Abstract

Air emissions are a critical issue that can directly impact public health. The larger the emission source, the greater the potential for exposure to the resulting emissions. This problem is also faced by residents (partners) in the Pesona Banyu Asri neighborhood, Banyumulek, West Lombok Regency. Air pollution generated from many directions (four main sources) in the partner area (waste management at the Kebon Kongok landfill, plastic waste processing at BRIDA, waste processing into biofuel, and the pottery production process in the Banyumulek tourist village) is quite high, but the process of quantifying and characterizing emissions has not been implemented/studied in detail. Therefore, the purpose of this community service is to provide alternative solutions that can improve community preparedness regarding air emission disaster mitigation. The implementation method of community service activities is focused on PAR (participatory action research) techniques to improve social aspects of the community. The priority is to identify problems and provide alternative solutions related to the impact of air emission exposure due to emission source activities around the partner area. The IoT (Internet of Things)-based air management system developed by the community service team was previously implemented directly in the community, through stages of observation, socialization, training, installation, and final assessment. The results of the community service process can be seen from the questionnaire data quantification process, where there was a significant increase between before and after the community service activity. The readiness of the partner community increased by 62% regarding the ability to understand air mitigation, both in terms of understanding the types of air emissions, air purification systems, and the operation of the IoT-based air management system that is beneficial for partners.

Abstract

Stunting is a national priority issue today. Consumption of nutritious food and the Closed Mouth Movement (GTM), a condition where children refuse to open their mouths while eating, are factors that impact weight gain in children and children are more likely to experience malnutrition. The purpose of this activity is to increase mothers' awareness of the importance of nutrition in toddlers by providing education on nutrition and stunting, tricks for handling GTM children, education on parenting and mothers' thinking patterns regarding food myths, assistance in making local corn-based food and forming BUSI (Nutrition Aware Mothers) groups that can share knowledge with mothers about child nutrition issues. This activity method uses community development with 4 (four) stages of implementation. This activity was carried out in Bonto Bunga Village, Moncongloe District, Maros Regency. The results of this activity showed that participants were enthusiastic about participating in the education activities and demonstrations of local corn-based food processing. Overall, the education and demonstrations carried out in this community service activity are important strategies that require sustainability so that the community, especially mothers with toddlers, understand stunting, its impacts and dangers in the future to improve public health and overcome the burden of malnutrition on the nation's future generations.

Abstract

The agricultural sector in Kebumen Regency contributes significantly to the regional economy, particularly through crystal guava commodities. Patukgawemulyo Village, Mirit Subdistrict, is recognized as a production center of crystal guava with high yields; however, the selling price of fresh fruit tends to be low and unstable. This condition is further exacerbated by farmers’ limited ability in product diversification, marketing strategies, and business management, resulting in suboptimal economic potential. This community service program aimed to enhance the capacity of farmer groups in production, marketing, and agribusiness management based on crystal guava commodities. A participatory approach was applied, actively involving 30 members of the Margo Mulyo Farmer Group through planning, implementation, and follow-up stages. The training focused on two main aspects: product innovation and marketing strategies. Participants were trained to produce various value-added crystal guava-based products. In addition, marketing training covered branding, labeling, packaging design, and the use of digital media to expand market reach. The results indicated an improvement in participants’ technical skills in guava processing, successful product diversification that extended fruit shelf life, and enhanced understanding of digital marketing strategies. The partners also developed a product identity through basic labeling and initiated online marketing. Thus, this program contributes to strengthening the independence of farmer groups and supporting the development of creative economy based on local potential. Continuous mentoring is recommended to ensure product innovation sustainability and strengthen digital marketing efforts.

Abstract

Moringa oleifera is a nutrient-rich plant with potential as a functional food and a source of household income. The Nusa Indah Women Farmers’ Group (KWT) has access to moringa resources but faces challenges such as limited knowledge, skills, and the absence of a standardized moringa garden. Consequently, their products have been restricted to sticks and herbal tea, leaving economic value underutilized. Empowerment through training and product diversification was therefore introduced as a strategic solution. This program aimed to enhance the knowledge and skills of KWT Nusa Indah in developing moringa gardens and producing diversified products such as biscuits, dried noodles, and herbal soap. The method included establishing a moringa garden using planter bags, applying compost fertilizer, and conducting training with hands-on product processing. Knowledge was evaluated through pretest and posttest, while skills were assessed by direct observation. The results showed the establishment of a moringa garden with 20 well-maintained plants and the successful production of moringa-based biscuits, noodles, and soap. The mean pretest score of 62.40 increased to 90 in the posttest, with a Wilcoxon test confirming significant improvement (p=0.000). This indicates a 27.6% increase in knowledge. Participants also demonstrated enhanced skills through the ability to produce standardized products. In conclusion, the empowerment program effectively improved knowledge, skills, and productivity of KWT Nusa Indah, while promoting sustainable utilization of moringa as both a nutritional resource and an economic opportunity. Abstract

Kalisari Village, Cilongok District, Banyumas Regency, is known as a tofu production center that generates a large amount of tofu dregs waste. This waste has been underutilized and often causes environmental problems, as its use has generally been limited to animal feed. UKM Suwardi emerged with an innovation to process tofu dregs into crackers with economic value, yet still faces challenges in digital marketing, simple packaging design, and a production process highly dependent on weather conditions. This community service program aims to enhance the market value, productivity, and competitiveness of tofu dregs crackers through the application of appropriate technology and strengthened marketing strategies. The implementation methods included socialization, training on digital marketing and packaging design, the provision of a drying oven and food sealer, intensive mentoring, and continuous evaluation. The results show an increase in production capacity from 50 kg to 75 kg per day, improved product hygiene due to a closed drying process independent of sunlight, and more attractive and informative packaging. In addition, the owner and workers gained new skills in utilizing social media and online marketplaces for promotion, expanding the market reach from local distribution to digital platforms. This program also improved consumer trust, as reflected in an increase in new customers and higher sales turnover. Therefore, this community service activity successfully addressed the partner’s problems by improving productivity, product quality, and marketing strategies of UKM Suwardi.

Abstract

Village fund corruption cases continue to rise, from 17 cases in 2016 to 155 cases in 2022. As a solution, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) established anti-corruption villages, which currently number 40 across Indonesia. Panggungharjo Village, Sewon Subdistrict, Bantul Regency, is a fostered village under Ahmad Dahlan University and was the first anti-corruption village launched directly by the KPK on December 1, 2021. One important element in establishing an anti-corruption village is the presence of traditional and/or religious leaders, including the Indonesian Mosque Council (DMI). However, to date, religious leaders within DMI, particularly the Pangungharjo branch, have not contributed to the development of the Pangungharjo anti-corruption village. Therefore, the Community Service Team is here to provide a solution in the form of anti-corruption preacher training. The implementation method uses socialization, training, mentoring, program evaluation, and sustainability. The program is implemented from July to September with a duration of four meetings. Participants in the Community Service Program (PKM) were 35 members and administrators of the Panggungharjo branch of the Islamic Student Association (DMI), representing mosque administrators throughout the Panggungharjo village. The PKM results demonstrate that the anti-corruption da'i training is an innovation for Panggungharjo village, the first anti-corruption village in Indonesia. Participants experienced improvements in their knowledge of anti-corruption fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence), integrity, and anti-corruption da'wah skills. This program will continue with anti-corruption da'wah sessions at least once a month in all mosques in the Panggungharjo area.

Abstract

Kawak Village in Jepara Regency has significant potential in the local food sector through the production of cassava chips. However, the "Keripik Mak RIP" MSME still faces serious obstacles, such as unhygienic manual production processes, lack of business legality, simple packaging, and limited marketing. These conditions hinder product quality improvement and competitiveness. Comprehensive assistance is needed so that MSMEs can utilize technology, obtain legality, and expand their markets sustainably. The goal of community service activities is to help partners increase productivity, improve management, obtain business legality, and expand market reach to achieve independence and sustainable village economic development. The implementation method focuses on mentoring, training, and the application of appropriate technology. The activities are carried out in five stages: program socialization, design and installation of an automatic chip cutting machine, assistance in processing NIB and PIRT (National Property Right) (PIRT), training to increase human resource capacity (packaging, digital marketing, and financial literacy), and evaluation and monitoring. All stages are carried out in a participatory manner with members of the Keripik Mak Rip MSME, community leaders, and surrounding MSMEs. The program has resulted in various positive changes. The automatic chip cutting machine increases production speed by 3–4 times and produces more uniform and hygienic slices. The MSME successfully obtained a Business License (NIB) and Product Registration Certificate (PIRT), which expanded market access. Training in packaging design, digital marketing, and financial bookkeeping improved managerial and marketing skills, thereby increasing business competitiveness. Evaluations showed that all targets were achieved with high participation and a tangible impact on the village economy. This community service activity addressed the initial objective of strengthening the productive business of the MSME "Keripik Mak RIP" through business legality, technology implementation, and human resource capacity building. This program has proven to increase efficiency, quality, and marketing reach, while simultaneously fostering the independence and entrepreneurial spirit of the Kawak Village community in a sustainable manner

Abstract

Riyadhut Tafsir Islamic Boarding School in Parung Panjang, Bogor, faces limited access to clean water and remains dependent on external food supplies. This condition hampers students’ daily activities, especially during the dry season when water is scarce. The available water was not suitable for consumption due to the absence of filtration. Food problems also emerged since self-sufficiency in cultivation had not been achieved optimally. The aim of this activity is to enhance the self-sufficiency of the boarding school through appropriate technology, namely bore wells, a filtration system, and biofloc catfish cultivation. The methods included needs assessment, system design, implementation of bore well and filtration technology, construction of biofloc ponds, and training students in clean water management and fish farming. In addition, a pre test and post test were conducted to measure participants’ competency improvement. The results showed significant improvements in water availability, with a bore well discharge reaching 1.2 L/s, water quality improvement with turbidity reduced and pH stabilized at 7.1–7.4 after filtration. The boarding school now has 3 biofloc ponds with a capacity of 100 fish each, achieving a catfish survival rate of 95% after two months of cultivation. Knowledge evaluation results showed an average score increase from 25.0 (pre test) to 90 (post test), with all participants achieving the minimum competency standard of ≥75. Students were actively involved in maintenance, which significantly enhanced their technical skills. In conclusion, the application of bore well technology, a filtration system, and biofloc ponds successfully improved water and food self-sufficiency while effectively enhancing students’ competencies through appropriate technology-based training.

Abstract

Squid (Loligo sp.) is a high-value fishery commodity widely caught by fishermen in Southeast Sulawesi; however, traditional fishing methods that are often not environmentally friendly have led to uncertain catches. One practical innovation is the use of squid attractors, which function as artificial structures that provide shelter and serve as spawning substrates. This community service activity aimed to implement environmentally friendly squid attractors made from recycled iron frames covered with nets and burlap sacks in Wasaga Village, Buton Regency. The methods included community outreach, training for fishermen in attractor construction, DEPLOYMENT in coastal waters at depths of 3–10 meters, and monitoring squid presence and egg attachment. A total of seven attractor units were successfully built, each measuring approximately 120 cm in length and 60 cm in diameter. Observations indicated that squid began to gather around the attractors during the first week of deployment, although egg attachment remained limited. In addition to ecological benefits, fishermen reported socioeconomic impacts, such as reduced fuel consumption and shorter fishing times, since fishing locations became more predictable. In conclusion, recycled iron-based squid attractors offer a simple and environmentally friendly alternative technology to support sustainable squid fisheries, though long-term monitoring and technical improvements, such as anti-rust coating, are required to enhance durability.

Abstract

Marriage is a bond intended to form a family. However, the phenomenon of early marriage still often occurs in society, which can have various negative impacts. Teenagers are the future leaders of the nation who must understand the impacts of early marriage so that they can focus more on their future rather than getting married at an immature age. Through community service activities, namely the early marriage prevention socialization program at SMP 18 Bintan, it is hoped that students will gain additional insight. The activity method used the Deming cycle model through four stages, namely planning, implementation, evaluation, and follow-up. The activity was carried out with an out-class approach in the form of socialization, interactive discussions, material delivery, as well as pre-tests and post-tests to measure student understanding. The results of the activity showed a significant increase in students' understanding of the material presented. This can be seen from the post-test results on statements regarding economic problems as one of the factors causing early marriage, where the majority of students (60%) answered “agree,” while the rest answered “strongly agree” (14%), ‘disagree’ (14%), and “strongly disagree” (12%). This data shows an improvement in understanding compared to the pre-test results. The results of the activity showed an increase in students' understanding of early marriage. Thus, this activity is expected to be one of the preventive measures to reduce the rate of early marriage in the future. Keywords: Prevention of early marriage, Factors, Impact
