Abstract

The increase in consumption needs for soybeans makes the production level must be optimal. The quality production of soybean plants requires nutrients to increase growth. The need for soybeans in West Kalimantan is increasing yearly, but its growth on peat soils is still not optimal. This study aims to determine the effect of liquid organic fertilizer (POC) from the banana hump on soybean plants' growth and the concentration that produces the best growth. This research method used a completely randomized design (CRD) with six treatments and four replications, so there were 24 treatments. The concentrations used in this study were 0 ml/L, 40 ml/L, 80 ml/L, 120 ml/L, 160 ml/L and 200 ml/L. The data was analyzed using one-way ANOVA with Duncan's further test. Parameters significantly different in this study were plant height, number of leaves, number of branches, shoot weight, and dry weight. The concentration that produced the best growth was 160 ml/L.

Abstract

A by-product of plantation waste of avocado seed (Persea americana Mill) contains nutrients including crude fat, crude fiber, crude protein, ash, Ca, P, Energy Metabolism, and polyphenol complex. This research aims to evaluate the effect of using avocado seed meal in feed on quail performance including feed consumption, hen day production, feed conversion, and income over feed costs. This research was conducted in two stages, the first stage was laboratory research. The second phase of the experimental research requires 120 quails aged 14 days. This study used RAL with 4 treatments and 6 replications. Treatment was given P0 (100% complete), P1 (98,5% complete feed + 1.5% avocado seed meal), P2 (98% complete feed + 2.0% avocado seed meal), P3 (97,5% complete feed + 2.5% avocado seed meal). The results of this study indicate that evaluating the application of avocado seed meal to a level of 2.5% cannot increase feed consumption, and HDP and IOFC cannot reduce feed conversion of quail.

Abstract

Weeds are one of the causes of the decline in potato production in the central plains. This research aimed to assess the diversity of weeds that appear on granola-variety potato plants (Solanum tuberosum L.) This research uses a quantitative approach by arranging frames measuring 50x50 cm in five locations spread diagonally. Weed samples were taken at 20 and 40 days after planting, and then the weed vegetation was analyzed using the index formula and weed dominance. The research found nine types of weeds, namely: Cyperus rotundus, Ageratum conyzoides L., Common purslane, Eleusine indica L. Gaertn, Commelia benghalensis, Panicum repens L., Amaranthus spinosus L., Gynura procumbens, and Bidens pilosa L. Analysis result the variety shows the level of weed diversity at 20 days after planting in the P0 treatment wich gives the best result with the lowest average value. Meanwhile, in weed diversity parameters at 60 days after planting, the highest average value was achieved by treatment P1, while the lowest average value was seen in treatment P3.

Abstract

Livestock industry waste and kitchen waste contain high levels of organic matter and are dangerous if not managed properly. To overcome this problem, bioconversion can be carried out using BSF maggot. This research aims to determine whether the growth media after being degraded by BSF maggots still contains bacteria and coliform that meet the requirements for solid organic fertilizer Kepmentan No. 261 Tahun 2019. The research was carried out experimentally with 4 treatments and 5 repetitions. Treatment consists of P0 = 100% organic kitchen waste, P1 = 50% dairy cow feces and 50% organic kitchen waste, P2 = 50% milk sludge and 50% organic kitchen waste, P3 = 33,33% dairy cow feces, milk sludge 33,33% and kitchen organic waste 33,33%. The data was analyzed using a paired t-test. The results for total bacteria and coliform before and after degradation of BSF maggot experienced a significant decrease (P<0,05) and fulfilled the requirements for Escherichia coli in the coliform group with a total of <102 MPN/g in the BSF maggot growth media.

Abstract

A livestock business's ability to succeed is influenced by a number of variables, one of them being feed, which accounts for over 50% of production expenditures. Feeding is necessary for animals to achieve their fundamental requirements for survival, development, reproduction, and output. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of indigofera sp addition on the chemical quality of fermentation of banana stems. This study is an experiment with four repeats and five treatment levels. banana stem + 0% indigofera sp in treatment P0 control; banana stem + 10% indigofera sp in treatment P1; banana stem + 20% indigofera sp in treatment P2; banana stem + 30% indigofera sp in treatment P3; and banana stem + 40% indigofera sp in treatment P4. Dry matter (BK), organic matter (BO), crude protein (PK), and crude fiber (SK) are the characteristics that are measured. The findings indicated that there was no significant change (p>0.05) in the DM and BO concentrations caused by the addition of indigofera sp. Additionally, the addition markedly (p<0.01) reduced the crude fiber concentration and increased the crude protein level. This investigation discovered that the highest-quality banana stem fermentation was achieved when 40% indigofera sp was added.

Abstract

Gorontalo City is the capital city of Gorontalo Province; however, in some places in Gorontalo City, there are still scattered agricultural lands and most of the agricultural land is surrounded by buildings and housing. The purpose of this study was to determine the survival strategy of urban farmers in Gorontalo City and analyze income based on the cost of living for farmers and their families. Secondary data in this study were obtained from the Agricultural Extension Center (BPP) and the Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS) or relevant sources in the form of data on the number of farmers in Gorontalo City. This study uses a mixed-methods approach, namely quantitative and qualitative approaches. Primary data were obtained from interviews with research informants, with a limit on the number of informants to as many as 30 farmers. The primary data collection instrument was divided into two types: questionnaire A for all informants and questionnaire B for 10 informant farmers (with the criteria of separate land from other farmers' land) through the in-depth interview method. A qualitative approach with interactive analysis of the Miles and Huberman model. The results showed that the income of rice farmers was Rp. 489.586348 with 27 farmers, tomato commodities were Rp. 20.991.667 with 2 farmers, and mustard commodities were Rp. 5.160.000 with 1 farmer. The total family living cost of the respondents per month is Rp. 87,799,980. In general, farmers use a double-income strategy to meet the needs of their families, such as pulling bentor (ngojek), workshops, and construction workers
