Abstract

This study aims to determine the content of neutral detergent fibre (NDF) and acid detergent fibre (ADF) of Brachiaria humidicola grass at different depoliation ages. This research is a pure experiment using the Completely Randomized Design (CRD) method with three treatments (40 days, 50 days and 60 days) and three replications. The results showed that depoliation age had no significant effect (P>0.05) on the NDF and ADF content of Brachiaria humidicola grass with NDF values ranging from 64.20% to 65.49%, while ADF values ranged from 36.75% to 43.99%.

Abstract

Magelang Regency is a district with an area of 1.085,73 km2 with an agricultural land area of 78,897 Ha consisting of wetland with  36,974 Ha and dryland with  41,923 Ha. The total population of dairy cattle in Magelang Regency is 503, while the need for milk reaches 8.184,61 liters/year. This research aims to find out and provide information regarding the potential amount of forage availability and the regional carrying capacity index in supporting the development of dairy cattle. The data collection method used is a survey method with samples taken from Grabag District, Sawangan District, and Ngablak District with data consisting of the identity of livestock ownership, number and type of livestock owned, origin of feed, and kind of feed used, as well as harvest area. The data analysis method that is used is descriptive analysis.  The results of the research show the potential of agricultural products in 2021 consisting of waste products from corn straw, peanuts, sweet potatoes, and cassava in Ngablak District, Sawangan District, and Grabag District is 796.962 tons, the potential for natural forage is 16.638,6 tons, the carrying capacity of dairy cattle is 2.892,3 ST, the Carrying Capacity Index (IDD) is 2.273,6 and this is included in the safe criteria which still has great potential to be used as a dairy cattle development area.

Abstract

This research aims to examine three problem factors—first, the characteristics of the tebasan operating in Madenan Village. The second relates to the decision-making basis for determining the value of the penebas. The last is business management. The types and sources of data used were primary and secondary. Respondents in this study were 13 redeemers operating in Madenan Village. Data analysis was used to determine the characteristics, and decision-making basis. Business management used qualitative descriptive analysis, and in determining the decision-making basis for determining the value of the penebas, a Guttman scale was used to get a firm answer. The results showed that the characteristics of penebas in Madenan Village based on age are in the productive age category, which impacts performance and productivity. Based on decision-making, experience plays an important role in the calculation of the interpretation of the penebas that will determine the accuracy of the penebas intuition. In business management, employee monitoring plays an important role in determining the suitability of the interpretation results to reality.

Abstract

Improving food self-sufficiency requires a strategy to increase paddy rice production. The urban agriculture initiative in Semarang City is seen as a suitable policy. However, the current increase in agricultural productivity through improved production efficiency is hampered by land conversion and inappropriate use of production inputs. The objective of this study is to assess the technical efficiency of wet-rice farming and its influencing factors in Semarang City. Cross-sectional data from 68 respondents were used in this study. The data analysis strategy used in this study is Maximum Likelihood Estimation (MLE) combined with Stochastic Frontier Cobb Douglas production function. The results show that land area, seeds, NPK, urea, and pesticides are the main determinants of rice production. Paddy rice cultivation in Semarang City is technically efficient (0.73). Formal education and other sources of off-farm income are factors that influence the level of technical inefficiency of wet-rice cultivation. Strategies to achieve food self-sufficiency in urban agriculture include developing extension strategies and improving agricultural infrastructure.

Abstract

Sustainable agricultural development in rural areas is an issue of strategic importance that has been of concern and discussion lately. Therefore, this study aims to identify the adoption rate of maize farmers of sustainable agricultural practices in East Bulontala Village and Libungo Village. This research is descriptive and uses quantitative methods, where the data is primary. The results of the statistical test were used to compare the adoption rate of maize farmers in East Bulontala Village and Libungo Village. The results showed that corn farmers' knowledge level in the South Suwawa District, especially in East Bulontala Village and Libungo Village about sustainable agricultural practices, was still relatively low. However, the adoption rate of farmers in East Bulontala Village is still greater than that of farmers in Libungo. Therefore, increasing knowledge of sustainable agricultural practices in these two villages needs to be carried out, especially in the components of reducing pesticide use, intercropping behavior, and tree planting behavior.

Abstract

Molase berperan penting dalam menyediakan sumber energi bagi pertumbuhan mikroorganisme probiotik yang diperoleh dari filtrasi dekomposisi awal campuran lumpur susu dan jerami padi. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengevaluasi kualitas mikroorganisme probiotik ketika diberikan dosis molase yang berbeda dan untuk mengetahui dosis molase yang optimal untuk pertumbuhannya. Penelitian dilakukan secara eksperimental dengan menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dan menggunakan tiga dosis molase yang berbeda, yaitu 2,5%, 5%, dan 7,5%. Parameter yang diukur meliputi pH, jumlah bakteri, dan ragi. Setiap dosis molase diulang sebanyak enam kali untuk setiap parameter yang diukur. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian dosis molase berpengaruh signifikan terhadap pH, jumlah total bakteri, dan ragi. Dalam konteks probiotik yang berasal dari filtrat campuran lumpur susu dan jerami padi, dosis molase 7,5% muncul sebagai dosis yang menghasilkan nilai pH terendah dan pertumbuhan bakteri dan ragi tertinggi.

Abstract

Vanilla is one of the export commodities with a relatively high economic value. One of the problems with vanilla cultivation is the health of vanilla seedlings. This study aimed to determine the best concentration of growth regulators from bean sprout extract to vanilla seed cuttings with some variations of plant media. This research was conducted by observing changes in shoot length, root length, number of leaves, and root volume in plant samples due to providing various types of planting media treatments and PGR fertilization. This study was designed using the Completely Randomized Design method with two factors. The treatment composition of growing media with bean sprout extract concentration showed a significant effect on the growth parameters, which affected the observation parameters, including the number of leaves, shoot length, root length, and root volume. The best bean sprout extract concentration was 10%, and the best-growing media composition was soil and manure.

Abstract

The beef cattle sector produces waste in the shape of cattle feces, which has yet to be effectively utilized. The farming sector produces waste in the shape of rice straw, but the processing has not been varied. The making of eco enzymes is one of the new ways to process beef cattle feces and rice straw into more useful. The research sought to examine how adding molasses affects the fermentation process of eco-enzymes derived from beef cattle feces and rice straw filtrate. The eco-enzymes were obtained from solid fermentation and liquid fermentation processes. Solid-state fermentation was conducted over a period of seven days, followed by the extraction procedure. The extracted filtrate was fermented facultatively anaerobic for 21 days. The research uses an experimental approach utilizing a completely randomized design or CRD there are 3 treatments, which is the addition of molasses at a dose of P1 = 2.5%, P2 = 5%, and P3 = 7.5%, each repeated 6 times. Data were processed using the ANOVA test and using Tukey’s test for further analysis.  The results showed that molasses dosing had a significant effect (P<0.05) on reducing the pH value to 3.34 - 3.68, producing total Lactic Acid Bacteria (LAB) 6.76x105 - 14.13x 105 CFU/ml, and alcohol content 6.12 - 13.69%.

Abstract

Tomatoes have a short storage time and are easily damaged. Tomatoes have thin skin and high water content, so the commodity will quickly deteriorate after being treated with simulated transportation and storage processes. This research aims to analyze the effect of the simulation time on weight loss, mechanical damage, color, hardness, and total soluble solids of tomatoes and to explain the effect of simulation time treatment on weight loss, mechanical, damage, color, hardness, and total soluble solids of tomatoes during storage. This study used a completely randomized design using transportation simulation vibration times (30 minutes and 90 minutes) and controls not given vibration treatment using three repetitions and kept for 8 days. This research shows that the treatment of variations in vibration time affects mechanical damage and weight loss. Vibration time of 30 minutes on day 8 I had mechanical damage of 15,38%, weight loss of 5,77%, color L* 40,88, color a* 20,06, hardness 11,88, and total dissolved solids 4,25. Vibration time of 90 minutes has mechanical damage of 20,51%, weight loss of 7,53%, color L* 40,63, color a* 21,21, hardness 11,65 and total dissolved solids 4,33.

Abstract

Pelung chicken is one of the singing chickens in Indonesia. Genetic factors and environmental factors such as light intensity influence the crowing characteristics of Pelung chickens. This research aimed to determine the correlation between light intensity at different times and the characteristics of the crowing sound of Pelung chickens. The study used a survey method with purposive sampling techniques in Cianjur and Sukabumi Regencies. A total of 26 Pelung chickens were sampled to measure the duration, frequency, and volume of crowing. The data obtained were analyzed using  Pearson and Spearman rho correlation tests. The research results show that light intensity has a significantly low correlation with duration (0,0249). At the same time, the frequency and volume of crowing do not correlate with light intensity with the respective correlation values being 0,016 and 0,124.  Further research with a larger sample is needed to strengthen the research results. Another study needs to be carried out regarding the training aspect and its influence on the characteristics of the crowing sound of Pelung chickens.
