Abstract

Garbage accumulation in Pangkalpinang City continues to increase every year. This research analyzes the influence of input factors on output and analyzes the efficiency of waste processing in sub-districts in Pangkalpinang City. Then this research will also develop strategies that can be implemented to increase the efficiency of waste processing in sub-districts in Pangkalpinang City. The analysis technique used in this research uses quantitative analysis and qualitative analysis. Quantitative analysis uses stochastic frontier analysis (SFA), while qualitative analysis uses Triple Helix Analysis. The data used is monthly data from 2020 to 2022. This research found that the input factors that influence the efficiency value of waste processing in Pangkalpinang City are not yet appropriate. Then this research also shows that waste processing in Pangkalpinang City is technically efficient. However, there were findings of inefficiency in the model which had an effect of 906555.04 percent. This indicates that there are the most important input factors that should be in the model. Increasing waste processing in Pangkalpinang City is prioritized in the recycling program. The Triple Helix aspect needs to be considered as a priority because it has an impact on the sustainability of increasing waste processing in Pangkalpinang City, so it is necessary to develop a Triple Helix strategy. There are six programs that need to be promoted to stakeholders, namely: guidance, mentoring, guidance/training, funding, technology and information.

Abstract

Women and employment are a problem faced by both developed and developing countries. The view that women should work in the domestic sphere places women as weak and disadvantaged in society. This study aims to analyze and determine the role of the dimensions of economic and health in the female labor force participation during the 2017-2021 period in 34 provinces in Indonesia. Economic indicators are seen from female wages and female education. Meanwhile, health indicators are seen in female-headed households, fertility, and young women’s marriage. This study uses panel data analysis with the Fixed Effect Model (FEM). The study results show that the indicators in the economic dimension that have a significant relationship to the female labor force participation are female wages and female education. Then, an indicator in health that has a significant relationship is early-age marriage. Education emerges as a key finding in this study, thereby positioning the expansion of women's access to education as a central focus in efforts to enhance female labor force participation (FLFP).

Abstract

One of the community-based government initiatives aimed at expanding employment opportunities in Indonesia is the Joint Enterprise Group (KUBE). This study examines the impact of KUBE on individual employment outcomes using two waves of the Indonesia Family Life Survey (IFLS) data from 2007 and 2014. Employing the Difference-in-Difference (DID) technique, the analysis finds that the presence of KUBE in a community is associated with a higher probability of adults gaining employment. However, the positive effect is concentrated in the category of casual workers, while no significant effect is observed for other employment types such as self-employment or formal wage work. Interestingly, the existence of KUBE is also associated with a lower probability of individuals working as unpaid family labor. These findings suggest that KUBE has the potential to promote labor absorption in poor communities, particularly in informal sectors. Therefore, expanding KUBE’s coverage and integrating it with complementary policies could enhance its role in stimulating economic activity and improving community welfare.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the impact of fiscal decentralization on economic growth in Indonesia using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach. The SLR method is used to identify, assess, and analyze findings from relevant studies on the impact of fiscal decentralization on economic growth. The SLR process includes selecting relevant scientific articles, screening, and thematic analysis to identify common patterns and significant findings. The results of the study indicate that fiscal decentralization can have a positive impact on regional economic growth, especially if supported by quality regional financial management, adequate institutional capacity, and appropriate allocation of funds to productive sectors such as education, health, and infrastructure. The results of the study indicate that regions that have weaknesses in fund management and monitoring capacity have difficulty utilizing the potential of fiscal decentralization, so that its impact on the economy is not significant. Based on these findings, this study recommends that fiscal decentralization policies focus on strengthening institutional capacity and regional financial management to maximize the potential for economic growth. Keywords: Fiscal decentralization, capital, economic growth, Systematic Literature Review (SLR)

Abstract

Unemployment is one of the problems faced by both developed and developing countries. The increasing number of the workforce is not accompanied by an increase in the number of jobs, causing unemployment problems. This study aims to analyze the factors that influence unemployment in Indonesia on a micro basis. These factors include education, gender, and place of residence that affect unemployment in Indonesia. The data used in this study is the 2015 Indonesia Family Life Survey (IFLS) data. The results show that education and residence have a negative and significant effect on unemployment, while gender has a positive and significant impact on unemployment. The education variable shows that individuals who do not attend school are most at risk for unemployment, while individuals with higher education are at least at risk for unemployment. The gender variable shows that male individuals are more at risk for unemployment than women, and individuals who live in rural areas are more at risk of unemployment than those who live in urban areas. From these results, the government must improve the community's education to have the skills to work or create jobs. In addition, the government must equalize educational facilities, not only centered in urban areas but in rural areas necessary to provide adequate educational facilities.

Abstract

This study explores individual decisions in carrying out natural non-permanent mobility activities to the city of Bandar Lampung. Non-permanent migration increased by 300 percent during 2016-2018. The data used in this research is the 2018 Sakernas micro data for August. Data analysis using the Binary Logistic Regression. The findings show that the variation in the independent variable is able to explain the variation in the dependent variable by 52 percent.. All independent variables (age, wages, education, and distance) are statistically significant in influencing individual decisions to undertake non-permanent migration, except for the variable marital status. The highest odds ratio value for the distance variable, then the education variable. This means that the closer the distance to Bandar Lampung and the better the individual's education, the higher the probability of non-permanent migration to the city of Bandar Lampung. Variable selection is limited due to adjusting the supply of Sakernas micro data files. In the future, it is very important for the government to understand this temporary mobility movement in order to control the short-term and long-term implications of achieving a more equitable distribution of wealth in Lampung Province. Equitable development between urban and rural areas needs to be realized immediately in reducing income inequality and development.

Abstract

Poverty is a severe issue for local governments, particularly in Bali. This study aims to investigate factors influencing the regional poverty rate in Bali Province between 2016 and 2020. In the primary data obtained from BPS Bali Province, spatial regression data approaches and analyses were used. The findings show that housing, access to technology, and availability of natural resources affect poverty rates. The poverty line in Bali in the period 2016–2020 fluctuated significantly. Urban and rural poverty levels are affected by the availability of rice. At the same time, non-food commodities are higher in rural areas regarding housing, religious ceremonies, and customs. The contribution of the food poverty line to the urban poverty line was 68.76% less than the contribution of the food poverty line to the rural poverty line, which was 69.74%. From 2016 to 2020, the districts of Buleleng, Karangasem, Klungkung, and Tabanan each had the highest poverty depth index. The poverty depth index in urban areas reached 0.653, and in rural areas, 0.753. The severity index for urban poverty is 0.154, which is lower than the severity index for rural poverty, which is 0.156.
