAW liquid produced from a plasma reactor. This study used the Principal Component Regression (PCR) method and the Partial Least Square Regression (PLS-R) method. The advantage of the PCR method is that it reduces data based on correlation values. While the PLS-R method reduces data based on the most relevant factors in interpreting the data. Based on the experiments conducted, it was concluded that to build a calibration model based on plasma reactor data and PAW liquid data, the PCR method is better than the PLS-R method. This is shown based on the RMSEP and R2 values in the PCR method of 0.09625571 and 93.04699% while in the PLS-R method of 0.09873341 and 92.84436%. For the R2 value in the PCR method is greater which indicates that the data variant value is more acceptable to the calibration model than in the PLS-R method, then the RMSEP value in the PCR method is smaller which indicates that the statistical error value is more acceptable than PLS-R.
