Abstract

This study aims to examine the sources of financing for rice farming on different land tenure status, examine the pattern of financing for rice farming in the research location and examine the factors that influence farmers in the utilization of financing sources. The method of determining the location by multistages sampling and the method of determining the sample is stratified purposive sampling. Data analysis used descriptive analysis and probit regression model (probability unit). The results showed that 64% of sharecroppers and 57% of sharecroppers used independent sources of capital, while 26% of sharecroppers and 33% of sharecroppers used loan capital and the other 10% used shared capital. Sources of financing for farmer loans, namely neighbors with a pattern of loan repayments, do not have special requirements and the repayment period is relatively long. Factors that influence farmers in utilizing sources of financing for their rice farming are education, land area and land tenure status. Education has a positive effect on the use of financing sources, while land area and land tenure status have a negative effect.

Abstract

Oil palm is an important commodity that plays a role in increasing farmers’ income, where marketing success is greatly influenced by the quality of service provided by marketing agencies as well as the factors affecting it. Bengkulu Province is one of the regions on the island of Sumatra that is developing the oil palm plantation industry; the objective of this study is to analyze the level of farmer satisfaction with the services provided by oil palm marketing agencies in Bengkulu Province. It also aims to analyze the factors that influence farmers’ satisfaction with the services provided by oil palm marketing agencies in Bengkulu Province. The sample used in this study was selected through purposive sampling, specifically farmers who actively sell their harvest to marketing agencies. Data analysis was conducted using the Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) and Multinomial Logistic Regression methods. Farmer satisfaction is influenced by service qualitywhich encompasses tangible aspects, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, and empathy as well as farmer characteristics such as age, education level, land area, selling price, distance to the marketing agency, and duration of collaboration. The results of the study indicate that farmers are satisfied with the services provided by palm oil marketing agencies in Bengkulu Province. This level of satisfaction is influenced by factors such as age and the duration of the farmer’s collaboration with the marketing agency. Thus, farmer characteristics play a role in shaping the level of satisfaction with the services provided by palm oil marketing agencies in Bengkulu Province.

Abstract

This study aimed to characterize the morphological and agronomic traits of five local tomato accessions from Kutoarjo (A, B, C, D, and E) as a foundation for plant breeding programs. The experiment was conducted using a randomized complete block design with six replications. Observations included qualitative and quantitative characters based on the IPGRI and UPOV descriptor guidelines. The analysis results proved that vegetative traits, such as plant height, stem diameter, and leaf size, did not show significant differences among the accessions. In contrast, generative traits (days to flowering, fruit size, productivity, and seed weight) showed highly significant differences. The Kutoarjo E accession exhibited the best agronomic performance with a productivity of 2.20 kg/plant, 67.83 fruits/plant, and a 1000-seed weight of 3.47 g. In conclusion, these local tomato accessions possess phenotypic and agronomic variations with great potential for sustainable utilization as basic breeding materials.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the financial feasibility, sensitivity levels, and feasibility thresholds of the garlic powder (Allium sativum L.) business at PT Ginteanc Sari Roso in response to changes in production volume and sales volume. As this business is relatively new, the analysis was conducted using a five-year cash flow projection based on the assumption of gradual production growth of 25–30%. The methods used include financial feasibility analysis using the Net Present Value (NPV), Gross B/C, Net B/C, Internal Rate of Return (IRR), and Profitability Index (PI) indicators, as well as sensitivity analysis and switching value analysis. The research results indicate that the business is financially viable with an NPV of Rp16,815,876.22; Gross B/C of 1.44; Net B/C of 6.27; IRR of 122.16%; and PI of 3.79. The sensitivity analysis results show that sales volume is more sensitive to the business’s financial viability than production volume. The switching value analysis indicates a tolerance limit for a decrease in production volume of 78.27%, while the tolerance limit for sales volume is 31.46%. These findings indicate that the financial feasibility of the business is more sensitive to changes in sales volume than to changes in production volume. The tolerance limit information obtained through the switching value analysis can be used as a basis for risk control and business decision-making.

Abstract

The coffee agroforestry system in the Bukit Daun Community Forest (HKm), Lebong Regency, integrates conservation functions and the improvement of community economy. This study aims to analyze the condition of livelihood resources, the application of agroecology, the structure of agroforestry income, and the relationships between variables. The study sample consisted of 182 respondents using proportional random sampling techniques. Analysis was conducted using a 0–1 scale index (Min-Max Scaling), descriptive income analysis, and SEM-PLS. The results show that livelihood resources are in the moderate category, with the highest index in natural capital (0.516), followed by financial (0.507), social (0.455), physical (0.418), and human (0.316). The application of agroecology is fairly good in biological synergy (0.747) and biomass recycling (0.632), but low in biodiversity (0.206). The income structure is dominated by main crops at 87%, while intercropped plants make up 13%. SEM-PLS results indicate that agroecology is influenced by natural capital, financial, and social, whereas acceptance is influenced by social, human, financial, and physical capital.

Abstract

Oil palm plantations are the main source of income for farmers in Bengkulu Province, where women also play roles in decision-making and the implementation of plantation management decisions, although their roles are not yet fully recognized. This study aimed to analyze women’s roles in decision-making and decision execution in oil palm plantation management and to identify the factors influencing those roles. The research was conducted on 240 oil palm farming households in Mukomuko and Seluma Regencies using a survey method. Data were collected through interviews using questionnaires, observations, and documentation. The data were analyzed using descriptive quantitative analysis to describe patterns of women’s roles, while multinomial logistic regression analysis was employed to identify the factors affecting women’s roles in decision-making and decision execution. The results showed that the dominant pattern of decision-making was joint husband–wife decision-making at 37.19%, indicating that women’s roles in decision-making were at a moderate level. Meanwhile, in decision execution, the dominant pattern was husband-dominant at 38.54%, indicating that women’s roles in implementing decisions were still relatively low. Simultaneously, age, education level, farming experience, husband’s support, and gender norms significantly influenced women’s roles in decision-making and decision execution in oil palm plantation management.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of different varieties on the viability and early growth of expired sweet corn seeds (Zea Mays Var. Saccharate L.). The research was conducted using two varietal treatments, namely E1 (CMB Solid) and E2 (Pioneer P35). The parameters observed include germination rate, plant height, and root length at 7 and 14 days after planting (DAP). The data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) followed by the BNT test at the 0.05 level. The research results show that the variety has a very significant effect on germination rate and early seedling growth. The CMB Solid (E1) variety yielded the best results with a germination rate of 0.28% at 7 days after sowing (DAS) and increased to 0.33% at 14 DAS, followed by better plant height growth and root length compared to the Pioneer P35 (E2) variety. This difference is due to the ability of each variety to maintain seed viability and vigor during storage. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the CMB Solid variety is more tolerant of expired seed conditions and has a better ability to support seed germination and early plant growth compared to Pioneer P35.
